Wow, I didn't even think to check Yelp before I chose this Urgent Care to go to. Lesson learned. I just Googled the PA Lynn Devlin. She was so WEIRD--see attachments. It appears that people who work at urgent care facilities hop from one place to another. Next time I have an minor urgent medical issue, I will go to Walgreens and wander the aisles asking strangers for advice. I'm sure it would be very healing. The whole time this PA was treating me, I had a gut feeling she was doing a half-job. I felt I was talking to someone who was not all there, checked-out. The nurse looked like he hated the world, too. The receptionist was sweet, though, probably because she doesn't have to mix with them too much, lol.

Not how I enjoy spending my vacation. Quick service once I was taken back to the exam room.

Friendly staff and quick service oncetaken back. Came in knowing I had a UTI and the receptionistlet me give a sample before being fully processed. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 is that no one told me it was delayed opening because of winter weather. That is a failing of corporate and their call center not knowing about the delayed opening.

    The wound and blood shed.

Basically, it's a step before going to emergency when you're not sure you need emergency, but you can't get an appointment with your primary care. They are more of a Triage than a treatment facility. When I was seen by Genevieve the provider I felt like she was irritated and annoyed having to deal with me. I told her I was there to get a referral to see a specialist because I needed an AFO ankle and foot brace. She told me that she was unaware of any orthodontics she could referr me to and asked me if I would use my phone to Google one that is like to see. I politely corrected her informing her that I needed to see an orthotist not an orthodontist. I found an orthotist at UNMH and asked them what they needed from the provider as far as the referral went. UNMH told me that they needed a prescription for an AFO and a diagnosis. I relayed this information to Genevieve and she frowned looking agitated saying " I don't even know how to write one of those". I went on to inform her that I also needed a diagnosis. She told me she had no clue how to diagnose me but she would look it up and make the referral. She came back shortly with a referral but there was no prescription and the diagnosis section of the referral was left blank. I informed the intake nurse that the information I needed was absent from the form and I reluctantly requested that she ask Genevieve to correct it. Genevieve came back to the exam room and reiterated that she did not know how to diagnose me. I told her that a diagnosis typically requires an examination (which she failed to implement). I told her that I suffered from hemiplegia causing foot drop and lack of ankle stabilization and no toe movement. She said she would be back with my referral. When she came back the referral was still lacking a prescription and the diagnosis section read 'hemiplegia, specifics unspecified' although I had specified the the specifics. I told her that I felt like the referral did not reflect what UNMH had told me they required to do my intake. Genevieve told me that what she gave me would have to work. After leaving the exam room I asked the intake nurse if she would get me the supervisor. The supervisor addressed me in the waiting room. I asked if she was Becky Gonzales because that name is the name associated with the ownership of this particular clinic. she told me no that she was the supervisor. I informed her of what I experienced with Genevieve and I told her that I was not even examed. The supervisor said in a very rude and disrespectful way, well... You... Got ... What... You... Came... Here ... For ... Didn't... You? I replied that I am not slow or hard of hearing and that she did not need to talk to me in that manner. I asked her for her name but she only replied that she was the supervisor. I asked her if I could have the name of her superior to file a complaint and she told me that she had none and told me that I needed to leave. I asked her who I file a complaint with and she told me that I needed to leave now. When I first went in I also requested a prescription. After I was kicked out I realized that I received no information about my prescription so I had to walk back in and ask the receptionist for that information which was very uncomfortable and embarrassing after being humiliated in front of a lobby full of customers. Id like to note that in no way was I ever disrespectful or rude to the staff at Rio Grande. I felt like the provider and the supervisor were extremely unqualified and unprofessional. And the politeness and kindness I received from the receptionist and the intake nurse were severely overshadowed by the lack of professionalism and negligence that I received from the Genevieve and the supervisor. If you have a chronic care situation I would not recommend that anybody risk their health in the hands of the uncaring or unqualified

She was unable to get my medical records from my prior PCP (not a problem for my new doctor). She didn't notice when GPM's selected testing service didn't run all of my tests and then sought to blame me when I pointed it out to her. She then sent me test results for another patient, which I only noticed were not mine when I saw that I (male) had apparently been tested for menopause. I wonder what steps, if any, she took to notify the correct patient of this HIPPA violation. When I sought a refill on a prescription, she demanded that I email her the prescription name, another HIPPA violation. Yet somehow she figured out what my script was when I decided not to renew with GPM, emailing me the script name, another HIPPA violation. In addition to violating HIPPA, her email style is condescending and rude. From what I could tell, Shannon's only strength was making sure my annual fee was paid. Per NM law, they have no leg to stand on if they can't provide proof they billed you in a timely manner, ultimately resulting in them eating my bill. I was not about to pay it because they couldn't be bothered to bill me timely. About 6 months ago, my husband ended up at the same urgent care even though I told him not to. Guess what? Took them SIX MONTHS to bill him. We received a bill of $10 and called prepared to pay when the guy in the line notified me we owed over $100. I said that's odd considering I have a bill here for $10 that was "sent" 4/20/26 which, again, super weird because we just received this bill in JUNE. Proof that they don't have their crap together. The customer service guy was less than helpful so I asked to speak with the "supervisor" who oddly sounded like the same guy lol only to be HUNG up on TWICE. Called back immediately and demanded to speak to him but he was suddenly out of the office literally 10 seconds later . Then the guy said they were ready to take my $10 payment and I told them to eat the bill. I would not put it past them to charge me the full amount so better safe than sorry. Also, people, medical bills can't be sent to collections by law in NM unless they are over $500. Do your research! It'll save you a lot of money when it comes to companies like this with unfair and ILLEGAL billing practices. No sweat off my back. I was ready to pay what they billed me but after the horrible way I was treated, good luck to them and hope they go out of business. Will be reporting them to the BBB also. Save yourself the hassle. BEWARE: if you get injured and while being treated receive or need a orthopedic sling or brace,…read morebest ask what exactly it will cost and from what durable medical equipment (DME) company will be billing it. Simplistic Medical LLC, a DME company that has a contract with Duke City Urgent Care LLC (DCUC) to provide orthopedic braces/slings to their patients, is engaging in price gouging. On 9/3/20 I had an accident doing chores at home and fractured my left wrist. A friend in the neighborhood took me to DCUC "University Area Location" clinic on Constitution and Carlisle. They took x-rays and splinted my wrist until I could get into NM Orthopedics after the holiday weekend. I was offered an arm sling and was told I should expect a bill for the device. Months later Simplistic Medical (no mention of them previously) subsequently sent me a bill. They'd charged $107.62 for this decent-quality-but-nothing-special arm sling, of which my ACA health insurance had already paid them the DME coverage percentage of $32.29, and Simplistic Medical was telling me to pay a balance of $75.33. I mailed them back a notice written on their bill, dated 12/29/20, that I would not be paying them anything for their highly inflated price, that the insurance company already had adequately compensated them for. I relayed to them I have a spreadsheet showing eight comparable arm slings with retail prices ranging between $6.43 to $25.99, with an average retail price of $16.42. Then I received in early May a 'final' and only such notice from Simplistic Medical dated 4/21/21 that if I don't pay their inflated balance due of $75.33 they will send it to collections. I researched these two providers, Simplistic Medical LLC and Duke City Urgent Care LLC, and tried to reach the billing specialist or a manager of that Duke City Urgent Care location, left messages, no one ever called me back. On 5/6/2021 spoke to Jeff Mills, the 'administrator' of Simplistic Medical, telling him to clear my account or I would be filing complaints on state and federal levels for their price gouging. Jeff Mills stated that Simplistic Medical has a contract with Duke City Urgent Care to supply DME to their patients. Jeff Mills stated Simplistic Medical does not set their own prices, that Medicare does [!?!]. I stated I was not on Medicare then (Sept 2020), I stated that I had an ACA plan with New Mexico Health Connections then, who had already paid them $32.29, and Medicare has nothing to do with their price gouging. I also stated I would be reporting them to Medicare for this scamming. Whether Duke City Urgent Care and Simplistic Medical are in cahoots to price gouge, and/or in conjunction with Medicare, this needs to be investigated, because Simplistic Medical is greatly inflating the cost/price of their devices, then threatening consumers who refuse to pay the balance due on DME. I have reported this DME company's scam to Medicare, speaking to consumer reps and their Fraud Hotline staff. They said that Medicare fee schedules are below local market prices, not inflated prices, and this has no bearing on my billing from Simplistic Medical LLC, because I was not covered by Medicare yet when this injury occurred. Go look on the BBB site and you will find a more horrific rip-off Simplistic Medical did to a mother whose son received a knee brace at Rush Hospital that apparently also partners with Simplistic Medical. Simplistic Medical charged them hundreds of dollars for a simple knee brace, then ending up taking what they wanted our of the woman's bank acct! Any healthcare provider or facility that does business with Simplistic Medical LLC is likely getting kick-backs on their inflated prices. Simplistic Medical LLC should not be allowed to do business in the state of NM, period.
