Jim was the best. But now horrible service. Lets see I took it in for an inspection and a check engine light on, and I left with what I thought might be good service repair....nope! I was charged for a battery I didn't ask for ( $300), and they weren't even respectful enough to put the terminal cover back on it the shroud that covers my motor was just thrown in the back of my vehicle along with the skid cover that goes on the under carriage. then I looked under the hood and also noticed my nice air filter cover was nowhere to be found. And the check engine light was never even fixed, so now I have to pay someone else to fix that. And last of the bigger idiotic crap was they took a half a full tank of gas. So all of this BS cost me 2000 dollars to boot. I would NOT recommend this place to a room full of criminals!! They suck. Worst service ever in my entire life. They should be ashamed of themselves. They tend to be super busy and getting an appointment can be a wait, and their waiting room tends to be full. But they're very personable and you get the sense that they really care for their customers. If I was still in Ithaca, I'd still be going here.

My grad school kid has used Hunt's twice now. They did great on the car inspection (NY bans dark window tinting unless it came factory installed). Commented on how the vehicle had no rust (Ithaca ices their roads) and suggested we get undercoating done (Daggett's Garage in Dresden was the closest place that will undercoat your car with FluidFilm each October). We did the oil change and minor service. A few months later the transmission gave out (we knew it would happen sooner or later). AAA towed the car to the garage. Hunt's ordered a rebuilt transmission with a 3 year warranty. It was close to $7k but they did a great job. They did the major service and let us know the timing belt was starting to rattle and should be the next major repair and to do it before it breaks. Cars aren't cheap, but I'm grateful Hunts Auto is there to keep the car in good shape. Everyone needs a good mechanic (also Wilcox Tire is a couple buildings down and is the place to go for snow tires).

I brought my vehicle (Mazda CX-5) to Varna Auto because the brake warning light was on and I was…read moreunable to disengage the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). After diagnosing the car, they told me both rear EPB actuators and calipers needed to be replaced. I approved the repair and paid $1,124. They later called and said the car was fully fixed and ready for pickup. However, when I arrived, the brake warning light was still on and the EPB was still not functioning properly. I immediately informed them. The next day, they re-examined the vehicle and told me the parking brake control module had lost communication and that they could not fix the issue. They referred me to a Mazda dealership for further repairs. In other words, after charging me over $1,100, the original problem remained unresolved. When the vehicle was returned to me, the brake fluid reservoir cap was missing. The reservoir had been temporarily covered with plastic, and I had to return the following day to obtain a replacement cap. This raised serious concerns about the level of care taken during the repair. I spoke directly with the owner, William Chen, who has been very unprofessional and dishonest throughout the process, about my concerns. During our phone conversation, I explained that I was disappointed and did not want to keep parts that did not resolve the issue. He initially stated that he could return the aftermarket parts (though not the OEM actuators). However, after speaking with someone else at the shop, he changed his position and said he would not return the parts or issue a refund. Overall, I paid for a repair that did not fix the problem and was then told to take the car elsewhere. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop.

I've only used their auto repair services before, so my review only reflects upon that. Cost: Very very fair. I never ever feel like I'm being charged extra for either parts or labor. I don't know what kind of parts are used to repair cars here, but I don't ever feel like I'm getting shoddy quality parts either. In fact, and I'm not saying they do this all the time, I've went to get my fluids checked before and they've done it for free AND topped off a couple of them free of charge. How many places do that? Experience: I have nothing negative to say about Dave's. Dave and his son (and the other employee's I've encountered) are absolutely fantastic. They've been really friendly and informative the entire time to by myself and my fiancee. I've learned quite a bit about my car and as mentioned above, never feel like I've gotten ripped off. I do all my oil changes here and repairs (I've had a couple exhaust repairs and a couple wheel repairs) and am always quoted with costs consistent with low prices on car forums online. Overall: If you're in Geneva, NY and need auto repair done, go to Dave's. Don't mess around with Monroe or other chains that always find more things they want you to pay to repair. Dave's will let you know how your car looks and tell you what they think about your car and if anything does look on the verge of failing they'll let you decide if you want to do it now, down the road, somewhere else, or at not all. Completely pressure-free and a great experience all around. Going to miss it when we move out of state.

I don't feel overcharged which is one issue with many garages. They get the work done in a reasonable amount of time. The only issue I've had is there are no appointments, so you just drop your car off the night before or in the morning and they call you when it is done. This could be inconvenient if you work outside of the area. Dave, the owner is a nice guy and seems to remember you after a few visits and remembers your car. The garage also does used car sales, and rents U-Hauls. I would definitely recommend this garage to anyone in the area that needs work done on their vehicle.
