He's the kindest, funniest, and most skillful dentist! And did I mention he is the most honest dentist! He will never try to sell you something that is not in your best interest. I asked him for more work and he could have easily said yes (and did it like my previous dentists did) but he suggested I don't do as the cosmetic work I inquired about would ultimately be harmful and require more costly repairs/upkeep down the road. He said my teeth are healthy and fine so why mess that up! I've been to dentists that jumped at doing these types of cosmetic procedures (usually their suggestion) since they break down over time but never did they mention that it damages your teeth in the process. It took MONTHS to not have pain daily after repeat adjustments and multiple temp crowns. I had a break so likely the trauma caused would have resulted in a root canal but I don't feel like they were conservative in their approach with me and my tooth was filed down to nearly nothing. Another dentist mentioned this could have caused the delayed healing and extended need for time to reduce inflammation. I have days even still that the tooth does not feel right. It's been about a year. That isn't a good feeling with having spent thousands on ONE tooth. This was my first crown and I have good teeth and hope to never have to be back in anyone's office for another but I have thankfully found a good dentist that I don't have to question.

I have had many billing issues but it was NEVER their fault, it was all with my insurance which I have investigated and found to be fact. It had to do with replacing early crowns done by another dentist some 9 years ago and my insurance has some clause that a crown must be 10 years old before they cover the replacement, even though my crowns had to be replaced as they were failing. Dr. Schelin helped me to argue the reason for the crown replacements with insurance but the fine print is the fine print. I do not hold any responsibility against Custer Star for those issues. They were excellent help. Dr. Schelin and Kristy Pecina are great as is the front office staff. I do not have any experience with the other dentists or orthodontists in the office so I cannot comment on them. I can't speak to the other reviews on here where people have had negative experiences other than to say I have had crowns, a root canal, fillings, and my bi-annual cleanings with no regrets. It is always a pleasure working with their team.

Now, exactly 6 months later, they say I need $800 worth of deep cleaning bc I'm at stage 2 periodontitus and they can't do anything except the $800 cleaning bc doing the basic cleaning would amount to a fraudulent report of a healthy mouth to my insurance company...?? So it wasn't fraudulent 6 months ago? That math isn't mathing to me. They either 1) gave my insurance company and me a false report 6 months ago, or 2) my healthy mouth somehow became seriously diseased in 6 months even though they raved that my home care is "so great," or 3) someone had no clue what they were doing 6 months ago, or 4) someone's looking to bump my bill today. None of those scenarios are acceptable. Won't be going back.
