Thank you for an awesome "Taste of Texas Barbecue" in Tracy. Finally! I had a craving for brisket…read moreand searched on DoorDash for options. This with the very low expectations that if there were any offerings, anything remotely similar to Texas Barbecue would be a miracle. Thank heaven for miracles! It's all in the name - Taste of Texas Barbecue puts the flavor and quality where its name is. I was pleasantly surprised when I unwrapped the brisket and pulled pork on my 3-meat plate and found that everything was moist and smoked just right. At first, I was taken aback that the meats were wrapped in paper and rather luke/room-temp warm. Then I thought that is very smart to keep the steam created in the take-out container from overcooking the meat during delivery (similar to when I use butcher paper to complete my smoking process to keep the flavor and moisture). Having Texas roots, I am very persnickety about brisket in particular. I usually have to have a flat shipped to me when I have the time smoke my own to get that amazing Texas bark. One of the markers of great Texas-style brisket done right is that it has the trifecta - (1) perfect layer of bark, (2) tender/moist, and (3) the smoke flavor comes through so you don't need sauce except to complement the flavor. TTB has taken this Texas girl on a flavor journey back to Dallas!!! For the sides, I chose potato salad and coleslaw, but potato salad is not an option anymore, but is still listed on DoorDash. TTB gave me a call when they received my order to let me know and listed other options - I chose the Mac. I loved the coleslaw. The Mac was good, but I would have liked it more if it arrived hot, so it may have been creamier. The barbecue sauce is perfect - not overly sweet - a great compliment to the brisket. The only thing I added was sliced onions that I marinate in fresh lemon juice. It complements the flavor of the brisket and bbq sauce. Thank you, TTB - I will definitely be a frequent flyer coming back for more and more when I don't feel like ordering and smoking my own! :0)

We stopped by Taste of Texas BBQ, and overall, it's definitely worth a visit if you're craving…read moreauthentic smoked meats! The brisket was tender, juicy, and packed with that rich, smoky flavor you expect from Texas-style BBQ. The sausage was also delicious, with a great snap and seasoning that really stood out. The ribs had a great flavor and bark, but they were a little on the dry side for my taste. Sides were solid--mac & cheese was creamy and comforting, and the coleslaw added a nice crunch. Great spot for BBQ lovers, and I'd definitely come back to try more!

A lot of the staff automatically assume you speak Spanish, and it's actually pretty rare to find someone working who speaks English well enough to help. Sometimes it feels like it's inconvenient for the staff when you don't speak Spanish, which shouldn't be the case at all. I also found expired cat food while shopping and placed it to the side thinking someone would remove it, but when I came back two weeks later it was STILL sitting there expired. That was really concerning. Another frustrating change is the checkout process. It used to be convenient being able to buy beans, rice, and groceries all together, but now everything has to be done in separate transactions and separate lines, which just makes shopping take longer for no reason. I still go occasionally when I absolutely have to, but honestly if I find somewhere closer and more welcoming, I'd rather shop there instead.

For reference the disgusting expired ham was in between the non expired ham. La plaza is going downhill if they give this to customers.
