Though our server wasn't the most attentive, as we had to request fresh drinks, the food was exceptional. It's rare that I say that a restaurant's food is exceptional, so this is saying quite a bit. My only complaint about the restaurant is the spacing between tables. My husband and I were dining to celebrate our anniversary, and most of the patrons were dressed in jeans and sneakers. That's fine, but I would have at least preferred some space between diners to have a sense of privacy and romance without staring at dirty jeans and sneakers. Next year, we may dine in Jacksonville where some restaurants still enforce a dress code. read more

Stopped by again for a birthday dinner. I order the pan roasted chicken with a side of fries for dinner and the firecracker shrimp as an appetizer. The Shrimp was incredible but for that price, I would definitely want more. The broth that the chicken came in was tasty but the chicken itself didn't have much seasoning. Try something new and broaden your horizons. When we visit Gainseville we tend to do the same thing. We have eaten at the same steak place for special occasions. We couldn't get a reservation and I'm glad. We decided to try Prime & Pearl. What a great experience. While it was not perfect or server Autumn and Carolyn made the night special. I can't comment on the steaks because we didn't order one. I called and asked for a wine they no longer had and Carolyn suggested a wine. Austin Hope. I said great can you decant and have ready? No problem! We arrived and it was open and in the decanter waiting, WOW! We ordered grilled oysters, bruschetta and calamari. All were very good. Then they brought out pop-overs OMG. We chose Prime and Pearl for our anniversary dinner this year. The location is a bit far from us, but we enjoy the other shops and the space around the restaurant. The service was great. We had a reservation and were seated immediately after they found our names. The room we were in had some nice mood lighting and was fairly spacious - we didn't have any other groups too close to us. Our server was wonderful and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the tuscan bruschetta appetizer (it was good) and were pleasantly surprised that they gave us some popovers as well - we really liked the blueberry butter it came with. My husband also got the French onion soup and enjoyed it. We ordered the lobster mac & cheese and the bourbon mushrooms. The flavors were great, but we were disappointed by the mac and cheese to lobster ratio. I had the chicken carbonera pasta for an entree (it's a new item) and my husband ordered a filet. The pasta was a ton of food and was good. The filet came with mashed potatoes and asparagus - both delicious - and the filet was cooked as requested. First let me say, wow - 1st time trying dry aged steak and we like it ... upscale atmosphere, delicious and thoughtfully prepared/presented food, decent drink selection, great location, good service. Generally a wonderful experience, and a place we'll be back to when we want a nicer date night out. For a starter we had the oysters, which were amazing! I'm not really fond of oysters but those were very fresh and whatever sauce was on top went well with the handmade crackers. We ordered steaks for dinner and those were on point. My hubby and I are hard to please when it comes to steak. These were cooked as ordered (not overly done or undercooked), and they were very flavorful. Took a star for the cocktails. I didn't find them all that imaginative or strong enough. No fun! The service was ok, but could've stepped it up a notch for fine dining. She was pleasant, knowledgeable, and extremely attentive. The bussers never allowed water to go empty. The smoked old fashioned was prepared perfectly. I had the New Brunswick oysters...delicious! My wife had the French Onion soup...the best! As a bit of a surprise, instead of standard bread, they serve "popovers"...my mouth is still watering. The lobster Mac and cheese was a 3.5 in my taste. It was good but not great I probably wouldn't order it again especially since it came out cold and I had to send it back. Great vibes from the entire staff. This was a pleasant experience from the moment we stepped into this establishment. The decor is elegant and the place is quiet. For starters we ordered a sampler of oysters and decided to order another dozen of the ones we liked best. I ordered a wedge salad that was crisp and delicious. My guest who doesn't know much about tequila ordered a margarita. He asked for "top shelf". First of all the waiter should have warned him that NO ONE puts a top shelf tequila into a pure sugar drink. Second he should have told us that shot is $95!!! But no not only did our waiter not tell us he allowed my guest to order a 2nd one! When I said something upon seeing the bill he was smog about it and said we should have known! We usually go to Embers for special occasions, but decided to try Prime and Pearl. The Chilean sea bass and rack of lamb were outstanding. However, on the negative side, for the prices they charge, I expected tablecloths on the tables. The bruschetta appetizer was underwhelming and they ran out of asparagus ( it was only 6:00). About a week ago a few friends and I went to dinner to celebrate my fiance's birthday. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were excellent. Prime and Pearl is one of Gainesville's fine dining restaurants. For the appetizer, we ordered the Rockefeller oysters which my fiance approved of because he loves oysters. One of our friends ordered the calamari which was also amazing, lightly breaded and crispy on the outside. When it came to the main dishes, I had the pan-roasted chicken which was very flavorful, it came with potatoes and asparagus. My fiance had the 20 oz New York strip which they are known for their steaks. He thoroughly enjoyed it. We got a side of potato au gratin to share which was creamy and cheesy. For dessert, since it was my fiance's birthday I order him a slice of key lime cheesecake which he devoured. They have rotating selections of desserts so it was perfect that they had a key lime cheesecake. Go check them out if you want an upscale vibe with delicious food. read more

Booked a table for 10 to celebrate a graduation, thought we couldn't go wrong with the positive reviews and location at Celebration Pointe. I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant. Service was ok/good for a restaurant of this type. the Fire Roasted Oysters were fantastic. Everything after that was not good at all. My steak was cold and completely unseasoned, two people ordered salmon dishes both were severely burnt, the burger was an absolute joke, the other few meals were at least edible which only seems like a compliment given the others. Gave a star for the service and oysters (and because I had to to review it), but for the price definitely not worth it. read more

Let me start with I think this place has potential. However, in its current state it did not and the food here is just ok. Quality control and attention to the details is where I would focus as restaurant management. Specfically, in the preparation of the food, food temperature and presentation. The boneless ribeye was rull of connective tissue that was not edible. The steak lacked basic seasoning of salt and pepper. I shouldn't be looking for salt at $50.00 a steak. The smoked pork belly appetizer had potential but it came out at a cool room temperature. The grits it was served with were tasty. The potato au gratin side came out undercooked and soupy and was dismissed after two bites. The complimentary pop over rolls they serve stole the show and were by far the best part of the meal. When a person spends 200+ on a meal they should recieve great food, outstanding service, and attention to the details. Perfect place to try for my husband's birthday! Inside celebration pointe right next to kilwins! We came in and the place was nice I must say; the furniture-especially the chairs were we sat in were comfortable and plush. However, the smaller tables next to the 4 seat table(ours especially was super close to the next table) Amanda who was our waitress, was very nice and knowledgeable. She helped us decide on things we were on the fence about. For my husbands birthday, we decided to have a little of everything when it came to food; fire roasted oysters, wow now I'm not a fan of oysters but these I must say were INCREDIBLE! Caesar salad, it was ok, wasn't the best I've ever had but I always have to have a balance with my food by having greens. My husband entree was the NY strip with crusted crab while I had the Chilean Seabass and both were YUMMY! Sides we had brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese and the Brussels were OMG, if I just go back for those alone, I'd be a happy girl, they were so delicious, nothing I've ever had, tasted like candy in a weird way but pretty amazing! Now the Mac and cheese for 18.00 umm it definitely wasn't my fave, it wasn't cheesy at all, I feel like we paid for the lobster as much of it we got because the noodles and cheese were a fail but they definitely didn't skimp on the lobster so all was good. They provided us with popovers too and 2 different butters but these came out way later and right before the food which we felt like they should of came out shortly after we placed our food order for appetizers. We also ordered drinks, I ordered a glass of wine while my husband got the painkiller which I tasted and it was yummy, it reminded me of a pina colada a little bit, very refreshing. All in all it's worth it to go but the wait between appetizer, to entrees was rather long we thought especially since the popover (the food to keep us entertained until our food comes) didn't come until super late, but not sure if it's intentional too! Arriving early for a 7:30 reservation, we opted to sit at the bar while we waited for our table. Sitting in front of the bartender from 715 until 735 after the bartender told me she would be with me momentarily but she was backed up with drinks, we left the bar at 7:35 to go be seated at our table with the rest of our party without a drink. Shade, the servers' assistant, appeared to be on top of things and know what was going on as he greeted us, took water orders and said our server would be right with us.  Our server arrived more than several minutes later and we ordered drinks immediately.  We had hoped that there would be bread or crackers or something on the table for us to munch on while we were waiting for other food but there wasn't, nor was it ever offered. We ordered our food and our appetizers arrived and were eaten before we ever received our drinks. When our entrées arrived, my prime rib was cold as well as everything else on the plate. Once the server returned to check on things, I let him know and he took the plate away to fix my issue. When it was brought back, it seemed as if it had been made lukewarm by dowsing it in au jus, however it was not hot. I chose to eat it anyway because we had already waited a while and I was very hungry.  Two in our party each ordered the aged ribeye steak. Both of them had a dark char on the outside that they thought was seasoning. As they ate though, it tasted more like a burned char rather than a flavorful seasoning. Not wanting to cause a fuss, and because everyone was hungry, they chose not to say anything. The server came by at the end of our meal and said that my prime rib was being taken care of because it wasn't to the standard I had wanted. While I appreciated the gesture it was not expected. They also offered us a free dessert. We asked for a box for the food that was not eaten by both me and my husband.  We received a bag that had a box with our leftovers and a box with bread and butter the server told us he was sending home with us. I did wonder why we didn't have bread and butter before ordering our meal but we were getting it sent home with us. Four of us spent over $500 at this restaurant and when we got home and looked at our leftovers, all that had been put in the box were two pieces of meat and two spears of asparagus. The bone of my husbands ribeye which still had a significant amount of meat on it as well as half of the two sides did not make it into the box, neither did the horseradish sauce or au jus left for my prime rib.  We were very disappointed and frustrated that this was the experience we were left with.  After trying to call a couple times to speak to someone at the restaurant but unable to reach anyone answering the phone, I sent an email but we've not heard back from anyone in over two weeks. We would love to know that the steak was just overcooked that night and that it's not always like that and have the opportunity to try it one more time. However, if that is the flavor that the restaurant is going for, we are not fans. More importantly, if someone asks for a box for their leftovers, everything should be offered to be put in the box versus just the big pieces of meat that might be on a plate. If it's being paid for, we should be able to bring it home. We planned to feed our leftovers to our dogs, especially the bone.  The sides were amazing and we would have enjoyed finishing those.  I would have enjoyed my prime rib heated with the sauces available. The ambiance was lovely.  The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing.  We were so excited about the potential but were deeply disappointed in the lack of care shown to our entire experience.  Even the manager's drive-by visit focused on telling us about the VIP catering going on rather than talking to us about our experience. It felt that the catering event took priority over the customers the restaurant itself.   I can't bring myself to endorse this restaurant or want to spend money there again, especially that much money.  We did not get what we paid for. read more

Did not live up to the hype. The wine list is short and not interesting for the cost of the meal. Wines by the glass are less interesting than most chain restaurants. The menu is good for steak and ok for seafood. Sides are limited and not served hot. Service is overworked and should come by to check more frequently for quality at these prices. Waitstaff is over worked and support staff although visible is not helpful. The assistant manager came by at the end of the meal to learn of our disappointment rather than earlier to help fix a problem. Lobster Mac was good but a tad underwhelming. The biggest disappointment was the dry aged 40oz Porterhouse. It came out appearing that it was cut 10/15 min prior. It was barely warm. One side was badly burnt but it still maintained an extremely dry med-rare. Lacked any flavor. A definite pass. Waitress was very pleasant and we never complained about the food. Finally tried Prime & Pearl for the first time and I left pretty disappointed. Our server was kind and well intentioned but the service was incredibly slow. We had a 5:15 reservation and didn't leave until 7:45 because of the speed of service. We had some issues with the food we ordered that wouldn't have been problematic if the service was fast and could have quickly accommodated a solution. I will say the calamari appetizer was some of the best I've ever tasted. Everything else was just ok given the price tag. Steaks were inconsistently cut and one was significantly undercut. Given the staffing struggles in the restaurant industry, I'm inclined to be more understanding and would be willing to give them another shot down the road. read more
