This may explain how the pieces of chicken whilst soaked in sauce, can yet be so dry. This restaurant takes self service to a total new experience for me. With the waitress resting her head on her elbow behind the counter, I have been left to uncover all the warm/cold food, and personally place a serving spoon into each container myself. I think had I stayed for over an hour I may get reimbursed for some of the abysmal meal with my serving contributions. Very disappointed is an understatement.

The Korma was beautifully fragrant and at just the right level of sweetness, the pilau rice was full of veggies and really yummy, the saag paneer was nice and garlicky and with a good amount of paneer. The samosa was good but really shouldn't come with a salad as it only makes the crispy samosa soggy. All in all, everything was a bit greasy which is my least favourite thing about takeaway curries, but just so beautifully balanced in flavour and there was enough to enjoy the leftovers the following evening on the ferry. Win-win! Also, really made great leftovers... So, if you're ever in Bowness or nearby, definitely come to Shahibs. It's great takeaway and I'm sure the sit-down meals are great too. I'll definitely be back on our next trip up to the lakes.
