Listen, is it kind of ridiculous to pay $16 ($15 + tax) to let your child run around like a maniac? Kind of... unless you have no other good alternatives, in which case $16 sounds like a pretty sweet deal. We went on a cold and wet weekend morning in December, when our other options involved continuing to be trapped in my parents' lovely but not particularly kid-oriented home. My 2.25 year old LOVED it! There were tons of different spaces and things for him to explore and do -- some big motor function things (climbing, running, light game play, etc) and some small motor function things (train set, doll house, shopping cart, etc). I liked that there was a separate (but part of the main room) eating area. When we go back, I'll plan to bring some lunch in. (Ooo, or maybe get delivery!?! IS THAT GENIUS OR WHAT?!) Definitely worth the money to let our kid blow off some steam in a new, totally kid-oriented space. I've been in other indoor play spaces and this one skews slightly pricier, but also much nicer. Will definitely plan to go back next time we're in the area for an extended period of time.

This "park" is comprised of 22 acres of land that the township bought from the owners of Kuser…read moremansion. The mansion was built in 1882 and is architecturally interesting, as are a few of the buildings. There is a tennis house that I would love to call my own( I have a thing for tiny houses) But as a township taxpayer I can't help feeling that this property is underutilized. There is a tiny playground that seems to be forgotten. An antique tennis court that appears not to have been played on for decades. A lawn bowling court that is meticulously groomed, but does anyone even know what lawn bowling is? And grape vines that are reverting back to their wild form. A few times a year there are tours of the mansion, and in the summer months there are some concerts near the very large gazebo. But this is not a park with much recreation going on. Not really advisable for walking or jogging unless you are within walking distance. Maybe a picnic spot if you live or work nearby. With all this land it would be nice to see some biking or walking trails, or an upgraded playground at least. Still, in a township where open spaces are evaporating, I guess it is good that this land was not sold to a developer. But for the amount of taxes that residents pay, it would be better to see this park become more utilitarian. It just squeaked in at 3 Yelps.

Joan was a first class tour guide - as was Stephanie who gave the upstairs tour. It's a beautiful house, built in the late 1800s, with many fascinating artifacts and pieces of furniture and the history of the house and the Kuser family are very well presented. I highly recommend a visit - not only to the house but also to the park which has a wndmill, fountain, clay tennis court built in 1912, caretakers home, carriage house, gazebo, laundry house and gardens. The routes get changed every semester or so for both bouldering and top rope climbing, and there are two auto-belays if you go there and don't have anyone to help belay you. (The people who go are also super nice--I've had people offer to belay me whenever I go alone!) They offer belay classes here as well--I think it's around $30, and once you're certified (they test you 3 times before letting you do your thing), you can come whenever you want! If you don't plan on getting belay-certified, you can still boulder whenever you want! :] For guests, it's just $5 for admission, which is about 1/4 the price of any day admission to the nearby climbing gyms. Harness rental is always free and shoe rental is $1 each time (free for your first time there though!)

Mercer County Park is a complete park that offers something for just about everyone's needs…read more Whether you're looking to take the kids to the lake for a swim, go kayaking, let the dogs off leash in the fenced in dog park, ride your bike along paths both paved and natural, or just go walkabout to enjoy the largest park in the county. There are even a small number of campsites that can be reserved during certain times of the year. There are also large playing fields that host tournaments throughout the year for baseball, soccer, lacrosse, etc., and rowing regattas are hosted on the lake. At 3.9 square miles, Mercer County Park is a whopping 1.7% of the total acreage in all of Mercer County. The NE portion of the park is part that I like best, as it's also the part that gets the least amount of traffic, with the only folks you see being people walking the trails, birdwatchers and BMX bike riders. I wouldn't advise taking a gravel bike on the paths in this part of the park. I used to come here often with my bike, but now I'm also enjoying the trails on foot. If you're a road bike owner who's just looking for a short ride, the paved paths that run the length of the park, and the broad shoulder of the main road offer a good conditions for a road bike, but you'll need to look elsewhere for a longer, challenging ride. Also, I've yet to encounter the entitled dog owners who think that the leash regulations don't apply to them. I'm sure that they're out there, but perhaps they're not as common as they are at places like Mercer Meadows or Mountain Lakes--fingers crossed.

There were only 5 of us, so plenty of time to climb. Our Guide, Bob, was so patient, engaged and informative. I learned a lot of great things that I had not known before about clothing, ropes and technique. Bob was so patient with me and was there with his " green pointer" to help me over the tough spots. You should know that I am 74 years old and tho I have climbed indoors for a few years, my stamina was not that of the youngsters who were there! Nonetheless, it was a great time! I highly recommend Valley to Summit, this being my 3 rd trip with them. They Rock!

Absolutely amazing professional guides!!…read more I hired this company to guide me through the winters treacherous water fall trails of Ricketts Glen that is normally closed off for hikers that don't have the explicitly specific required safety gear for winter hikes which this company provides. The guides were patient and helpful with the small group in getting gear on and going over all the safety equipment. They were never impatient with anyone and insanely kind. You could tell the guides truly enjoyed bringing everyone out to this amazing trail at Ricketts Glen State Park. I wasn't sure what to expect but OMG it was worth the money spent to have these guys/gals guide me through the trails. I took tons of pictures and was never rushed at all while taking in the views and photos. This company comes highly recommended amongst the hiking community even out of state.
