From going to my mother's doctor appointments, to doing orientations for new caregivers assuring everything runs as smoothly as possible, and even working shifts herself if needed, she has given her all to us. After a medical condition left my mother unable to walk she ended up in a skilled nursing facility for physical therapy to get her mobile again. Her doctor recommended 24 / 7 care. I called and spoke with Ryan who came out the very next day. We talked in detail about Mom's needs. He was comforting, reassuring, friendly, personable, polite, professional and knowledgeable. He made sure to include my mom in on the conversation. I've been with some people that overlook the patient as it may be easier and faster to converse with whoever might be assisting them. He made sure she knew she was the primary party in this process, listen to her needs and concerns and described in detail what they had to offer. Day nurses were MIRKA and ZARA. Their primary job was to see to Mom's safety as she was pretty much having to learn to walk again. They worked 12 hours shifts. They helped her to get in and out of bed, shower, keep her medications in order, got her meals, and assisted with the dog. They did laundry and changed bed linens. (We made sure not to ask them to do anything outside of the scope of their job description.) They took her vitals throughout the day and assisted with her physical therapy. They logged all that they did for her and noted how she was doing with things and progress she was making. Esmeralda was the night nurse. Also a 12 hour shift. Less to do while a patient is sleeping but she still worked and stayed attentive to Mom. She assisted her with bedtime tasks and checked on her hourly through the night; if Mom made any noises she made sure she was OK. Also logging things through the night. If Mom needed anything - getting to the bathroom, a drink of water - Esmeralda saw to it. She also tidied up anything around the kitchen or living room. All three of these women were kind and compassionate and receptive to Mom's needs. And they possessed all of the qualities noted above for Ryan. They were instrumental in Mom's healing. My hope, naturally, is that Mom won't need this kind of care anymore. But if so I wouldn't hesitate contacting LWHC. I cannot think of enough positive adjectives to describe them. I am forever grateful for them.

I would recommend against placing a loved one in Assisted Living here if they require any type of…read morecare and especially if they have dementia. They do not have adequate staffing (2 caregivers per 35 residents "who need care") and relied regularly on agency caregivers (who didn't seem to have adequate training in caring for residents with dementia) even before COVID. It seemed like my parent's care plan was not being followed and I imagine it was because there were not enough staff members to do so. Some staff are wonderful and really care about the residents but others are mediocre at best. If your loved one has dementia, even if it is mild, look for a place with maximum 6 residents per caregiver that conduct dementia-specific training of their caregivers and do not regularly rely on agency caregivers.

Assisted living and memory care. Staff members are friendly, helpful, even when It is very hard for them working with older, usually stubborn or cranky residents. They try their best to care for the elderly. They are usually good at letting you know when something happens to your family member. There's even a chapel on the grounds. Cost of living here increased a bit but it's still more affordable than some of the other comparable communities.
