Also they didn't give her pain medications for 8 hours when she needed it. I worked here as an LPN 12 years ago. I wouldn't recommend. I was very disappointed when I worked there at their patient safety standards. And now I'm even more so. The facility looks very nice and home-y. But I remember the med carts always missing the medications some patients needed. And techs I worked with were not great at that time. Patients had a lot of neglect. They need more techs or nurses there. Too cheap to hire more? As an RN of 14 years with an advanced practice degree I am extremely extremely dissatisfied with the company's inability to prioritize patient safety.

First a big thank you to Lovelace case management for getting me in here. I am 66 AND worked in…read morehealthcare admin last position as a division CFO for a company called Continental Rehab Systems which merged with Healthsouth. I am probably one of the most sympathetic people to the difficulties of the industry. After a broken femur in my hip I was transferred from Lovelace to Advanced. First note was started by Physical Therapists. And is a beautiful facility which is saying a lot because in my last job we opened 3 new facilities in different western states. So I have seen new facilities and have also seen SNF's aka skilled nursing facilities. There is a reason Ron Bell the "attorney" always talks about them The staff is really good specially the therapists, OT's and PT's. Kind knowledgeable and they listen. The nursing staff is mostly good and especially the day nurses. As with ANY hospital the doc may have one opinion, the nurses another, the therapists another and the PA's and NP's another. This is called healthcare and it is just getting worse with all the government issues. I pray they are not too adversely affected by the inevitable government cuts. Also you HAVE to advocate for yourself and your loved ones if it is them who are here. Believe it or not docs and clinical staff are human. And unless YOU (like me) are the patient you truly have no idea what the patient is feeling and going through. I have been very verbal about my concerns and there have been issues but the staff listened. Did they always agree, no. Were we able to come to mutually acceptable conclusions, pretty much every situation. If you sit back and bitch quietly it only affects your mental health. And note I have a mother in law who does this at the facility she is at in CA. If you don't like the current healthcare situation (don't even get me started on Optum) read, talk to your NM reps, read about what is going on with the government and best go into the industry. Albuquerque is woefully understaffed. At every facility. Compared to when I was in healthcare the demands and hours are much crazier. So unless you speak up don't complain. I am still at facility and am very happy to be here. Will update post discharge.

However, I'd prefer to have small, yet intimate/personalized care than huge "Take a number" type care I previously received at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Or even at Kimbrough on FT Meade. These guys had to send me out onto the economy for some services, but when I returned today with my prescription, they did not carry it. So, CPT Lomelli in the back personally said, "We got you sir." She took my number & said we'll get it for you within a couple days & call you when it's ready. You can just tell they care! It's nice!

He took care of my original concerns, answered a bunch of questions, suggested prescription and non-prescription items to take care of my overall health, AND... GET THIS, he's also a DO, chiropractor!! I happened to mention I used to have a great chiropractor in San Jose, CA and found out he's one too! He asked, do you need an adjustment and I was like "HECK YEAH!" He took me in the other room with the appropriate table to work me on and voila!! My neck, back, spine are adjusted and it feels GREAT! WHEN DID THEY GET A DOCTOR WHO GIVES A S@&T?? Amazing, just amazing!! He's not my primary care doc but you know I will be asking for him from now on!! If they could all be like him and fix the stupid pharmacy system (been here for an hour and still waiting), I would be a totally happy camper. Wowswers!!

You see, healthcare is such a stressful area to navigate in the US, so I did all I could until I had to make a chance to my new employers healthcare. One of the things that changed was..my oh-so- lovely Blue Cross Blue Shield forced me to find a cheaper place to get my routine medical procedures done..and that was when I randomly picked Coram out of all the 4 possible choices of places I could pick from. So, honestly, I was a little anxious about the quality of the care, procedure and ease of scheduling (since we all know how bad the state of healthcare sadly is in NM). Well, turned out...I loved having Coram as my new healthcare procedure provider. They were fast, clear and super communicative with me on the processes. I was slightly worried about the delay in getting things scheduled..but Coram pulled everything through from getting all the paperwork and insurance authorization done..to actually scheduling and performing the procedure for me all within just 2 weeks timeframe! So amazing! All the staff I interacted with from my case officer to my pharmacist and a nurse..they were all so kind, friendly and wonderful. I was actually amazed this good quality of care was actually still out there available in ABQ. The place is small but very caring and has all the things one needs. My actual procedures were actually completed quicker than the usual time that it would take at a major hospital because there were less hoops to jump through...and it was pretty much a 1:1 procedures/lovely chats with such a caring nurse Deloris throughout my appointment time there! I definitely would choose to continue getting specialized procedures and care done at Coram again. P.S. they are a CVS subsidiary company, so another bonus is potentially their reach and network of care to potentially continue your care if you ever move out of state.

Most importantly, Brian and Brenda made me feel as if my care and treatment was as important to them as it is to me and my family! It is so refreshing to have healthcare staff that actually is on top of guiding me through this without me having to constantly harass them about getting stuff done. Brian even gave me his cell number and told me to text day or night if I needed help. He's probably already regretting that but we have made an efficient team! For once, I feel like I'm in good hands. And for someone who is extremely medically fragile in the middle of a pandemic, that means everything!
