This is my second time with Princess to Alaska, the first time on the Island Princess. (I'm most loyal to Princess but I have taken many others like RC, Celebrity, & Disney) The Alaska itinerary is a must for everyone's bucket list. It can and most likely will rain every day so just plan on it. If you are vulnerable to motion sickness this itinerary has potential to be mostly calm but a cruise may not be for you. Pluses: -Lots of wildlife IF you pay attention. Saw three bears, moose, porpoises that look like small orcas, puffins, otters, porcupine, eagles, etc - Dinner or lunch in the dining room is top notch . Excellent beef entrees like Wellington,, prime, and tenderloin. halibut and salmon were also excellent. Fun appetizers like escargot challenged a few guests - casino was smoke free and had lower minimums than Vegas - theater shows were ok... illusionists was five stars and I also enjoyed the two opera trained performers . - pool depth was 6'+ in parts which was perfect for exercising and turned into quite the wave pool in high sea days that made all the kids have a blast. One pool is covered from rain. - medical on board was excellent - exceptionally clean - movies in cabin continue where you left off - library has plenty of games and books to borrow but only a few tables to play on - guest service is quick and does not argue with you if there is an incorrect charge CONS - only one pickle ball court that is shared with basketball - fitness center is big but NO windows. Everyone wants to use a treadmill watching the ocean!!! - pizza station closes at 10:00 -ice cream closes at 8:00 and never changes the flavors... it's mostly "ice"... we didn't have more than one. - shower space is tiny and water gets on the floor -buffet is a bit tired so use the dining rooms - if you have a large party their app doesn't let you manage excursions or meals for entire party which was my only serious headache with Princess. -laundry is everywhere but rooms only have a few machines so you wander the boat looking for an open one. read more

Hello everyone, This is a review for a recent Cruise to Alaska aboard the Emerald Princess, Jen & I planned this trip with a couple friends of ours Sharon & Zane, this is our first cruise so yes we where excited, we were about 6 months out so did quite a bit of research on what to expect and not and things to bring & not, everything was helpful and a few experienced cruisers we talked with. Well our sail off got 4-5 hours delayed due to a crane that damaged a life boat while loading supplies, so roughly 9pm we were off and I mean full Power ahead, guessing to make up some time due to life boat damage. With full speed ahead and some bad weather on the ocean and some pretty good sea waves that wasn't expected it turned out SEVERAL passengers got motion sickness including Jen, we had a Awesome cabin steward that helped me get some remedies together for Jen, OK folks this combination of thinly sliced Ginger and a Green Apple was amazing, Jen was feeling better within 2 hours. One issue we had and I would advise everyone to check their account DAILY, we didn't buy the alcohol package but noticed on the second day Jen had 7 alcohol charges and me 2 charges, we headed to guest services to dispute the charges while there the CS rep ( we felt ) didn't believe us and even asking Jen if I was buying, here's the best part as we were standing there and the rep had our account up on the screen another charge came through while standing there, the look on the lady's face was shocking, no more question asked and account was credited, my question is why this keep happening when we are all assigned a Medallion to use for purchases on the cruise, I did go and order a coke and noticed the bartenders never asked for the medallion which verifies you with a picture and room number??? I don't understand all the hype on the food ( buffet ) as it got old by the 4th day, our formal dinner nights were much better, the entertainment was pretty good for the most part. Our excursions were fun regardless of the cold weather and rain, it was nice to be off the ship walking around seeing all the shops ( tourists traps lol ). Finally, will we do another cruise? Probably but not soon, we both really enjoy driving on our vacation more freedom to stop & go & see things on your time not on a schedule. read more

Took a spontaneous last minute 7 nt cruise to Alaska, specifically on the Coral Princess. This particular itinerary was called Voyage of the Glaciers with Glacier Bay. We selected a room with a balcony which is always well worth the money. Overall, we had a good time. The ship was dated, but hit the ports we were interested in visiting and we chose this itinerary because it went southbound one way and didn't waste time doing a round trip thus able to cover more ground and different sites. Skip the spa. Absolutely not worth it. The facility and the inexperienced masseuses on cruise ships are a complete waste of money. I've thrown enough money down the drain optimistically hoping it would be better, but it's not. Do something else, anything else. The views of icebergs passing right in front of your balcony are unforgettable. Everyone must visit Alaska once in their lives. read more

"North to Alaska We're goin' north, the rush is on" (Elvis Presley) Never having gone on a vacation cruise, I really didn't know with any degree of certainty what to expect. I expected a small cabin and a lot of food, right? That's what I've heard my whole life. Well, I was very happy to learn my #1 expectation was very wrong, and my #2 expectation proved to be incomplete. Our cabin wasn't that small at all. We had a King sized bed, a big flat screen on the wall, a desk, two night stands, a big closet, and lots of storage nooks and crannies everywhere. We had enough room to store what we brought in two large suitcases, The bathroom was small,. but not the very smallest - I am 1,000% sure I've seen some smaller bathrooms in hotels. How can I describe the ship? The Pacific Princess was massive, like a floating downtown city block that's seven stories high and can accommodate 2,600 guests. The physical beauty on the ship is all around you. You'll see multiple swimming pools and hot tubs, concert halls and entertainment venues, and jewelry and clothing stores. They have 5 sit down restaurants (better get reservation), a few smallish food locations (think pizza, nachos, burgers and dogs), a few scattered coffee shops, a dozen bars, and of course a humongous buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We used one of their restaurants for lunch and a few dinners, and hit the buffet for the other meals. I didn't expect there to be so much entertainment, programs, and shows on board. You get a slick event schedule every night to let you know what's going on the next day. As I write this I'm looking at the Event Listings for July 18 -Day 4. Here's what I see:a photography lesson, bible study, Sudoko, Bridge, Mah Jong, Pickelball and Chess, Quiz and trivia contests, Bingo, Ping Pong and 3 on 3 basketball competition, an Arts and Craft Project of the Day, outdoor movies on a swimming pool deck, line dancing classes, small concerts and big elaborate Vegas style revues, and hundreds of shore excursion options. Planning each day is a challenge to match your schedule with their options, and a time of day or night that works for you. They even host Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. No mention of the cruise is complete without the staff on board, and there must have been 200 waiters, servers, attendants, entertainment hosts, musicians and dancers. Every single server we came we interacted with had a 500 mega watt smile. Now everyone knows the word "medallion" right? Well on a Princess Cruise your medallion serves as your wallet. You get a small gizmo with the Princess logo and you wear it on a neck lanyard at all times. It's a way you unlock your cabin door, to get your drinks charged to your room, and its also a security measure to know how many folks leave the boat during shore excursion time. After we left Vancouver, we stopped at Ketchikan, Juneau, Scagway, Glacier Bay National Park, and Anchorage. Most of the cruisers had shore excursions booked, and many just walked around the towns to soak in that local flavor. To wrap this up, I have to say I really enjoyed our Cruise a lot. SO...I've rated the cruise line (specifically, the Grand Princess line) 3 stars overall for my recent Alaskan cruise. Still, I felt I should give some just-dues for their efforts to provide good food on board... To simplify, their Horizon Court (all-day buffet) was good (not great). They started off really strong on Day 1, but fizzled out toward the end of the trip. I was impressed with the number of amazing appetizers (namely, Ceviches?) and mini desserts. Especially given that this was the first cruise following the pandemics (??), I thought they did really good. Their dining rooms, Botticelli and DaVinci, was also pretty good. Well, Botticelli was good, and DaVinci was closer to great. We had dinner only once at Botticelli...and honestly, more than the food, I was put off with the ridiculously vintaged dining room. I thought they should have renovated the carpeting at the very least?? DaVinci was much newer...just nicer. Service was good, but we did have this 1 waiter at DaVinci that was really, really "OFF". He was inappropriate in many, many ways...too many for me to get into. Honestly, can't believe he hasn't been fired yet. My biggest compliments go to their Specialty Dining...at Sabatini's (Italian fare) and Crown Grill (Seafood and Steak House - dined twice). The foods here were Excellent!! In fact, I had some appetizers and desserts that were unbelievably good...and so innovative. Never-before-seen type dishes! I'd rate 5 stars if the reviews pertained only to these 2 Specialty Dining options. I have to also mention that their Alfredo's Pizzeria was pretty good...and the International Cafe REALLY good (so many great desserts and dessert coffee options!). Kudos! Overall, based just on the foods (from Horizon, to regular and speciality dining rooms), I feel they deserve 4 stars...especially given how they were able to do better than what I had expected, given the Covid disappointments in all dining establishments (on and off the boats...everywhere!). There is a 2 part review for Princess brand trips. You need to take the Alaskan cruise on the Sapphire Princess. I have never experienced anything like it. It was my very first cruise EVER and it was a 20 out of 10. The food was excellent! The staff was next level. Super friendly and always smiling. We got close to some staff members that made our experience extra special. Let's start with our cabin steward, Christopher. He made sure we always had a made bed and clean room. Sometimes he made it 2 times a day. Of course we didn't expect that, but he always went above and beyond and always made us feel welcome. We had dinner every evening at the Blue Moon restaurant. Where we had the same table reserved by Anne every night. They made us feel like rock stars. The best part was seeing Armand every night. He waited on us with a smile and joked. We got to know his story and he we grew to admire this hard working young man. He made us laugh and played along with our banter. It felt like we were coming home to eat dinner with friends. The management staff was also excellent. They always made sure we were ok. For breakfast we dined at the International dining room. There we had the same table every day with Georgina. We enjoyed her warm company. She got to know us very well, and made sure my boyfriend had his favorite juice mix ready every morning. This cruise experience was like no other. Another little gold nugget bonus was that they played episodes of the Love Boat. How awesome is that!! It truly gave me a feeling of nostalgia. The organization of this experience was phenomenal. I loved the technology in the ship. No money or cc was ever needed. The ship operated on a medallion system. The medallion showed staff who you were, and kept track of everything ordered. It sounds a bit invasive, or big brother, but it's not. It's actually a really cool system. The last day we were invited to watch a show performed by the wait, and kitchen staff. It was very entertaining and funny. I loved it. They got a standing ovation from the audience because they truly deserved it. Every passenger on that ship appreciated the amazing service and hospitality. The 2nd part of my review is the land part of the Alaskan cruise that I did not enjoy. My recommendation is to only do the cruise. Do not do the 3 days -Denali lodge- McKinley lodge-Captain Cooks. I have a lot to say about this part, and would give this land experience a 0. You will spend more time on a tour bus than in any of the lodges. Captain Cooks was a very nice hotel but only slept there, and had to check out at 7 am to catch a plane. I didn't get to enjoy the city, or the beautiful suite, plus someone from the princess group broke my luggage. They had to give me a replacement because my wheels were broken, and they cracked the bottom of my hard case luggage during all the moving from bus to bus. Denali Princess lodge is up for debate. Some like it, I hated it. See my separate review on the Denali lodge. This land tour soured my trip so much, that it made me forget how amazing the cruise experience was. Like I said, we spent most of the land trip waiting for busses and being crammed into hot tour busses packed with 80 passengers for 8 hours, 2-3 hours etc. I was nauseous most of the time, and felt disoriented. These tour busses had no fresh air circulation. It was a hotbed for viruses. People in very close proximity coughed and sneezed with no mask. Plus they kept the temp so warm it was bound to be a Covid disaster. I ended up with Covid after these bus rides. The timeline all points to these awful bus trips. The cruise didn't have a lot of passengers and we all were safely distanced from others. So no, it wasn't the cruise ship. You are only in the hotels for a few hours before you are herded off like cattle to the next destination. It's stressful and rushed. You also spend most of your time waiting in lobbies so you can fight for a decent location in the bus. I truly hated this 3 day land tour and will never do it again or recommend to any friends. The cruise part definitely wil recommend! Loved every second of it. The sapphire princess ship crew was very diverse and had staff from all over the world. It was wonderful getting to know them and learning their stories. We were so impressed by our experience on the Sapphire Princess that we even discussed planning another cruise with Princess. That changed after we got off the boat and did the land portion. That really put a sour end to a perfect sailing experience. It doesn't matter tho. We will still book a trip, but will stay on the seas. I think princess needs to reevaluate their land portion of these trips. They are a disaster. here we go a bag got left in security tried to go back to retrieve it they would not let me off the ship four hours before sailing they assured me it would be on the boat at customer services later never showed up had to pay $223.65 to have the bag shipped from Vancouver back to California trying to get a refund from Princess is a joke. They had no problem taking my $7000 for their trip first day on the boat, couldn't wait to get in the hot tub. There's five hot tubs on the Caribbean princess none of the Jets work so you get 100° bathwater five places on the ship money I paid could pay to fix all their hot tubs. A lot of the elevators did not work. A lot of the women's bathroom did not work and if I don't get this refund, I will never sail with Princess again, though the crew were spectacular. I am on the cruise know and it is my last day. The views are amazing and the food is good. I am disappointed in the room. I got a balcony room because I wanted to enjoyed the views without the crowd. My door handle to the balcony was loose, the balcony light didn't come and and they tried fixing it a few times with no luck and the balcony barrier was filthy and cloudy. The Steward did his best to resolve the issues but only could fix the door handle. The hotel general manager asked for feedback via a form to fill out to all the passengers in the middle of the cruise and to provided these issues. The called me the next day asked if I wanted them fixed (which they didn't) and said that they would compensate $500 on a cruise within 1 year. I said I wasn't sure if I would be cruising again that soon. I asked that it be applied to the current cruise but they only applied $125. This was my first time with Princess Cruises. I had an amazing experience and lots of great memories. We booked the Alaska cruise which we sailed on Island Princess. This cruise ship was spacious and nicely decorated. Total of 16 floors with excellent views all around the cruise ship. Lots of activities abroad: fitness gym, salon area, kids' area, several spacious lounge areas, 2 swimming pools, 2 jacuzzi, basketball court on level 16, Zumba lessons, Voice of the Ocean, new releases movies, and spacious Princess theater for shows and lectures. They even a designated smoking area. Our cruise director Natalie Costa was amazing. She went through all events very well and was very knowledgeable in everything. It was a pleasure speaking and learning from her. I even joked with her on how she can everywhere and be so optimistic all the time. She replied that she just had to keep putting on her rechargeable batteries and she's like the Energizer bunny. Love her personality and enthusiasm. Dining Experience at Bordeaux was superb. I had the pleasure of being serviced by Lemuel Victoria and Jayson Tolentino with our special Table 30 in Bordeaux dining room. George the main manager was very courteous and Sonja also assisted in taking us to the right table. Lemuel and Jayson are hilarious and very friendly to conversate with. Jayson gave great recommendations on entrees and Lemuel gave great suggestions on desserts. I truly enjoyed my dining experience with these 2 servers. Definitely have never gotten such great dining service anywhere else. Beyond 10 stars. I also visited Horizon Buffet. Great experience. Lots of foods to choose from. Giving it a 9/10 because there were times when items were requested it took a long time to come or I had to ask several times. Most of the times, the service was pretty good. Lots of yummy desserts and teas to enjoy. My dining experience at Sabatini went well. I thoroughly enjoyed my Italian dining experience. Abel was amazing. We told him we had to make dining fast so he was able to bring out appetizers and entrees quickly so that we can attend another Broadway show. He was very polite and courteous and gave may refills on teas, bread, and lots of wine to enjoy. Shopping at EFFY store was interesting. There are many events and raffles which were fun. I also learned a lot about canary diamonds and alexandrite from Emily. Concierge member Yana gave also great recommendation on which style of jewelry to wear. However, I feel that the quality and design were not up to par and up to my standards. As for entertainment, I loved all the shows (Encore, On the Bayou, and Story of Silk) and lectures that were offered and comedy shows. I also got a chance to attend a few lectures on whales, fishing, and Libby Riddle's (first female Iditarod champion) journey as a champion and met her doggie Cancan. I also got the chance to play and cuddle with 5-week-old Alaskan husky puppies. They are so adorable!!! Definitely an excellent chance in a lifetime to meet native puppies. Wonderful experience. Also got a chance to participate in Voice of the Ocean where we get to judge cruise passengers on their singing skills. Very fun! On Shore Excursions at Icy Strait Point: We decided to take the tribal tour which gave a view of the surrounding city and local life. Got to see a few bears and lots of bald eagles. Tribal dance was demonstrated and we learned a lot of history and stories of the totem pole On Shore Excursions at Juneau: We signed up for the whales watching experience. Definitely worth it. Got to see several whales and even tail flapping! After this long boat ride, we went and visited Mendenhall Glacier, Lake, and Nugget Falls. Spectacular view. Totally worth the 2-mile hike total back and forth to experience this phenomenon. On Shore Excursions at Skagway. We signed up for the White Pass and Yukon Route which gave you the chance to cross Canada border and visit Lake Bennett. This whole day excursion was the best experience in my life. We started off at Skagway and went northbound, passed Gold Rush Cemetery, Denver glacier trail, rocky point, bracket road, Buchanan rock, black cross, bridal veil falls, heney station, glacier station, tunnel mountain, inspiration point, dead horse gulch, steel bridge, another tunnel, trail of '98, white pass summit, Fraser at British Columbia, Bennett at British Columbia, and ended at Carcoss and white horse Yukon Territory. Amazing experience worth the scenic view and fresh air and beautiful nature all around. Overall, I have to say this first cruise experience was well organized. Always a friendly staff member willing to help you out at all times. On shore excursions at Icy Strait Point, Juneau, and Skagway were excellent. Really a good time to spend with family and friends and reconnect with living life to the fullest! read more

Star Princess - "North to Alaska" cruise!!! (June 17-24, 2017) My oh my, where do I even start??? I absolutely loved every second spent on the ship!! We started in beautiful Vancouver on a bright and sunny day... the "welcome aboard" festivities were simply perfect! Lots of festive music, dancing characters, pool excitement and smiling bartenders! What a send-off! From the minute we stepped foot aboard the vessel, we felt welcome. I could go on and on naming our favorite servers, waiters, bartenders, housekeepers, etc.... but I think it is just easier to say that not one of them was unfriendly or seemed to not love their job. We felt like personal friends with quite a few by the time we reached Anchorage. We kept busy with all the things the cruise had to offer; dancing, crafts, karaoke, pool, hot tub, our beloved balcony, bars, live music and our favorite of all was The Voice of the Ocean (yes, folks, it was officially "The Voice" only on our ship) and I'm proud to say that my amazing nephew won in the final round. Couldn't have been more perfect for our family of 9 and a guy who will be heading off to college in the fall. Fun competition and so many amazing singers were onboard! Who knew?? We loved each of the ports; Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. Each had it's own unique feel and the time allotted off ship was very reasonable. We didn't do any of the excursions through Princess though (we booked separate). I'm sure all ships do this, but how wonderful it was while touring through Glacier Bay and College Fjords that the ship did several sloooowwwwwww 360s so each part of the ship was able to enjoy it's massive beauty and splendor! Hearing the crack of the ice was simply amazing. Our final stop up in Whittier/Anchorage went smooth as we departed the ship. The crew and instructions were easy to follow and there was no mad rush or cattle call feeling. Everything from our first step on to our last step off was magnificent!!! Thank you Star Princess!!! THINK TWICE ABOUT PRINCESS CRUISES, AND GOOD LUCK GETTING A REFUND CHECK AFER YOUR CRUISE IF YOU'RE OWED A REFUND. We pre-paid cruise, excursions, etc before sailing 7 days in Alaska from Seattle. Our excursion was canceled by the ship due to weather understandably so. We stayed within our package budget and have an overpayment total of $1314.33 from our helicopter dogsled canceled excursion. I've contacted customer service, customer relations, email, live chat, and everywhere else almost 20-30 times in the last 6 weeks since we came home. I must've spent 8-10 hours so far on trying to get OUR $ back. Did you know they "assume" if you have an overpayment you want them to keep it as a "future cruise credit" unless you contact them a million times to beg, plead, and demand your $ back? Pretty much just bad service. Food mediocre. Had to search for cocktail servers. Room delivery off. Then my husband was diagnosed with COVID. So he had to go into isolation. Not their fault. We were informed we could not continue with the land excursion part and would have to disembark. Again a good SOP. But then we were told we were on our own for arrangements on land. Trying to speak to someone was impossible. Do we get refunded for land portion???? No answer. Can we change our flights to go home earlier???? Nope!!! We were out on a bus and dropped off at the airport in Anchorage. No assistance there. Could not change our reservation directly with Delta....Princess is the only one who could change it. 4 days later. Still no new airline tickets. We are stranded in Anchorage. 5 nights on our own tab that we did NOT budget for. Ohhhh. Did I mention we are senior citizens on a fixed income. One star rating is giving them more than they deserve. They totally gouged my family for money. 1). Because one of our birthday's was the wrong year, they charged us $700 to change it., and said they have to cancel our original nonstop flight and put us in another flight separate from the rest of our family. Not only did they replace our nonstop flight that we paid extra, with a 5 hour stopover flight and did not reimburse us for the difference of the lower fare. 2).our original nonstop flight was the closest to the cruise terminal. They replaced our nonstop with a flight that lands 2 hours from our cruise ship, which costs $400 to take a taxi. Then they found a misspelling of one of our names. The only way to change the spelling was to pay $2600 solid...seriously..all of this money went to Princess, with the exception of $400 which the airline charged. Princess cruises has amazing customer service for the majority of the time. We loved our stateroom steward and waiters. They were amazing and always did their absolute best. The photography staff was awful! We had bought packages and were extremely disappointed with their attitude and treatment of customers. The photos took too long to take and were not good quality. Anthony was one of the worst workers in the photo studio. He was snotty and unhelpful. Our stateroom had carpet stains on the floor, which was the only issue. Our balcony gave way for majestic views. I've been on numerous cruises with my family when I was younger, but this last week was my first cruise to Alaska! We took the Golden Princess 7 day inside passage route. We added on transportation from Anchorage on our first day, and that was actually better than expected. They held onto our luggage for an hour or so while we were able to walk around and explore Anchorage a bit. We then boarded the bus and headed out on time. The bus driver actually gave quite a little tour guiding which was a pleasant surprise. The bus then dropped us off at the ship and we easily/quickly checked in and boarded the ship! Rooms were nice. Small but that is to be expected, but they did have PLENTY of drawers and shelf space. We shared a room with 3 adults, and were all able to unpack all of our belongings! Beds were comfortable, fold-down bunk bed was decent, not great. Shower was tiny, a bit outdated (shower curtain could use some refreshing). Everyone that worked on board was AMAZING. So nice. Room stewards came and brought us anything we needed and made up the rooms twice a day. My parents got a room with a balcony which was much pricier, but I'd say worth it. It was nice to have a balcony we could all hang out on (5 of us) and watch the scenic views of the glaciers. We did anytime dining, and every waiter we had was superb. Great service. One night we paid for the upscale dining, which was also good. I'd say worth it for one night, but most of the food on the any time dining menu was also really great. There was a coffee shop/café which was actually our favorite place to eat. Paninis and soups, a nice change from the lunch buffets. The "included" coffee was crap. It came out of a spout (like a beer tap), but often ran clear instead of brown, so who knows how much actual coffee there was in there. There's a coffee package available from the coffee shop that I highly recommend if you want any caffeine in your day. Piano player in the evenings was super fun and entertaining. Casino didn't have a Craps table, so that was a little upsetting. Gym was fine. Treadmills, ellipticals and bikes. Classes were $15-$20 each, or a 3 pack for $40 which I did, and thought it was worth it. 3 days at sea, 3 gym classes. They had yoga, spin and boot camp (don't expect soul cycle, but you're on a cruise so it's okay!) We booked 2 excursions through the cruise, both were great. A beautiful downhill bike ride in Skagway, and sea kayaking in Juneau. There's a messaging app you can download, so even though you don't have cell service, you can still message other people on the ship as long as you're connected, which was pretty nice. I never went in the pools, I heard they were freezing. Hot tubs need a lot of updating. It was really nice to sit out in the hot tubs and watch us sail past the glaciers, but the hot tubs were old, dirty, made weird noises, jets didn't work that well, and were often not hot enough. read more

Princess has such an investment in infrastructure there is really no other company you can use for an Alaskan tour. The buses, bubbletop trains, 2 lodges and exclusive access by the cruise ships to the glaciers makes for an incredible vacation everyone should try. On the critical side, the average age on this tour is 68 and the variety and flavor of food on the ship matches that palette. DO NOT BUY A PRINCESS CRUISE!!!!! My parents and I planned on going to Alaska and bought a 7-day cruise from Anchorage to Vancouver, leaving in June 2022. Unfortunately, my parents tested positive for COVID-19 and we couldn't board on the cruise. Not a problem so far. However, when we tried to reschedule our trip, Princess Cruises credited us only 75% of the price we paid for the cruise, discounting the taxes that they said couldn't be refunded to us. This is outrageous - we didn't cancel the cruise because we wanted to, but because my parents were sick and denied boarding. Also, they gave us the credit for a limited time - we had only 1 year to use it, or we would lose more than USD 10,000. So be extra careful when you contract any cruises from them because they are not a relying company!! read more

This isn't our first cruise but it was our first time with Princess. I have to say it was a disappointment of sorts. Pros: The balcony was a lot bigger than expected. The room had great closet space with plenty of hangers. The room was clean and in good condition for the most part, couple of spot had water issues and ripped carpet but jot enough to bother me. They had recent movies playing both on deck and on TV. The pre record TV shows were current. Customer Service on the phone is extremely helpful and the wait is never too long. Cons: The food was so bland and I was really looking forward to good food for the Alaskan crusie. The entertainment was definitely for older people. They only had 2 comedy shows the rest was magic, dancing, and presentations. Their excursion customer service needs work. I assume because they don't get a share of the tips they don't care about their service. It should be a policy if a excursion gets cancelled they should alert the guest at least the morning of, but they didn't tell us until the time it was suppose to start. The bathroom shower is super small, I'm not sure even a child would be comfortable. Overall the best part was seeing the sights and wildlife, but I would have seen that on any cruise. I've already booked another crusie with Princess because I didn't think this one would be so disappointing. If iur next ine is the same, we'll probably never cruise with Princess again. read more

7 day Island Princess Alaskan Cruise Note: My bf and I were probably one of the few younger couples on the ship. This was a good and bad thing. Some of the events/activities were geared towards an older crowd so we were bored at times. Also, the Island Princess is one of the smaller cruise ships so I believe there were less things to do. I would def. go on a cruise again for relaxation and fun without having to plan the trip, BUT I would try another cruise ship perhaps with a water slide, rock climbing wall, more gym classes, etc. Princess should just advertise themselves as the cruise ship for retirees, mid-aged to seniors. PROS: -Great food.. The buffet food was pretty good, but I enjoyed the food at the formal dining areas even more. Anytime dining was great as we had the option to eat anytime in the formal areas. Because there were just 2 of us, we almost never had to wait and we were fine with sitting with other people. In fact, I enjoyed sitting with others as we talked about traveling, jobs, food, photography, the excursions, etc. Note: You won't get to eat some of the fancier foods at the buffet. We were sad that we couldn't eat lobster since we didn't have formal clothes to wear for the 2 formal dining nights (wanted to travel light so we didn't have to check in our luggage on our flights). -Great service -Good Shows: We thoroughly enjoyed the comedy shows, game shows, food carving and cooking demo, tour of the kitchen. -Comfortable room though it was small. Enjoyed having cabin with ocean view. -Zumba Class and dance classes. -Nice indoor pool since it was too cold to swim outside. However, the jacuzzi was a bit small and it broke down frequently. -Loved viewing the artwork sold on the ship. -Note: if you're going on the cruise at the end of the season in September, they have numerous sales on souvenir items, but you can also find similar or better deals shopping at the ports. -Nice views from cruise ship. -Excursions: Though excursions are slightly more expensive booked through the cruise ship, the majority of people that we spoke to enjoyed their excursions. CONS: -Hard Sales especially the 1st day. Since beverages are not free (only tea, coffee, juice), they try to sell you a 1 week card for discounted drinks. I did not appreciate being approached by 5 different waiters during my meals to purchase them. In addition, some waiters were more agressive in trying to selling alcohol or certain events (i.e. wine tasting) throughout the trip. -Tiny shower in bathroom. Big people beware! -Limited Free gym classes. I was SO disappointed that there were only 2 free 30 minute gym classes (abs and stretch) and they were at 7am! I was looking forward to taking a variety of aerobics, yoga, cardio classes for free as I did 15 years ago when I took an Alaskan Princess Cruise. However, now they charge $10/class for yoga, pilates, etc. -Expensive Internet and Phone Service. -Raffles/Prizes- They entice you to go to all kinds of sales events by advertising daily raffles and telling you that you have to present for the raffle in order to be eligible. Island Princess - Whittier AK to Vancouver BC - July 2019 This was my first cruise, and most likely my last but not because of the quality of the ship - it is just that I am very much an outdoor kind of person, and sitting on a ship - kind of not my thing. Alaska was wonderful. We went up the inland passage and were never out of site of land. I was outside 90% of the time (other than sleeping and eating) in my hat, coat and gloves, watching the world with binoculars. There was SO much wildlife; humpback whales, otters, seals, sea birds, bald eagles dall porpoises. Porting in Alaska was wonderful, beautiful! The villages are amazing. Some of the excursions were absolutely wonderful, tons of thumbs up; Hubbard Glacier within Glacier National Park, Whale Watching in Juneau, train in Skagway (beautiful), jeep tour in Ketchikan (canoe portion of this - eh). Thumbs down - only the horseback riding in Skagway. (Too short, too loud (a screaming historian/guide the entire way) not an adventure and we fed the horses in a meadow for the stable for 20 minutes). The ship - The food was fine. I pretty much only ate in the Horizon buffet (mostly because I could wear my jeans and hiking boots). Nothing fancy, but it is a buffet, and good. The view from there was gorgeous. My room was clean, and perfect for me. The entertainment was fun in the Princess Theater. Most of the staff was very nice, just busy. (I never did get my promised robe. :-) ). So, if you are a cruiser, Princess is great. If you want to explore Alaska in ways you can only see from a ship, this is perfect. read more

We sailed an Alaskan cruise inside passage this time on the Island Princess. The entertainment was great and the food was wonderful. The only place food. Oils improve is the buffet things. We had L721 suite, I can highly recommend this room. The view was fantastic. The weather stopped some activities on the balcony but it was still great. We ate at both speciality restaurants and loved it. We had nice wine and great drinks. Be careful, the Cognac in the pretty bottle at the bar is not on the drink package. It is pricey. It does come in a heated crystal glass for $95.00 a shot. It is good, it is like candy but not worth $95.00. We met great people on board from everywhere in the world. Lots of Texans on this cruise, like us. Give Princess a try. read more

This was our first cruise with princess and we sailed on the STAR Princess in Alaska. Hopefully the other ships offer a better experience sailing in this area. While the staff service was excellent, the buffet food was terrible. Eggs were served cold and yogurt and footage chews was warm which threw up flags. Coffee was either watered down or not to be found. I understand they are serving 2600 people but this was not an issue on other cruise lines the only decent meal we had on ship was Sebastiani's which was excellent with upgrade fee. We also enjoyed the sanctuary going thru glacier bay. The second half if our trip on land offered better food options the second week. I will say transportation from destination to destination was outstanding. No luggage was lost and all rooms were ready when we arrived going from lodge to lodge. They need to get a new food manager on the star. Next time around will go back to Holland and other cruise lines. read more

This was our first cruise and we were very excited! This was a gift for my mom and I knew that it would be slower paced but even she was bored on "at sea" days. The entertainment was lacking. We were very annoyed at the constant sales pitches, especially for Effy jewelry. Seriously, do people go on cruises to buy overpriced jewels? As another person said, they push the drink packages and unless you are either 1) a lush 2) a coffee addict or 3) perpetually thirsty, these things are never worth it. Alaska is beautiful, there's no question, but we felt like the ports of call were all in cahoots with the ship and they all had a ridiculous number of jewelry shops with people anxious to nab disembarking passengers. The buffet was disgusting. I wouldn't feed it to my dog. The dining option was nice but more for the opportunity to meet all kinds of new people than for the food. Island Princess was a good ship. Much better than other cruise lines but food was not as good as other Princess ships. Horizon buffet was very disappointing. Only great food was in the bordogh for lunch. Sheets had holes worn in them. Got a half price deal and that was what it was worth. The really bad part was on the land portion when the scheduled us for a five hour bus tour of Denali followed by a two and one half hour trip to Fairbanks with only 45 minutes between them. No time for eating. Ended up cancelling the tour which was included in the price because we could not stand the idea of eight straight hours on a bus. Scheduling needs to be rethought. Unable to see any of Denali because of this. Also they bounced our luggage down a flight of stairs at Denali lodge and broke the wheel off. They never told us. We found the wheel on the stairs with the plastic frame. read more

I would highly recommend Princess Cruise for anyone wanting to experience the southern coast of Alaska! The staff was excellent & everything was kept extremely clean! Although it is more expensive (and many things cost extra) overall it was worth the money spent! The food was just okay, and the coffee was bad even if you pay extra for it, but otherwise I enjoyed the experience! Just got back from a 12 day land tour/cruise. It was a fabulous vacation. Peter Grady was excellent as our land tour director and took care of us the entire time. He gave exemplary customer service and looked after every detail along the way. It was nice to have someone guide us and pamper us and be available at all times. We have never had such a great tour director before - kudos to Peter Grady! The cruise part was great as well - the ship's staff also had exceptional customer service - we wanted for nothing the entire cruise. It was a delightful vacation on land as well as on sea. We would do it again in a heart beat. Traveling with Princess was easy as they owned the lodges as well as the train cars an made it simple to book excursions on land and sea. We took a 14 day land sea combo lot of positive lot of negative we landed in anchorage after flyong in from Ontario Ca group of 7 I assured everyone someone from princess would meet us at the airport to take us to our first hotel ..I was wrong no one had a clue we finally got a mini van driver to try and take us to first hotel but van filled up before we could load ..They said stand by will get another van right away then it starts to rain .Can you see I am more than ticked off at this point .Next day bus driver took us on long bus ride to copper canyon .The bus driver was nice not blaming anything on the workers I blame Princess ..We were told there was bottle water but take only 2 bottles and refill them at the dif hotels On of the Princess hotel water looked like coffee no yjan you i will but my on water I have more to say will do more tomorrow read more

We took the 7 day Voyage of the Glaciers cruise with our two kids. We booked a mini suite with balcony which was very comfortable. Ports of call were great and Alaska was beautiful. Service was excellent. The at sea days were tough as activities seemed designed for old folks. The activities for younger people seemed like the sorts of things old folks would think younger people would enjoy. Also, if you aren't used to processed food pick another cruise. Buffet was like Costco frozen. Dining rooms were like Costco frozen premium. Pay extra restaurants were like Olive Garden. Sensitive stomachs should avoid this cruise. read more

I think Princess does a really nice job with the organization and food, etc. We had a mini-suite with a balcony (the little extra room was worth the extra cost in my opinion). I'm not really the cruise type but I did really enjoy myself - as this was my first trip to Alaska. I'm not the cruse type because I don't really enjoy only having timed ports of call (I felt like I was always looking at my watch to return on time). I would still like to visit Alaska again someday and see all that I missed. I would've given this cruise a 5-star rating but we signed up (and paid handsomely) for a couple of additional spa services (massage, etc). While the services were ok, they put so much pressure on their staff to sell you overpriced products that I was slightly annoyed. And then they call you (in your room) the remainder of the trip to continuously try to sell you stuff (I didn't buy anything). so we unplugged our room phone. Everything else was done nicely.
