They do a…read moreweather forecast each day and let you know if there will be good or bad weather to see the aurora. We got a message saying the night we booked did not look so good so we pushed it to the next night. The weather was better for seeing and we had a great time. You let them know what hotel you are at and they will tell you want time that they are picking you up. They take you to two locations to see the aurora and teach you how to setup your camera or phone. This is very helpful as we never used the night functions on the camera or phone before and to get the best shots you need to have the correct settings. They provide a tripod if you do not have one. They also take a group shot of your party if you want so you have professional photos with your group with the aurora in the background. They also provide some snacks and hot drinks. They had the van running while we took photos for those who wanted to go warm up as the temperature was 23 degrees. Definitely worth it!!

The owner, Russ, was very accommodating and set me up for a tour starting only two hours later. Eventually the group grew to three people and Russ picked us up at the Hilton promptly at 11. This was exactly what I was looking for. I spent a very enjoyable four hours with Russ, who grew up in Alaska and who knows the state backwards and forwards. Russ has a great deal of civic pride as well! Russ gave us a comprehensive look at the after-effects of the big earthquake during the 60s, where entire homes were moved up to two or three city blocks! The ground shifted so much it made a once perfectly flat neighborhood into a neighborhood with lots of hills! Russ has a sharp eye for wildlife, and besides mountain goats and sheep, we actually got to see a moose! Ross absolutely loves his home state, and you will learn a lot driving around with him. And have a pretty good time doing it, as well!

On today's tour I learned that 99 million gallons of water flow under Matanuska Glacier each day; Glacial water comes out of her at 28 degrees & can freeze at 29 degrees; she is moving 12-16 inches a day(normal is 10 inches)and that a loud Popcorn sound IS never a good sound! We landed on the beach and went on hike to find bears. We found them, they were eating sedge grass in the meadow and some were on the beach clamming. Bonus, we saw a fox and some bald eagles. First off.. the only way to get there is by Bush plane from the Anchorage airport. We were picked up and flown to the beautiful and quite Talaheim lodge. Once we landed we were given a tour of the grounds, which are beautiful and we were taken to our cabin. My fiancé and I had our own two story cabin with running water, electricity and a fireplace. It was perfect! During our vacation at the lodge we went on fishing excursions with our very own guide (who made us a great lunch), we went heli-hiking to Beluga Mountains, we took a helicopter to a glacier, we read, relaxed, had the BEST food and heard the most amazing stories that were told by the owner, Mark Miller. I would go back from Mark's stories alone. He was an incredible host and has a very friendly and talented staff. I can't wait to go back!

Everything they promise on their website is that much and more. We were greeted by the staff upon arrival by plane, and shown our accommodations. We loved our cabin next to the lodge and it was the perfect comfy cozy room to come home to after a long day on the water. The food was amazing! The guides all knowledgeable, the sights seen from a helicopter priceless including a HUGE grizzly on a ridge, 3 black wolves and bull moose grazing. It is hard to not repeat the previous reviewer but add instead. Both my husband and I are experience flyfishers and the fishing was smokin' hot! We used streamers, egg and mouse patterns, droppers, poppers and dries when needed. We lost count of fish count within the first hour or two. They are measured by pounds not by inches. Silvers, Dollies, Pinks, 'Bows, on and on......Since this is a small lodge, you became friendly with the other guests and staff pretty quick. A fun group. I appreciated the snacks and drinks in the mini fridge that was refreshed daily as well as the Alaska Ale on tap and wine after a long rewarding day out. The scenery spectacular and whole experience amazing We would go back in a heart beat and hope to soon.

Again, if you need to get to Seward from the Anchorage airport, Red Eye Rides is top notch.

The proprietors at the Airbnb I was at recommended a bush plane from Seldovia to homer to catch my flight from ravn air. I looked around and found a company that would take me from Seldovia to anchorage for 180$.... Ravn gives a full credit for cancellations (yay #ravnair ) and I got to take the most amazing flight with a very friendly pilot... I think his name was Mauricio and if not I am sorry as you were terrific!. Take is easy on this guy as he goes homer to four beautiful kiddos under the age of 7. There were a couple other passengers and I got to see a couple of really cute airports. The flight felt like a minute and I wish it lasted a lot longer.. if I save up for next summer I will be learning to fly one of these planes based on this experience. The owner took us to anchorage airport (15$- totally worth it and cheaper then any Uber). but my flight was about 7 hours away and I asked if there was a good place to enjoy the fresh air. he took me to a park with a lovely restaurant that let me charge my phone :). The front desk was wonderful and let me store my luggage. I sat on the grass and watched the float plane park and all its activity and I took a nice walk.. Looking to fulfill a once in a lifetime dream, I found Ellison Air and he made my dream come true…read more Found his website surfing the internet and he offers a unique variety of Alaska Air Tours for a very reasonable price. Being a passenger on a cruise ship we had limited time, so we opted for the 30 minutes Local Seaplane Tour. The owner and pilot Chris, checked and fueled the plane since we were the first passengers that day. After a quick explanation of the safety systems ( life jackets and the like), setting up the headset with mic and after helping us with the seatbelts we were almost ready for takeoff. He contacted air traffic control, did a few rounds on the lake to warmup the engine and then we were airborne. This was the moment we came for... an exciting though smooth takeoff. During the tour Chris would tell us all about nature and wildlife and show us points of interest by tipping the wings down for a better view. We had a smooth landing on the lake and he made a quick "water splashing turn", which was really nice! We want to thank Chris for this wonderful experience, which we will never forget! We had to pay a cancellation fee but we did cancel the morning of the flight so that was only fair.
