Please get a second opinion if you go here. Doctor says one thing, then another thing and then professes they can't even remember the first thing. Suggest one thing at one visit. Suggests something else at the next visit with no explanation or reasoning why. Can't remember who you are or what tests you've had or the test results. Seem more interested in having nurses ask you the same 'canned' questions each time you come with literally no time to speak to the actual doctor about your actual care. 99% of every visit is nurses doing the same tests and questions over and over and over. A complete waste of resources and peoples time. read more

I have read some disgruntled reviews and feel I must clear the atmosphere for future patients : Yesterday, I was at the GI unit ( 4th floor ) and referred to Dr Carole-Ann Moulton and her staff for evaluation for a suspicious image in my pancreas. In a nutshell: first floor blood work (15 minutes) as I was arriving for my appointment at the 4th floor, lab results had been already pouring in myChart. At exactly the appointment hour a very professional and nice Debbie took me for vitals. Afterwards I was taken to a private room where some time later my images where reviewed by an oncologist surgeon ( Tommy ? ) that works in tandem with Dr Moulton : sharp, nice, warm, very professional and concrete, explains situation in detail and draws outline of lesion, describes next steps vis a vis prognosis. After an acceptable waiting time Dr Moulton appears: bright eyed, wide smile and great attitude, warm and friendly. She goes over my history personal and medical. Ratifies previous assessments and orders MRI imaging for further follow up on the evolution of the lesion with the objective of reducing risk factor . The day after I get a follow up mail from Debby advising me MRI is in the process of being scheduled . This hospital and these reputed professionals are among the best and the logistics, installations and appearance of the hospital are world class. Staff - all around - are nice, helpful and competent people. From the Romanian lady that drew my blood to the door man EVERYBODY was exceptionally cooperative. I honestly feel the complaining customers are either in a bad spot personally or were having a bad day To me me, this visit made my day So, thank you ! read more

All over the place. Sometimes the care/treatment is good and others it's non existent. Doctors ignore appointments, post incorrect information on your UHN report, and make future appointments incorrectly and generally ignore patient needs. The people filling in for your Doctor are generally uninformed, give incorrect medication, that is then contradicted by others and are not really interested. Supposedly it's a teaching hospital and we the patients are the guinea pigs. read more

Family member was successfully treated here and we come here for 6 month follow ups. Courteous staff, professionals at all levels who CARE about their patients. A very intense place; but they save lives here. read more

1 star. Wish I could leave 0 stars. If you get Dr. Chen ask for someone else. He has a fixed mindset and each patient is just a number to him. He doesn't care if his patient lives or dies. In dire situations, sometimes standard treatment with virtually 0% survival rate is not the correct course of treatment. If you are down to your last dollar, do you just keep on buying the same lottery ticket hoping that you'll start winning? Even if he doesn't recommend anything else (because he doesn't want the liability and values his paycheck) he should give you an honest opinion (as a scientist) when you have questions about other treatment options vs. playing dumb. I had a CT Scan on Thursday at 5:15 pm (evening) which was my appointed time. Reception was very nice. I arrived early because I came from blood work and x-ray and arrived at 3pm, so I thought the best thing to do was check in, lady was lovely, told me to take prednisone at 3:30pm and on my sheet it says take prednisone 13 hours 50mg by mouth which I did do and is recorded by reception as such. At 3:30pm 1 took another prednisone plus benadryl as directed. I ran out of water at 4pm & went downstairs for a bottle of water and came back at 4:30pm and a gentleman said we were looking for you. When I went into CT Scan she rudely laced into me and said if you can not follow directions, I will not give you CT Scan. I was so upset and anxious I just let her say anything to me. I wanted to leave but was trembling. I also take 1/2 reactine such as stuffiness & watery eyes all year round. May 13th 2021. read more

A friend is staying at Princess Margaret so I've visited here a few times in the last month. Right in downtown Toronto, it's conveniently located by the Queen's Park Subway Station along with a number of coffee shops and restaurants. From the 15th floor, you get a great view of the downtown core; I once saw the sun set from one of the lounging rooms and it was quite beautiful. The staff here are very pleasant and helpful when lost or looking for a patient. Rooms are spacious and the hallways wide, which give in-patients a lot of opportunity to walk around and exercise. There's also a kitchen for patients and their families to use; my friend's mother tells me that the kitchen is stocked with tea and coffee. My friend tells me that the food is pretty good and that the doctors/nurses/other support staff are great ambassadors of PMH. The team are dynamic and work hard to treat the medical needs of their patients in a compassionate and effective way. The only downside (I noticed) was the television situation - in the lounging area, there are a couple of super comfortable sofas with a large screen television. The television, however, only has two channels (and one of them doesn't count): CBC (great Canadian stuff along with 'Corry Street') and the TV Guide channel. The Princess Margaret Hospital is the MD Anderson of Canada: the best in cancer care. A close friend was referred to The Princess Margaret by North York General Hospital, because preliminary results indicated some trouble. Further sophisticated testing at the Princess Margaret was able to shed more light on cancerous cells in other parts of the body as well. Having visited both North York General and Princess Margaret, the difference between the two couldn't be more stark. The doctors and staff at Princess Margaret that we dealt with had impeccable credentials,were very thorough, informative, helpful and friendly. For a place that deals with harrowing cases on a daily basis, there isn't much cynicism or heartlessness at this hospital. Just lots of passion and commitment to making the best out of an unfortunate situation. read more

There are few places i dislike visiting more than hospitals. Would not want to be a doctor or dentist, as i dislike blood. That being said, thankfully someone does it. Been coming here with my mom after her second cancer diagnosis. They initially scared the bajebers out of me, and were not all that helpful. I am not one to give up. Had to get some help from a friend who is a pharmacist who gave me some of their printouts for various new medications for her type of cancer. That got the ball rolling, and things have gone well since. She seems to be in full remission, and i hope it stays that way. Worries me to think what would have happened if i had not take independent and forceful action, and then pressed the oncologist about it. Should not have to do that, but it is what it is. This is not the case with American hospitals. That aside, have been impressed with the level of care. Could improve, be more aggressive in treatment , and provide additional information, otherwise i am satisfied. read more

it's terrifying that this is ranked the best in the city . The doctors are arrogant, late and act like they are gods gift to the earth . My mother and most of the roommates she had during her stay died so I'm not sure what they are doing . The Only good thing is the nurses . My mother was a self made upper middle class woman who was to shy to fight for her rights and we didn't know about a patient advocate before it was too late . They told us everything was fine and chemo was working and sent her to hospice a few days later . We will never forget . Please get a second opinion . read more

They need better signage. I thought I was in Mount Sinai for the first two hours! I was there helping my friend with her mom, so I didn't pay attention to where we were going, I just followed the leader! ha! For the amount of staff were encountered, most were very nice and pleasant. read more

Princess Margaret Hospital did a lot for my father when he became ill. At first, we had a doctor we weren't too happy with that didn't help my father. He was very apathetic towards us. He eventually told us to our face "I don't know what to do anymore". It made our hearts sink. He ended up leaving the hospital and we were redirected to Dr. Butler. Dr. Butler was such a kind hearted individual and showed so much respect and dedication to each patient. Just visiting him and speaking to him made my dad feel 100x better. In terms of wait time, we did wait a long time wherever we went. If our appointments were scheduled for 3:45 we wouldn't be seen until 5:45. We'd have to be there two hours earlier to get blood work done too so from 1-5:45 we'd be waiting around. They have volunteers that go around a few times daily giving out free snacks and juices for the patients and families. They are always smiling and bring with them a positive feeling throughout the hospital. There's also a Tim Hortons located on the first floor near the back exit, as well as a Druxys located beside the main exit. It was a positive that the hospital did have free wifi, and tvs in every waiting room. The nurses at the reception desk were incredibly helpful and would do there hardest to make sure you were well taken care of. One of our nurses even came over to visit my father when he was hospitalized across the street at Toronto General just to see how he was, not because of medical forms or stuff like that. It shows day in and day out how compassionate and understanding they are. The hospital works quick to setup MRIs, CT Scans, ultrasounds, blood work, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and many more appointments. Overall we were extremely satisfied with our experience here. I can definitely say this hospital prolonged my fathers life for 3 years and I'm very thankful for all they do! read more

I recently went to PMH for a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy. The nurses working at the clinic were not only kind but caring. I felt pretty faint going into the clinic and they helped me every step of the way. Using words of encouragement, they made a scary and intimidating experience much easier. I have never felt so cared for at a hospital. The women were amazing and made sure that I was taken care of the entire time I was there. I want to ensure that they get thanks for the care that they gave me. They are amazing women and deserve to be recognized as such. read more

I received wonderful treatment from every department during my breast cancer treatment. Dr T Cil & Dr M Brown were awesome and so caring throughout my treatment. We are lucky to be in Canada and serviced by such wonderful doctors and one of the top Cancers hospitals in the world! read more
