I would strongly advise anyone considering this place for a loved one to look elsewhere. The Memory Care/Locked Unit: The "care" in the locked unit was non-existent. The staff--mostly teenagers--were huddled together on their phones, completely ignoring the residents. The smell of soiled clothing was overwhelming, suggesting residents are left for long periods without changes. Even more alarming, I saw residents with scaly skin, bruising, and marks on their arms that looked like they had been roughly handled or restrained against their will. One gentleman was in the hallway crying to go home, and no one even looked up from their screens to comfort him. Professional Misconduct: When I asked for a floor supervisor to address the lack of staff in the assisted living area, a woman eventually appeared from a storage closet with a male, adjusting her clothes in a very unprofessional manner. It turned out she was the supervisor for the unit. The lack of supervision and basic professional ethics is appalling. Management: The Executive Director comes across as very "fake." Based on my visit, it seems management is focused on appearances and salary rather than the actual safety and dignity of the seniors living there. They are permitting an environment where neglect is the standard. This is not a safe environment for the elderly. I am in the process of reporting my observations to the proper authorities (Social Services and the Ombudsman) because no one should have to live in these conditions.

My aunt had been there for a few months and when I finally come from NY to visit; I was so upset with their care. Speaking to the RN I realized my aunt actually had no idea when they were actually saying. None of them spoke spanish and the CNA who translated (according to my aunt) told her something different than what the RN told me. How can she get better if they cant even get an RN or even a case manger who speaks spanish. Official medical translator. This is against medical interpretation rights patients have. Very disappointing.

I appreciated the on-call doctor, the monthly well-care visits by the nurse practitioner and the in-home delivery by the pharmacy. Also available was a podiatrist, hair dresser, PT and hygienist. This helped as my mom became less mobile. All holidays are celebrated with food and decorations. Family members are welcome. Birthdays are special. Students from Long Beach State engage the residents in various activities. A priest visits often. The owner is very hands-on and communicates as required. The residents live in a clean and safe environment. I would place another family member there.
