Overheard an employee joking that nothing gets done on time at Mount Sinai because they are on 'Mount Sinai Time'. I hope people reading this stop donating to this sham of a hospital and the utterly pitiful men and women that "work" here. The women who "work" in the 'spiritual and mental health' care centres are horrendous. Zero professionalism or EQ displayed when my wife came seeking care for her fibromyalgia. Since being vocal about this units negligence she has since been denied clarification of her diagnosis for which she feels was not administered appropriately. I will NEVER donate another red cent to this hospital of which I was BORN in, after the way my wife was treated and spoken to. I can only imagine how many others have had to deal with the grossly IMMATURE women working in this department! Average doctor today has an EGO to the MOON. Slightest bit of criticism leaves them all chatting about you and resulting in a cascade of service denials. And this coming from a country that claims to be the antithesis to Islamic Oppression HA. What an embarassment Universal Health Care has become under the average doctor here whose family surely paid for their diplomas! Thank goodness for YELP and Google review ensuring the publics voice is heard in ABUNDANCE!

It's a beautiful building that's well maintained without the usual strong odors (bodily nor industrial), maybe because there wasn't too many patients nor visitors around. On the main floor next to the west terrace you can find the Max Tannenbaum Sculpture Garden which has 20 vibrantly colored sculptures that depict the human body in graceful yet powerful poses (see my many pictures). There are a couple terraces on the 5th floor as well, one of which has a beautiful view of the Don River. They also have a rooftop garden where you can sit and relax. From this vantage point you can view East Chinatown, Lake Ontario and even the towering buildings of Downtown. It was so quiet that all I could hear was a chorus of chirping crickets, relaxing indeed!. TIPS: -Don't forget to check out the Old Don Jail next door which has been converted and now houses the administrative offices of the hospital. There is a free self guided tour that you can take of the facility. - Have lunch at the park next door. - Visit the Zhong Hua Men Archway (https://www.yelp.com/biz/zhong-hua-men-archway-toronto?hrid=z6XzYjdZols3-WNaFnDjdQ&utm_source=ashare&ref=yelp-android) and East Chinatown which is only a few steps away.

Let me start with my most recent visits for a broken wrist, followed by fracture clinic appts. From the first visit at Emergency to subsequent visits at the fracture clinic, this hospital has been nothing short of outstanding. The staff made me feel cared for and valued. Triage - I am pretty sure that angels work there...Reception - outstanding. Xray dept - outstanding. Fracture doctors - outstanding. Cast staff - outstanding. I want to clarify my initial comment that I was somewhat stunned because I have had enough experiences over the last few years that have been disappointing and deflating. I have felt underserved, uncared for and blown off to some degree. I get it. The medical industry has really been treated harshly over the last few years with judgements about Covid tactics and lack of staff issues. We went from banging pots with thanks to all medical staff, 'our heros', at the start of Covid, to hostility towards the medical industry. If I was in this industry, I would probably feel unappreciated, overworked, frustrated and possibly less likely to be as dedicated to a large amount of negative experiences with upset patients and 'patience'. I avoided getting my wrist seen on the long weekend because I thought I would be at the hospital for a good 10 hours or more with substandard care due to crowded emerg and indifferent staff. I brought a book and expected to make a day of it. I was out within a total of 4 hours! Victoria Day Monday! Don't tell anyone. Stunning! St. Michael's, from the get go, was out of this world. I feel like I should keep it a secret so that they don't get too many people moving to them!!! I have had the privilege of being a patient of Dr. Mahendira, for my arthritis. Her department took the time and care, from start to finish, to attend to me with my issues. Even the waiting rooms are well thought out with televisions to pass the time. Although, rheumatology and fracture clinics are two separate entities of the hospital, my experiences have been, in both areas, completely extraordinary. Bravo to this hospital. I am personally, pretty critical sometimes when it comes to how people are treated in this day and age. I have only praise for the staff at this hospital and the way it is run. Thank you, St. Michael's, for making me feel like my issues are important and that you are listening and also following up with me in a considerate, solution oriented way. St. Michael's is synonymous with excellence. Top notch.
