When common methods don't work, they work hard to come up with new (and sometimes entertaining) ideas to help you get better. I have recommended multiple people come here. They have already helped me get back onto mat faster than anyone expected. I have another surgery coming up and I plan on going back there to recover. The only negative is that one of the women who works the front desk is a pain to deal with. But you don't go there to deal with the people at the front desk, you go there for therapy. And since the therapists Gene adn Steve are top notch, problem solved.

Fast forward 2 weeks, I get authorization to begin PT, I take off of work to go to my first session and come to find out that this doctor is not in network. The lady at the front desk was not very nice or understanding to begin with, and frankly am glad that they don't take my insurance because I don't know if I could see her 3 times a week. Sorry, but be more respectful to your customers and don't answer questions that you don't know the answers to.

After injuring my ankle, I was uncertain if I would be able to run like I used to. I became increasing worried about this pain and decided to get it checked out. A friend recommended that I visit complete body physical therapy. This place is located in the financial district and it's a bit tucked away. When you enter the Complete Body gym, there's a juice bar and then you proceed downstairs into the main lobby. Don't worry about getting lost once inside because there is a huge physical therapy sign assuring that you have found the right place. Right away, I was struck by how Dr. Lee genuinely wanted me to get better, asking me questions and doing a thorough assessment. He joked that the goal was not to see him ever again after finishing the course of therapy. During my session, he helped remedy the scar tissue on my ankle and showed me the exercises I needed to do to improve. I also mentioned pain in my back and he helped relieve it with his adjustments. I have to admit, I was a little scared at first because you can tell he's a strong guy. But after turning my limbs and applying pressure, Omg did I feel relief.. I don't even need a chiropractor.The practice is very spacious and we also have use of the Pilates machine in the next room. In addition, I was able to get a complimentary membership during my course of therapy which is an added bonus. The gym is really nice including the locker rooms which has an amazing sauna and steam room. Most importantly, I was able to feel comfortable and after visiting a several times, my pain significantly subsided. I'm pretty confident I'll be able to run my next 10 mile run without any worries. There are a lot of physical therapists out there, but Dr. Lee stands out in his attitude, adjustments, and expertise.

I was referred to this place after I was injured and honestly there was hardly no offices open for patient care at the time. I disconnected not because I didn't need treatment I stopped going because I wasn't receiving the right type of care. The physical Therapist caught Covid and I was treated by the masseuse. I still remain injured but thankfully I found a Doctor who cares about the patients well being and not just about how many people you can overcrowd in a waiting area. Getting into an accident and using no-fault accident insurance can be challenging but the reality is that the pain the people suffer is real and therefore the treatment should be real as well. Don't get me wrong this is a very smart Doctor Who cares very little about quality patient care. Stay away there are good no fault Dr.s out there if you search.

They greet you like family. Kinda like a second home. Johnny is my regular therapist and has helped me stay ambulatory. Anna and Rochelle have filled in, in his absence and also know their stuff. The girls in the front are always courteous. I feel the need to express my concern over another review I read. Yes. We are all entitled to our opinions when writing a review. But to note that they all speak a certain language I don't personally feel affects the rating of the quality of service and medical skills. This is New York City. The Chinese speak Chinese. The Hispanic peoples speak Spanish. And those of the Philippines also speak their native tongue. And that's that. And, as a proud New Yorker, until the day if GOD deems it right that the earth all speak one language again, I would have it no other way. Hearing the rhythm of the melting pot that is The Apple is a symphony. Wherein our instruments should play it in the glory of its harmony. Whatever kind of problems you people are suffering from, I urge you to AVOID this place at all cost and find a better place to go. First, the "THERAPISTS" are always speaking in their mother tongue which is "FILIPINO LANGUAGE." Second, they even make fun of patients disabilities, accents, etc. Third, their behavior, attitude, and personality is just "SIMPLY TRASH." Remember when you walk out that door, they are laughing their socks off and talking behind your back. I've been going to Empire for the past three weeks for physical therapy. Wow! Here's 5 reasons it…read moregets 5 stars: 1) No wait time. I arrive, check in and say hi to Cece, and within minutes I'm being seen by Jack or Jay. 2) Personal, individualized treatment. Both doctors are really attentive, answer all my questions, and I never feel shorted for time. Qua (pronounced Quway), the assistant, is awesome too and does a really nice job with the ultrasound treatment. 3) Friendly staff. From the first day, I felt welcome. Everyone is conversational and takes an appropriately professional interest in my personal life. 4) Soothing environment. The office is quiet, the benches are comfortable, everything is clean, and I get as many pillows as I want! One time during the electro-therapy I had a headache, and without my saying anything about it Jay noticed my wincing from the light. He dimmed the ceiling light and put an ice pack under my neck. No more headache! 5) EFFECTIVE TREATMENT. A broken tibia in the ankle area and a few ligament sprains had held me back since they occurred in March. When I started going at the end of May, I still had tons of stiffness and swelling in my ankle even 10 weeks after the injury, and I couldn't walk without a cane. Its three weeks later, and I am already feeling ready to run! I know I need to still wait and finish my treatment so I build back my muscle strength. However, the combinations of treatments, education, and teamwork provided at Empire have me extremely satisfied.

However, the…read moreowner's wife - who supervises the office staff (although I think she's only there once/week to go over the billing) - was AWFUL! The receptionist (a nice young woman) told me - when I made my first appointment - that the owner's wife was very concerned about payment. I told her we had *excellent* health insurance (for which we were paying an obscene amount of money) and it would cover 100% of the first eight visits (I'd already *confirmed* that with our insurance company, which is probably the most well-known in the U.S.). At the time of my first visit, the receptionist inferred that the owner's wife was very leery - but they'd made a copy of my health insurance card and therefore they had all of my information (and they could *easily* have contacted our insurance company for verification of my benefits, as anyone else would have). I thought it was quite strange for the owner's wife to behave in that manner, and I've *never* in my entire life encountered such odd behavior from anyone else at a medical office. When I went for my second appointment, the owner's wife was there. After my PT session, she strongly told me that I couldn't continue with appointments unless I paid upfront. I was livid, because they had *all* of my information. I also told her that it would take at least three months for me to get reimbursement (which I realize is the case for medical practitioners and I'm sympathetic, but a patient shouldn't have to be without the money when having *already proven* they'd receive full reimbursement). I decided not to return, since there was *no* way I was going to lay out all that money. Gradually I healed on my own, anyway - but the wife was a FOOL, because they ended up losing a lot of money when I didn't return. UPDATE (2/19/10): Donna W. (the owner's wife) has made totally FALSE statements and SHE is the one who does not "understand" the insurance situation! My health insurance paid *IN FULL* for the two PT visits - but later I was informed by my car insurance company that NYS has a ridiculous law whereby if you're injured in a public transit accident (I was injured on an MTA bus) and if you own a car, your *car* insurance company must pay your medical bills (there's obviously no connection between a bus accident injury and owning a car, but far be it for me to understand the crazy laws enacted by our state legislature). My health insurance company had already paid 100% of my medical bills (including Empire State PT), but that ridiculous law forced every medical provider to reimburse my health insurance company and to then re-bill everything to my car insurance company (!). We have a $200 deductible with our car insurance, which meant that $200 out of the *multi-thousands of dollars* would not be paid. However; I know for a fact that one of the other providers wasn't paid for part of the $200 deductible, therefore Empire State PT is NOT owed $200 (meaning, Donna W. is a *LIAR*!). Further, Empire State PT *NEVER* billed me for any balance and therefore it's an outright *LIE* for Donna W. to accuse me of not paying! And lastly, the supervisor at my car insurance company told me they'd PREVIOUSLY had a problem with Empire State PT refusing to reimburse someone's health insurance company and to re-bill their car insurance company (the same thing happened *this* time, therefore that person had to then call the *owner* of Empire State PT). That just goes to show the type of person Donna W. is (!). It should now be quite obvious why I rated Donna W's behavior so poorly (and I also find it very "interesting" that later on the *EXACT SAME DAY* Donna W. stated her [multiple] lies and I responded with the *truth*, two other people wrote a [glowing] review of Empire State PT - and to make it even *more* obvious, both reviewers had never written ANY other reviews until today). I predict that Donna W. will contact as many patients as possible to write glowing reviews of their treatment, in a desperate attempt to counteract my review. Avoid Empire State PT unless you want to contend with the owner's unpleasant and LYING wife!!

After one initial visit (believing in chiropractic services over the last 30 years without hesitation), I have now had doubts on the validity of their internal practices. While DOCTOR FERNANDE is definitely empathetic and truly wants to help heal your maladies, their internal staff and practices are very questionable. My second visit there was because of an auto accident and after the internal staff was very alluring on the outside the inside has much to be appreciated when rotten. I was readmitted after my accident, as a new patient under insurance terms instead of personal payments and the price hike was astounding. After trying to adjust or at least be seen they told me that I should revoke my admissions to their office simply because my insurance wouldn't take it instead of paying my regular cash only price that I was originally offered. IRS, are you watching? I highly recommend no one ever step foot in this office they are not out for your well-being they're out for your money and they will only see you as far as my experience here go, if you have insurance issues that will pay their higher insurance prices.
