The part was covered under manufacturers warrantee. Simple job. No estimate provided by tech or owner. Was hit with a $1000 invoice with no prior authorization from me. Invoice was not itemized. Just a number, apparently pulled out of thin air. When questioned they knocked off a $99 service fee they fully intended on charging on top of service fee related to replacing a bad coil. I own 5 homes locally, so the search for a high-integrity tech continues.

Of the 5 prior contractors we received estimates from, Jeremy was by far the most thorough, knowledgeable and did not offer us a car salesman approach. We had a approx 30 year old system set at the front of our home with a long run of duct which made for cold/hot air coming out for the first few minute's depending on the season. Jeremy eliminated this issue by moving the new unit the a new location cutting out a large portion of this duct making the new system move air more efficiently for our home.This move required electrical to be moved as well from the from of house to the back. Everything was taken care of without a blink or disruption. On Friday, 05-10-24, I knew finding someone would be difficult and likely impossible. I received "first available service dates" from next Tuesday to the 20th! What a huge blessing to have found DEPENDABLE PLUMBING/HEATING AND AIR SERVICES, LLC! From the initial call with Mrs. Shawna, who was so sweet and understanding, I knew our prayers had been answered! She told me that Mr. Michael would return my call and within 30 minutes he did! They're both animal lovers and knowing that our sweet Tucker was suffering along with us touched their hearts and Mr. Michael was at our home within 45 minutes! He quickly detected a leak and absolutely no Freon, within a short period, we could feel the humidity and heat starting to subside, Heavenly relief! The total charge was very reasonable as they absolutely saved us from having to find a hotel room for the weekend at the very least. They could have easily charged us an exorbitant "emergency call" fee, they didn't. They're a local business (actually two businesses, the plumbing operation is their son-in-law's). I have mixed feelings about this company. They were selected by my builder, so I did not choose…read morethem. They installed wrong pieces of equipment initially, to the point that my AC ran all the time all day and could not maintain the 74F setting of the thermostat. So just a few months after moving into my new house I had to call them for service. The woman who answers their phone was very defensive when I called and said the system could not holding the set temperature. I mean she was down right rude and argued with me! She was trying to set me straight on how AC was "here in Wilmington". I've lived in NC for over 40 years. I know how AC is supposed to be in the southern heat. They sent a tech out who was really great. He was polite. He listened (without arguing) and explained everything he found and did. He found they had installed the wrong damper control board and a couple of other items I don't remember. He said the dampers were not being signaled correctly to open and let the cold air through to the main part of the house. It was funneling most of it to our bonus room. That problem was taken care of. So for my experience with him I would give 5 stars. The woman who answers their phone gets 1 star, because she answered the phone. One year later guess what? The AC is not able to maintain the temperature set at the thermostat. By 4PM the thermostat is reading 78F, and the temperature inside won't return to 74F until about 11PM. This is every day. The AC runs continuously from early morning until late at night. I am sure this system is going to be worn out in a very short time. So I called again and got the same woman with the same attitude. She argued with me a little bit but the. promised to put my name on the service call list and that I would be called when "scheduling" identified a day they could come out. I called on Monday. By Friday I still have not heard from them and have no idea when they will come out. I also will have to pay a $95 diagnostic fee when they do arrive. Update: it turns out they did try to call me that week but had recorded my phone number incorrectly. My phone call to them corrected that and we arranged a time for the service call. The tech was knowledgeable and polite. He found the Freon level in the system was low but could find no leaks. The conclusion was an insufficient Freon load was done on installation. The system is 15 months old. The service call and Freon charge were considered warranty by the company with no charge to me. The AC has worked great since.

As someone who has worked in the construction industry in Wilmington for nearly 20 years, I would recommend you use a different HVAC contractor for install and service / maintenance.
