After my appendectomy, I was discharged despite having clear signs that I was not well enough to do so. My hgb dropped after surgery to a 7.7 AFTER a blood transfusion. My blood pressure which is normally high was at 111 (very low) for me. And the medical team believed those were safe signs for me to be discharged. 6 hours later my heart rate is at 120+ while at rest for many hours and my hgb dropped to 6.3 when I had to painfully return to the ER and wait 5-6 hours to be finally brought to the ICU. There I was given two more blood transfusions and doctors said they saw "a little blood in my abdomen that is totally normal after this type of surgery" I don't believe it was a small amount of blood for ALL of this to happen to me. Looking back, it is terrifying to think about what could have happened to me if I had waited longer to seek help. What was most upsetting was feeling dismissed when I was clearly experiencing symptoms that suggested something was wrong. As a patient, I trusted the medical team to recognize potential complications and keep me safe. The physical recovery has been difficult, but the emotional impact has been just as significant. I now have serious anxiety about seeking medical care because of this experience. I lost confidence in the hospital's judgment and in the way my health concerns were handled. I am sharing this review so that others can be aware of my experience and so the hospital can take a hard look at how postoperative patients are evaluated before discharge. No patient should leave feeling unheard or find themselves back in the hospital facing a potentially life-threatening complication shortly after being told they were well enough to go home. Unfortunately, because of what happened, I do not feel comfortable returning to this hospital in the future.

The person that checked me out at the end of the visit coughed into her hand and then rested her hand on the outside of her mask and then tried to hand me paperwork with the same hand. I very politely asked her to hand sanitize and re-print the paperwork for me - we can't be too careful! She seemed slightly put out, but oh well. ‍

Being able to get (basically) immediate care was really great. I joined the waitlist online and made my way there when it was my turn. They started me out with a hearing test, and then I met with the doctor. She prescribed me with some meds to try to help the problem, and gave me a couple of possible causes for my attack. It was still so early, so it was hard to eliminate all of the possible factors. I do wish I was given a print out and more information, as I think it would have been helpful for my future appointments at other doctors, but I walked out empty handed. I continued to have problems and called again the next day. The doctor was pretty prompt in calling me back which I genuinely appreciate. All in all, it's a solid service given what it is- walk in. Front desk was really helpful, and everyone was really kind.

As I wanted to be seen to have my ears cleaned, I thought it would be easy. The website was a no go, as the staff would have seen me in a week. So I dropped in or walked in as they now allow. The walk in process ended up taking about 60 minutes. Not terrible, but not exactly as expected. As I will be traveling and not back in town for a while, I wanted to get this done. I am very disappointed in the change in attitude, but it is time for me to find a new doctor. Most of his staff is very helpful, although I did have one PA that wasn't very pleasant, but I learned to avoid any appointments with her. Also, Dr. Politis is accepting new patients, but his existing patients, such as I, have to wait nearly six months to get an appointment with him, despite being his patient for several years. Seeing a PA is mostly the person you will see once you are an established patient. I have already found a new dr. and I will have two appointments in two weeks and another one in a couple of months; 3 appointments with a Dr...NOT a PA, in 3 months, and he spent over an hour with me with my first appointment, so I am thrilled with this new change!!

I also have the impression that the office staff are not fully competent. For example, scheduling a 12:15 ultrasound, but the entire office is closed between 12-12:30. Empty waiting room, not answering phones and a closed window. Why are you scheduling people at this time? (I waited over 30+ min in a totally empty/quiet room). When I tried to ask if I was at the wrong time once the glass window finally opened, the lady was quite rude. Over the years there's been several "misunderstandings" with the office people. But it's not like I'm going to go find a new Dr or anything, so we just deal with it.

However, I did not know this until after I got to the hospital. When you're 37+ weeks along, it would have been nice to know in advance when your doctor isn't going to be around. But, there are bigger issues. Dr. Reining was the on call doc. Things were moving quickly. I got to the hospital around 4:45 am and delivered at 9 am. The baby's heart rate had a significant drop. My daughter was delivered by the hospitalist OB via forceps and an episiotomy. Dr. Reining came in after I delivered. Didn't say a word to me, and left. I was upset about this and wanted to discuss it with Dr. Meyer during my 6 week PP appointment. After all, when it's your first baby and: 1.) Your usual doctor isn't around 2.) The on call doc from her practice doesn't show up on time and there's an emergency. 3.) The hospitalist OB, although he was completely professional, delivers your baby using forceps. (Most younger docs would have used a vacuum.) It's a scary experience. I understand that OBs' can't be at the hospital all the time, nor do I expect them to be, but like I said, things were moving fast. I wanted to feel heard. Instead, she got defensive and snippy. I won't get into the details, but I felt patronized and dismissed when I brought it up. All I wanted was an apology and some understanding from her or Dr. Reining, but apparently that was unreasonable. I never expected to see Dr. Meyer in that light. Her personality went from hot to cold. But I lost all respect for her as a person and a doctor. For other reasons, like appointment providers being switched without my knowledge or consent, hour or more waits for the majority of appointments. I felt like a second rate patient at this practice. At one point during our conversation, Dr. Meyer told me, "If coming here troubles you, you can go to a different practice". That's exactly what I'll be doing. To anyone reading this...I would advise you to do the same. When it mattered, the doctors' and staff in this practice let me down in every way possible. I chose a practice of predominately younger women for a reason. Not the hospitalist OB who was older male doctor with antiquated techniques. I was looking forward to the wonderful experience everyone seems to have. Sadly, I got the opposite and was basically told to leave when I expressed my concerns.

The ER doesn't have individual rooms, it has a triage room with curtains separating the beds. I heard the health history, diagnosis, test results and everything else for every other patient in there. This set up has to be a HIPAA violation. Not mention when the person came around getting patients insurance and verifying info, SS numbers, phone numbers, addresses, all kinds of stuff were said out loud for everyone to hear. And the room which housed 5 beds was maybe 20x20. No privacy whatsoever. I won't go back.

He said oh that's probably on my table but I have no clothes. I called the nurses station so he wouldn't fall. Was greeted with I was just going to help him and had to come back to answer the phone. I tried to express difficulties with his eating that my cousin had noticed such as eating non edible items, using a straw as a fork and pouring milk I'm on his fries and he didn't want to listen. I hung up and dad called back immediately. I told him that the man in the room was there to help him. He agreed and sat his phone down. To which I heard the nurse hoer for someone to bring towels and wet washcloths. I assume because he was soiled and no telling how long he had been laying there. But... then they began talking about his cognitive ability to eat and agreed that they had never seen him have a problem. They said well if the family was around for more than an hour they would actually know how he is doing. My cousin had just been there for 36 hours. Anyway. Got him out of there asap and he is in ER headed to skilled nursing after walking for 10 straight hours and no sleep for 48 bc we were given 100 seroquil for evenings although they used haldol and other things to make their nights easier. Formal complaint is in motion. He spent 2 days in ICU that were the safest I felt for him. The ICU attending was wonderful Respiratory and other attending that I watched in action with his rapid responses that I was there for were amazing. One nurse documenting time of meds given had not set her watch back she said so all of the times were charted wrong. Dangerous in a med situation. I never knew what to believe when he was so mad at people and called them names or said they called him names. He's called me names at home. But if they knew these things why was a neurological referral and exam not completed? I see other reviews that they have no neurologist available. Idk. But I would avoid. It looks great with a small place and staff that have been around forever but the comments I've seen I can almost tell you who the people are and if there have been complaints followed up with the whole "please contact us" thing and the people still work there 4 years later there is a huge problem. Leg pic is swelling from a fall. Couldn't tell which one. This ER says lower portion of the replacement is loose but not sure if from fall or possible degeneration.
