As you wheeze on the walk up the hill, you may spot written on the path "The view is so nice". The words can still can be made out although now rather worn and faded. These are lyrics taken from Blur's "For Tomorrow" and despite modern life being 'rubbish', once you are up the hill the panorama will take you away and make you forget temporarily about your woes. I have spent many a nostalgic sunny lazy day picnicking here with friends and in more recent times my boyfriend has forced me to go running up the hill. Yesterday was the first time in while I was struck with how lucky I actually am to live near somewhere so special and scenic. The sun finally out after a heavy afternoon of rainfall, the hill was much quieter than usual. We stretched out on the grass and basked in the warmth with the whole of London spread out before us. Primrose Hill is the best park in London - if not the world. When you're walking to the summit of the hill, you see that someone has rather charmingly painted the sentence 'But the view's so nice...' in white paint on the pavement. I'm not entirely sure if this is a reference to 'For Tomorrow' by Blur, but I'd really like to believe that it is. If you've got the right amount of lower body strength, do be sure to walk all the way to the top so you can stand and look out at all of London laid out below you like a glorious patchwork quilt of possibilities. Back when I lived in Camden, my favourite thing to do after a big night out was to come here at 5am in the morning and watch the dawn break over North London. Even better, because it's not that far away from London Zoo, you'll hear all the tropical birds greeting the sun with a glorious dawn chorus of hooting and hollering. If you're not such an early riser, it's still a great place for picnics, lovers trysts and impromtu games of 5-a-side football. Even better, if you hang about for long enough, you might even get to see some of those Primrose Hill set swinger type people that the News of the World are always so fond of writing about. read more

Primose Hill (including Regents Park) is a part of a cluster of parks underneath the Royal Parks. Right next to Regents Park, Chalk Farm (on the Northern Line) or Regent Park (on the Bakerloo line) are the nearest London Underground stations. Primose Hill eclipses the other London parks, if stunning views float your boat. From the top of Primose Rose hill you can literally take in some of the most beautiful views of central London and beyond (depending upon which way you look and this isn't an exaggeration). Primose Hill is a perfect location for for sprawling out on a checked blanket, with a picnic basket and a couple of bottles of LPR (Lauren Perrier Rose) on a beautiful summer's day (or night). There are also serveral great pubs and restaurants bordering the park providing an escape route when it gets a bit chilly (we are in England, you know...). read more

Primrose hill is such a pretty, relaxing site. My boyfriend took me when we first started dating, we went to fly a kite and watch the sunset. It was lovely, you can see a lot of London, lots of fun to try and name the different buildings and areas. The park was quite busy, the people were also friendly, lots of children playing and dog walkers and some others sitting with their blankets too. After sunset, the lights in the park came on. This was nice because they weren't too bright, but calming and went well with the atmosphere. read more

Not sure how I ended up here but my buddy Tom said it was the place to picnic. We had food from a local grocery/department store (very odd) and then brought a bottle here. It was chilled. The sun was shining but it felt a bit over-rated. Londoners seem to be freaking excited by the weather. Lots of skin. I guess I should feel lucky, but really I just want more food options! read more

If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a trip up to the top of Primrose Hill. The views of London are fantastic. The main downside it you're quite far from most of the London skyline icons. As a park, it's a nice bit of green, but I would prefer to spend most of my time in nearby Regent's Park. read more

such a lovely park with fantastic views of london. i came here on a cold autumn sunday, so the park was beautiful with all the changing colours of the season, but it would also be super amazing for a picnic on a hot summer day, to watch the sunset on a clear night, for a cold winter stroll...actually, it's probably amazing all the time. it is also full of dogs - and lots of puppies when we were there - just lovely - my puppy had a great time playing with all the local pooches and rolling around in the grass (his favourite pastime) read more

Even on a cloudy day the park was busy and full of dogs (yay!). It has a really nice atmosphere and I could imagine it being a perfect location for a summer picnic. The view of the park with the London skyline in the background is cool although it's actually quite difficult to capture it well on camera. The actual park itself isn't that pretty but I guess it's the views that make it. The surrounding area of London is really pretty and there's lots of lovely cafes and pastel coloured buildings. read more

If you want to see a beautiful view of London, then climb to the top of Primrose Hill. This is a beautiful little park located in North London, and is known to be home to residence such as Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Gerri Halliwell, and (me for a brief 9 months) to name a few. Yes I enjoyed my overpriced box that I lived in, but I was paying for the area not the flat. This beautiful area has been noted in many books, songs, films, and poems, once you visit it, it won't be hard to see why. There are cute little boutiques as you walk up the high street towards the park. This is a family oriented park, with no lack of yummy mummies, with children and pets in-tow. read more

This is one of the nicest parks that I've been to in London. We had some sun and even though it was a crisp day it was well worth just the casual walk and of course just shoot the shit with my best friend. This park is well maintained. It's free and beautiful. I highly recommend this as a to do when coming to London in addition to some of the typical tourist things. read more

This is such a beautiful park with gorgeous views of London in a quiet setting. It can get a bit busy with foot traffic, but its worth the trek to the top for the great photo opps. There are tons of great shops and such in walking distance so when you get bored with the view, you can move along to that, but so worth the trip, even if it is out of your way. read more

Before the London eye, this was where one could get the best view of London. Indeed it's still a fairly good view, perhaps better given that London is a clearly-laid out panorama on the horizon and you can just about make out every other landmark. The best thing about this park is the view. Climb up the hill and enjoy the cityscape on a clear day and then enjoy one of the numerous cafes or bars afterwards. It's really close to the rest of Regents Park and London Zoo too. read more

Sometimes the best things in life are actually free. One of the first places I visited when i moved to London 7 years ago, and still one of my favourites. Climb to the very top (don't look back until you do) for an amazing panoramic view of the London skyline. Pack a picnic, a bottle of wine, hang out all day until the sun sets - lovely. Even though it can be a tourist hotspot it's surprisingly peaceful if you choose your spot wisely. Dogs, celebs, kids - shiny happy people all around. read more
