I have to admit that I was a little shocked when they requested a 100% deposit ($4500) 10 months in advance. but, I called them up about 1 week ahead of the two tours we booked, Katmai and Lake Clark National Parks and they were right on top of it. They called me back a day in advance to review arrival times, the itinerary, and what we needed for clothes, food, etc. We arrived a little early and offered coffee or spring water and a very comfortable seating area after we checked in. Our first day we were flown in a 10 seater for about 2 hours to a village called King Salmon, I believe where we were transferred to a 10 seater pontoon boat that flew us to the Brooks area of Katmai. it was a spectacular day of watching the bears feeding off the salmon at the falls. After spending much of the day exploring the park and taking a cultural tour we were flown back to Anchorage. The pilot was extremely knowledgeable of the history, geology, and geography of the flight and made a deviation to circle the volcano crater of Mt Spur. The next we arrived again and then escorted to another building where we watched a film on bear safety and then fitted with water proof boots for walking thru the waters to view the bears. we were flown in a smaller 6 seater plane (just 5 passenger) to Katmai NP where we watched bears digging for clams in several locations. A most excellent lunch box with our choice of a sandwich, granola bar, assorted chips, apple, and a tasty pasta salad and beverage was provided. At the end of our tour, we were flown back to Anchorage. The staff including Anna-Lynn, both pilots, Dan & Abel were all super customer service oriented (something sorely missed to frequently these days). Today we found out our flight leaving King Salmon to Anchorage was canceled and we booked a flight using Regal Air for 3600 for the 5 of us. The pilot was precessional and the departure experience and flight experience without a problem. When we arrived, Tony( not sure if he was the owner) open the rear exit hatch and motioned for me to exit. As I got through the planes door, the exit hatch came down and hit me on the head. He did not say anything or apologize. Initially when he was unloading the bags, I did not see mine and when I asked him about it he asked if I brought the bag with me. Kind or rude I thought. While waiting in the office paying the bill for the flight, he turned off the lights before we left. Also he said that he something to the effect that he would charge people with bad attitudes more for a flight. My suggestion is to be courteous and nice to customers.. Fantastic trip from start to finish! Rye was an excellent pilot and guide. He was so informative about what we saw from both the air and land. We were able to see plenty of bears at Lake Clark National park and even had one pass our group about 15 feet away. The trip was worth every penny. Our experience with Regal was stellar! We were with another couple that we didn't know, but all of the passengers were used to small airplanes, so no issues there. Our pilot, Kip, was stellar. He pointed out things and gave the background, but it wasn't like a "performance." And he's a great pilot! Landed in the beach, saw bears and took pictures near the river. Back to the beach for a perfect lunch. Flew off and wandered around in the air looking at waterfalls, inlets and more bears. Absolutely the best. Recommend them highly! We came back happy, full and with a camera full of bear pictures. Couldn't ask for more. read more

The pilots were great but the owner is very rude and unprofessional. The reason for the one star is because of a safety issue the owner wanted to ignore, as we were getting ready to fly out to a lodge south of Anchorage. Loaded and ready to head out, the pilot noticed that we had no oil pressure so we were ask to unload and wait while they looked into the issue. This was fine by us as safety comes first. So we were directed to an office which happened to be the owners. Upon our arrival no greeting except a look up from paperwork, ok fine I can live with that but what happened next was totally unacceptable in any business. Tim the owner got up from his desk went out the door and jumped into the plane and started the engine and proceeded moving it back and forth revving the engine again great find the problem. Then he jumped out and yelled at the pilot that it was marginal (meaning the oil pressure) and stated it was fine to fly. The pilot was not wanting to go because of this issue and I was totally surprised by the owners behavior. He was putting us and his pilot at risk. I happen to work as a RN and if one of our team is uncomfortable with what is happening with a patient and their safety we stop and review/educate with the group, everyone must be comfortable with the care. It's all about safety and trusting the people that have your life in their hands. Which by Tim's behavior I felt it didn't matter to him. Well they ended up getting another plane and pilot the flight was fine. All I can say is thanks to both pilots for their professional behavior and concern. Exceptional! With very limited sunlight hours and an early afternoon flight we had a minimal time window to squeeze in a scenic flight during a recent overnight trip to Anchorage. The pilot was very knowledgeable (despite his young looks, he had 20 years experience flying!). He tried to find a place to land on a glacier (!) but since there weren't any existing tracks, he decided it unsafe to be the first to see whether the plane could handle a landing. We ended up landing next to a river and he let us out of the airplane to explore. Regal was very accommodating and even made sure we had a drive back to the airport. Thanks to regal air for getting us back home. We were out at our fly-in only lake cabin and had some mechanical issues with our plane. If I could give a 10 star review I would. Our pilot, Dave, was a very nice man and a great pilot. It was my first time on a small aircraft and he flew the plane very smoothly all the way to lake Clark to see bears. Once we landed my party and I left to view bears, (we saw lots of bears) and when we returned our pilot had taken the time to search the beach for sea shells for my 8 year old sister. Then, a storm rolled in and we flew back, the flight was a little bumpy but Dave flew us all home through it, if it was not for that we would have had to stay over night in a remote cabin messing up the rest of our vacation. Regal Air is awesome! We were in town and looking to see some glaciers and view the landscape from the air. Matt was very helpful with setting up our trip and Nick was an awesome pilot. We opted for the 90 minute trip and it was the perfect amount of time to see the dramatic Alaska landscape with lots of great narration from our pilot. The first day we booked wouldn't have been the greatest ride, so it was suggested that it would be much better if we could wait another day - we did and the weather was absolutely perfect. We booked a bear viewing tour to Katmai National Park on Regal Air. It was more than a hundred dollars per person more than booking flights on Katmai Air through King Salmon, but I'd heard horror stories online about people who took Katmai Air getting stranded in King Salmon and getting little to no bear viewing time and not being given a refund. I thought, based on the itinerary on Regal Air's website, that our flights on Regal Air would be direct from Anchorage to Katmai and would avoid the risk of getting stranded/delayed (the itinerary says "Depart Anchorage: 8:00 AM, Land at Katmai: 10:45 AM" with no mention of a stopover). Imagine my surprise then, when we landed in King Salmon and were transferred to a Katmai Air floatplane for the flight to Katmai. My husband and I were looking at each other like "Did we just pay $300 for a boxed lunch?" That said, we got door-to-door service in King Salmon and were shuttled from our Anchorage-King Salmon flight directly to weigh-in and right onto a float plane to Katmai with almost no delay. I don't know if we would have gotten the same service if we had booked with Katmai Air. We did get our promised 4 hours in the national park, although keep in mind that this can be as little as 2 hours on the bear viewing platforms once you factor in bear orientation and allowing for "bear jams" that prevent you from crossing the bridge to the platforms (of course, the platforms are not the only places to see bears - we saw them on the floatplane beach at both arrival and departure and on the bridge). The floatplane flights were a lot of fun and not scary at all and the flight from Anchorage to King Salmon was smooth and filled with beautiful views of the Alaska range. On the return flight from King Salmon to Anchorage the pilot took a different route and flew through Lake Clark pass. I have no reason to believe it was actually dangerous and the pilot did not seem concerned (although a little verbal reassurance that we were not in any danger would have been nice), but our tiny plane was bouncing around like a kernel in a popcorn machine and getting what seemed to me to be insanely close to the sheer granite face of the mountain. I was absolutely terrified, so much so that we cancelled a planned flight-seeing at Denali the next day. The scenery was breathtaking but I couldn't enjoy it at all because I was so freaked out. I'm not a nervous flier at all (I normally fly around 50K miles/year) but I have never been so glad to put my feet on solid ground. I also recommend bringing motion sickness meds if you're prone to that. read more

How to get a glimpse of the biggest state when in Anchorage for 40 hours? Take a ride with Regal Air. We chose the 3.5 hour sightseeing tour of Denali. Anchorage was blue skies but Denali is famous for clouds. We feel very fortunate we were able to see the top above the clouds. Mountain flying is a challenge but our pilot Devon made it look easy. Take off and landings were perfect. I was amazed flying in and out of glacier valleys. It felt like you could touch the mountains. We went up to the ice field of Ruth Glacier up to the Don Sheldon Mountain House. It was the trip of a lifetime. read more
