I don't no if it's bcuz we had warly tickets but my grandson didn't wait long to sit on Santa's lap for a photo. The staff very nice, the hot cocoa hot, all pros......but.....cons for me.....im going to say I enjoy more going to places where it's just a drive thru, mainly bcuz you pay 1 price per car instead of per person which is the case here, not that it was expensive, bit I'd you have a big family& are struggling, the drive thru venues are best suited. The "gift" shops here are the size of a closet, not enjoyable&not able to go through the merchandise without feeling rushed, so I bought nothing. Biggest disappointment was the photo taking of Santa. They hand u a bar coded card to bring to their photo booth to aee&purchase your pics, mind u we took 1 of my grandson alone&one of the famy together, and we got nothing. They were "lost", bar code card scanned nothing, the young man said he would look thru the photos to see if he can find them, of course that was 25min of wasted time. Let me add that this also happened during Halloween at Headless Horsemen(same venue). If it wasn't for my son snapping a pic with his phone, we wouldn't have had one of our lil man. So if you guys don't have photo capability, u shouldn't advertise it. Just sayn. It's cute, my 1st time, but I think im going to stuck to the other drive thru in the area.

Wow! I am in awe…read more The city of Torrington does a great job with this event. I just went today with my kids and we are so happy we did. There was street parking as well as a free parking lot in the back. Today is Wednesday December 10; we got there around 1:40 and waited in about a 30-40 minute line. I'm sure it gets crazy in the evening and weekends. Once we walked in, we waited briefly inside. The door opened and there was Santa Claus. The place was decked out and magical. There was a fireplace and Santa even gave the kids toys, wow. Did I mention this was FREE? Then the next room is Mrs. Claus'. She handed us some candy canes. Outside, was also beautifully decorated. There were elves, a hot chocolate stand, Santa's workshop with real elves, nativity scene, Santa's sleigh, and even real reindeer! I had so much fun and I felt like a kid again. The village started in 1947 by the former parks and recreation director of Torrington, Carl Bozenski. It's been a tradition since then and attracts thousands of people each year. It's worth a visit. It's free but they accept donations. This is definitely going to be our new family tradition!

The experience when we got inside was lovely and free. Very cute and efficient. My kid loved it. We…read moreloved the reindeer outside and they had some cute picture spots like a big sleigh. What I will say is we waited in for over 3 hours to get in. The line was insane and slow moving. It was very cold. The Batchy Brew truck was there so we grabbed some coffee and they had a big fire pit but it was only up front and didn't throw much heat. If you're going for this experience be prepared to wait a very long time. If you are okay missing Santa and Mrs. Claus then the reindeer and the toy shop in the back is way quicker.

A quintessential country Christmas tree farm experience! From the moment you cross the small bridge…read moreover the Landsmankill stream and park next to the century-old red barn, the smell of wood smoke and the sight of friendly faces greet you. Staff and guests are often roasting chestnuts (on the open fire, of course) and the crew there is eager to help you select the perfect tree for your home. They have a great selection of cut-your-own Christmas trees in the back plot, and plenty of pre-cut trees right up front to choose from. Similar or better prices to everywhere else in the area, but in a class of its own for experience. Bring a camera, pour yourself a cup of hot cider, sit by the fire, chat with the staff and guests, and take in the whole experience. I'm a fan! Even if you already have your own artificial tree, stop by and hang out for some extra Christmas cheer. The barn stocked with antiques (not for sale) and decorated with fresh cut garland, fresh Christmas wreaths and kissing balls (the latter two ARE for sale), is worth the trip alone. Definitely on the list of "things to do when visiting Rhinebeck" this holiday season. Past years, they've had dog sleds to help pull your tree, live music and other fun events at the farm from Thanksgiving weekend through Christmas eve. While not as close as everything else in the village, Saltsmans Christmas tree farm is walkable from the shops and restaurants at the center of town. I grew up going here and we used to walk through the woods between our home and the tree farm to cut our own tree at Tremp's.

For some reason there were more than the usual glass, blowers, and glass crafting people. Some of the pieces are definitely museum quality. The sitdown restaurant is there, as well as several food trucks from which to choose. It's a "Rain or Shine" weekend event.
