I was towed from a "Business Patrons, 1 hour" section on a Saturday night. Businesses were closed (except for the pizza spot), very few cars in the lot. I went back out after 1.5 hours to get a bag and check on my car, it was gone. I told the dispatcher I had a sound check for a show, the parking garage nearby is closed, businesses were mostly closed and no one was in the lot, and had returned to check on it it -- he initially felt bad but then became rude, stating it was $425 and wouldn't budge on price. Keep in mind, city tows are $275. I got there after my show at 12:30am -- just a truck sitting at the gate, no light, no office. The kid there said he was just about to leave. I asked for a receipt by text and never received a response. I also asked for the contract between the property management co and Kosiken's, no response. They could have written a ticket or put a boot on. This is legal theft & coercion. read more

Do NOT deal with this company. Unfortunately, I was paired with this company through AAA. The driver was extremely rude and refused to tow my car, after I waited 2 hours for him to arrive. Come to find out, this company gets paid for the call even if they do not tow your car. The driver left me stranded in the city, at night. I was forced to call a private tow company, costing over $200, rather than using the AAA I pay for. Beware this company's predatory business practices. We got our car towed though we had our pass. When we mentioned this to them, a man on the phone told us that, "we got what we deserved" and that they "finally caught us". I feel this is already a situation that promotes terrible feelings and the man on the phone didn't need to go ahead and make it worse. Just awful awful awful all around. Those my car within 20 minutes of parking on good friday. Did not provide a number to call I had to go to stores around to find out. Hotel manager refused assistance with transport and I have my baby in my arms because of the wind company stole my car seat from the car. I called them maybe 10 times to explain the situation and they refused to help. When the car attendant finally opened the car lot for me and the man that cash and I went to get it from the ATM he decided to call the police because I had left the baby in the car while I asked him to wait for me to get his money. Predatory towers, they sit in the parking lots of businesses and tow cars within minutes, before even getting authorization from the business. While technically legal, this is a scummy practice, especially in the downtown of a college town. Forcing 300 dollar tickets for parking in an empty parking lot when the owner doesn't even care is just horrid business practice. read more

HORRIBLE service from Koskinen's - they LOST MY CAR. I never contacted them directly, they were assigned via AAA to tow my vehicle after it had broken down. I was not on-site during the tow, I had been picked up. The driver was supposed to deliver my vehicle to Maguire Ford - it never made it there. I called Koskinen's and asked where my vehicle was. The man who answered was incredibly rude but told me it had been left at the Audi dealership on Elmira Rd. Why would you leave a Ford at an Audi dealership?? I called the dealership - they didn't have my car either. So I called back Koskinen's and asked them so patiently to please get in contact with the tow driver (whose name I had) to ask him where he had left my car. The same man refused, cussed me out, and hung up in my face. I called back again to tell them that if they did not locate my car I would have to get the police involved. They told me to go ahead. Finally I was able to locate my car without any help from Koskinen's - it had been abandoned in a lot behind the Toyota Dealership. No explanation. Both Maguire Ford and AAA had excellent service and both of them helped me get my car back to where it should be. The service I received was beyond horrible, it's genuinely mind-blowing to conceive that I was cussed out and hung up on for kindly requesting that they FIND MY CAR THEY LOST. read more

I would give 0/5 if I could... I am compelled to warn people about my poor experience with Koskinen's to help others avoid similar issues. When I went to retrieve my vehicle, I was met with a series of unacceptable problems. First, one of their employees arrived an hour after the scheduled pick up time and refused to allow me to inspect my vehicle before payment. I called Jamie (the owner of the company) who then proceeded to harass me over the phone and withheld my vehicle. This was enough of a scare to cause me to return with a police escort the next day. When I finally got my vehicle back, I discovered that it was inoperable due to severe damage to the wheel alignment and tie rods. Despite my attempts to resolve the issue directly with Koskinen's, they ignored my communications. Jamie then told me to "sue him if I had a problem" so I took legal action. Thankfully, the court ruled in my favor and ordered them to cover repair costs. Their complete disregard for proper procedures and customer service was unprofessional and damaging, both to my vehicle and to the overall customer experience. When I called AAA for a dead car battery, they sent out Koskinen's. The guy who came to service the car at the time was great, but that was the end of anything great. He sold me a new battery, said I'd get an email receipt, I never did. Endless calls to AAA, Koskinen's, no receipt - just a runaround and a very nasty guy at the Ithaca office who, rather than help me, hung up on me. They kept giving me different people, numbers, times to call, but none worked - not even when I left a message. No call backs, no apologies, nothing useful. So I've paid for a battery for which they will not give me a receipt. (Many days have gone by.) They are incredibly unprofessional and (except for the guy who came out with the truck) extremely unpleasant to deal with. (I would give them just one star except for him - the people in the office are definitely one-star folks.) read more

This tow company found us in a dark and nearly deserted Park. They loaded up my car, took me and my daughter, and drove us 60+ miles to a tire store in another city. Not only did you break the law by not trying to notify us before towing or leaving a communication to let us know the car was towed, you were aggressive and called a posse of your friends to try to scare us. Thankfully you also called the police because we were worried about safety. Then you insisted that the bill be paid in cash AND you added a fee because you didn't like the way you were spoken to while you were aggressively being threatening. Second time going in for the NYS car inspection. I have also used them for a tow. At all times they are pleasant and professional. I had a car towed to this shop through AAA. It needed brake repair. It was delivered to them with a flawless front bumper. When it was returned it had severe damage to the front bumper where something clearly hit it - gouging the paint, the bumper cover and cracking the bumper cover above and below the fog light - requiring the bumper cover to be replaced and painted. This was NOT a simple tap. Absolutely not worth bringing any vehicle here for repairs since they do not care for them while in their possession and you are likely to have body damage. If you do bring your car here despite these warnings, Inspect your car when you drop it off, take pictures that include all views of the vehicle-WITH a representative from Koskinens in the photos - then inspect the vehicle again when you return to pick it up. Alternatively, bring your car to a repair shop that will treat it carefully while it is in their possession. read more

HORRIBLE! I took my car to the lansing repair shop to get it looked at for a "service transmission" light, I told them I would be going to through my extended warranty company right off the bat. They assured me would call the extended warranty company just to make sure they will deal with them. They ended up never calling them and diagnosing my car anyway. They said I needed a whole new transmission. That they were quoting a dealership for the price and ordering one. Two weeks and about 4 phone calls later of hearing that they told me that they "put fluids in it themselves" well come to find out they had to take it to a specialist in cortland to put fluids in it. I called a couple more times because I wasn't hearing anything and the last phone call I call I put in they told me "we put a new transmission in it and now we're just running tests to make sure everything is running properly" so I asked how long it would be until I had my car back and the guy asked to call me back so he could talk to his mechanic. He called back and said that "so I guess we didn't put a transmission it in but we took it to a specialist who ran the same code as us and so they put fluids in it and the codes were gone but then we let it sit for a while and we started it and the same code came back up so we don't know what's wrong with it. I was baffled at the fact they had the nerve to even say they put a NEW transmission in my vehicle considering every time I called koskinens I also called my extended warranty company to see if they had even started the claim on their end, they had not! koskinens assured me multiple times that they had called in to my warranty company and they were waiting on a call back from them. after that last call I was fed up with getting a run around and my father and I (only a 22 year old girl) went down there and The my dad asked "so what's up with the vehicle?" And the guy goes "we put a transmission in it" my dad asked "a new transmission or a rebuilt transmission?" the guy responded with "rebuilt" but here I was told earlier that day it was a "NEW transmission" but then was also told on the second call that morning they didn't put any transm in my vehicle they only put fluids in it. My dad asked if they called my warranty company and the guy said "yes last week and prior to that, we're waiting on a callback from them" so my dad asked if it would be okay to call my warranty company and figure everything out since I was already three weeks without a proper diagnosis and vehicle. When we called my warranty company told us all they have not received any phone calls from the shop. On the phone we heard the koskinens worker say to the claim guy "no we haven't put any transmission in the car". Please tell me why I've heard it got a "new transmission", a "rebuilt transmission" and now we are hearing the worker tell my warranty company that they never put any transmission in my vehicle. Fast forward to telling koskinens I'm taking my car elsewhere. I just got the diagnosis back and the new shop I took it to said it has nothing to do with the transmission. So I could've probably already had my car back for at least a week if I didn't take it to koskinens. Long story short Don't go here. You get the run around, lied to and frankly treated very wrong. I went to koskinens only because last year I had work done on my front end at the Trumansburg location with Roger and I didn't know that he had sold the company. Roger is wonderful to work with in tburg but don't waste your time, money or energy up in lansing. They are more worried about giving you a big bag of chips with Netflix on the tv.
