Things didn't get off to the best start. The website said the first visit was free, but when I arrived, I was told I didn't qualify because my driver's license was still tied to Los Angeles. I had just moved to Palm Desert and hadn't updated it yet. I let it go because I was planning to sign up anyway. I joined during a promotion and was told my membership would be $23/month with a one-time $1 enrollment fee. I noticed the contract also mentioned $50, so I asked about it. The employee told me it didn't apply to me because I was signing up under the promotion. Two weeks later, I was charged $73. When I asked about it, I was told it was the annual maintenance fee. So there are actually are three different charges: the monthly fee, the annual fee, and the enrollment fee. I wasn't upset about the fee itself - I was disappointed because it hadn't been explained correctly. I continued going mainly to the Palm Desert location for the next two years. The biggest issue is how crowded it gets. Finding parking is almost always difficult, especially in the morning and during the day, and you'll probably end up waiting for several machines. Another downside is that equipment breaks fairly often, and some machines stay out of service for weeks or even months before they're repaired. That said, I do want to give credit where it's due. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming, and they've recently added new equipment, which is nice to see. More recently, my membership went from $23 to $25 per month. It's not not a huge increase, but it was disappointing because I was originally told my promotional rate would stay the same. In the end, the biggest reason I'm leaving is simply that it's become too crowded for me to get a good workout during the hours I can go. One more thing to be aware of: when you cancel, you'll still be charged for one more month because they require 30 days' notice. I wish that had been made clearer from the beginning. I'm grateful to the staff and appreciate the past two years, but it's time for me to find a gym that better fits my schedule and needs.

Professional training with professional results!…read more I highly recommend the Body Syndicate. I've worked out for years on my own. The results I've witnessed in my physique since I started training with them in the past three months have been astounding. I didn't realize how much time and effort I was wasting. I used to workout 2-3 hours a day. Now I'm working out in 45 minutes with focused work and great results. The trainers at the Body Syndicate know what they are doing. A great combination of love and tough motivation to get the most of you in every workout. They are able to provide food counseling that helps make the most gains out of the grueling/rewarding sessions. It's inspiring to see people who have made incredible transitions with their health helping other people improve their quality of life. From one-on-one training to small group training to group classes, they have everything you could ever need.

I have been training for over 15 years with the Super Slow method [which when guided properly is awesome for any age]. When my past trainer left the area, I was referred to The Body Syndicate. Lots of promises and assurances that she was skilled with Super Slow -- she was not. She was mostly going through the motions during our five sessions. I approached the owner who offered another trainer - none were skilled with the Super Slow Method. I asked for my balance of unused sessions to be refunded. He stated, " Read the agreement. If I was unhappy, Tough. Sue me." He knew I wouldn't. I choose to use this process and comments let others know to be very wary about this group although World Gym [not affiliated] is a superb facility overall.

I then spoke with a member who agreed to bring me in and returned to complete check-in. At that point, I was told I could not enter due to the nature of my relationship with the member, which directly contradicted the earlier instruction I was given at the front desk. When I asked for clarification on the correct guest access policy, the interaction escalated. The staff member (Anton) raised his voice in front of other members, refused to allow me to speak with anyone else, stated I could not enter, and said that police would be called. Police were called and arrived on site. During the interaction, the staff member continually made unprofessional comments such as "go do pushups in the parking lot," which was unnecessary given the situation. Overall, the experience involved inconsistent instructions, unclear enforcement of guest policy, and an unnecessary escalation of what should have been a straightforward guest check-in. I felt personally discriminated against and would not recommend this gym to anyone.

I've had a lot of positive experiences at this gym for the 3 years that I have been a member, which…read moreis what makes the recent changes to the layout and equipment so disappointing. The staff has always been friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The facility is generally clean and well-maintained, and in the past I really appreciated the balance between machines and free weights. When equipment was occasionally out of order, the staff was usually quick to address it and repairs were made in a timely manner. Unfortunately, I feel like the gym has taken a step backward with the recent changes. The biggest issue for me is how the space is now being utilized. There seems to be quite a bit of dead or poorly utilized space, while at the same time, many of the machines that made the gym appealing and functional have been removed. Areas that previously had a clear purpose and a good variety of equipment now feel disorganized or like an afterthought. The old ab area is a perfect example. It used to have much more pieces of equipment dedicated to abs, giving members a variety of options for working their core. Now that area is no longer really an ab area at all. It has become a mix of other machines, with only two ab machines where there used to be a much greater selection. It now feels like the gym is weighted much more heavily toward free weights than machines. Free weights obviously have their place, but I think one of the things that made this gym great was the balance. Not every member wants to structure their workout around free weights, and removing machines without providing comparable alternatives makes it difficult for some members to maintain the routines they enjoyed. The former 30-minute workout area is another example. What used to feel like a purposeful workout space now seems almost like an afterthought, with minimal equipment and not enough variety to make the area particularly useful. I also remember the gym promoting the idea of "No Gymtimidation," but ironically, I think the current layout has made the gym feel more intimidating for some people. With so much emphasis now seemingly placed on free weights and fewer machines available, the environment feels less approachable and less accommodating to members who prefer machines or may not be as comfortable in a free-weight-focused environment. I've even talked with other members about the changes, and many have expressed similar concerns. Their frustrations weren't simply about having to adjust to something new. Several people specifically mentioned the loss of machines they regularly used, the layout of the new space, and the fact that some of the new equipment doesn't really provide a suitable replacement for what was removed. That's ultimately my biggest disappointment. I understand that gyms need to update equipment and evolve, but updating a facility should ideally improve the experience rather than take away options that members relied on. In this case, I feel like some of the changes have reduced the variety and functionality of the gym rather than improved it. I still want to give credit where it's due: the staff remains one of the best things about this gym, and cleanliness and maintenance have generally been good. However, those positives don't completely outweigh my concerns about the current layout and equipment selection. I genuinely enjoyed this gym before these changes, and I would love to enjoy it again. I hope management takes the feedback from members seriously and reconsiders how the space and equipment are being utilized. The gym used to feel like it offered something for everyone. Right now, it feels like it is increasingly designed around one particular style of training, and I think the gym and its members would benefit from bringing some of that previous balance and variety back. Then on the other side of the gym is a core machine and one additional bench for core.

Cleanliness is average but in no way is it clean Machines…read morework as expected and get repaired quickly. The whole" kids free all summer" program is a joke and they allow groups of kids to stand around with street cloths on and just sit on the machines and stare at their phones for endless amount of time. These groups are not interested in working out and are rude to the people that are. The staff does nothing to move these groups along or keep them from monopolizing an entire area for hours. I'd try another gym if you want to do anything other than walk on a tread mill.
