My 3 kids were "terminated from services" due to doctors ego incompetencies and retailiation. In early November my 5 year old daughter I had a sore throat and a terrible cough we came into priority care pediatrics Northland and I saw Dr. Bryan Wolhwend. He did a physical examination and said that he believes that she had RSV. As I mentioned before, she was complaining about a sore throat and a terrible congested cough. I asked him to do some test for a strep or test to confirm RSV he said that those tests will take a while to come back...Leading towards not wanting to do them and that his diagnosis was correct and he didn't seem like he didn't want me to second-guess it. My daughter was miserable and I knew that it didn't seem right as a mother. Iam also a registered nurse. In the past If she had a fever from infection then has led to repeated seizures. At this time I wanted want an accurate diagnosis based on testing not just a physical assessment so that she could get started on antibiotics-if needed. I asked him to do some test but he said it was RSV stands for respirtory syncytial virus...a common respirtory virus most kids had at that time. ( for those who don't know virus cannot be treated by antibiotics) I told him I wanted testing done to confirm and rule out illnesses. and that we are already here ...I did not want to come back if the diagnosis was wrong and and which at that point we were just going off of his physical assessments no testing. If she was to get worse over the weekend.... I will not be the one taking her back it would be her dad. At that point he said that he will not be threatened. I said I wasn't threatening him, I said it was just what was going to happen. At that point the conversation escalated but no cursing or threat occurred ... as my daughter was right there in the room. Although I might appear as a small weak Asian female but Iam not what appear . At that point I was placed in a situation where I needed witnesses. The door was closed and I walked out and yelled that I needed help from this "doctor" He leaves office and says "she just wants antibiotics" and tells the manager to escort us out. Refusing to further treat or reevaluate. She walked us out as if we did something wrong and and my daughter was still miserable suffering and my time wasted. We went to Childerns Mercy urgent care and they did a throat swab and confirmed that she had strep throat and an ear infection and gave us antibiotics. My daughters dad followed up with the administrator named Tessia at Priority care pediatrics on north oak. I took the phone from him and told her what happened In that room with DR Wolhwend, his misdiagnosis in which they received from Childrens Mercy. And made it be known that I told her that I felt sorry for all the kids that see him and all the parents that don't know any better. She apologize the time of conversation....later to find out that my three kids were terminated from services. Healthcare industry is a multi billion dollar industry and if you think that doctors truly care about you and above that administrators are just care about keeping their doctors happy and continuously making money it's not necessarily about caring about sick kids or people in general. Or even thier morality. It's about the bottom line first and foremost. Dr Bryan Wolhwend has an ego so large to cover up the fact that he is harmfully incompetent. When I told him I was a registered nurse and told him what's up ...you should've seen his ego shrank and began to physically squirm. It was honestly satisfying. That I can use my knowledge and inner strength to advocate for my daughter. And to see him SQUIRM. My 3 kids being "terminated from services " from Priority care pediatrics is a blessing. I did not want to post this....as this is my first post on Yelp. But I believe that mothers and fathers of sick children should BE AWARE of places and doctors like this. it's sickening. read more

My experience echos many of the others across numerous review platforms. Doctors are very kind and considerate. I do disagree with their newly adapted stance on vaccines especially the highly controversial HPV vaccine. Administration side is a complete nightmare. Billing has been a disaster since day 1. I've had issues a few times when I've paid in the office and get additional bills for duplicate payments. Good luck trying to speak to anyone on the phone or get timely return calls. I've brought my son to this office since he was a newborn and he's 5 now. They've had substantial growth and potentially lost sight of the overall customer experience. Loved the doctors but unfortunately will not return and would not recommend. read more

I made an appointment two weeks ago (at the Parkville location) because my daughter came home sick from daycare, I let the appointment receptionist know what was going on during that first phone call. This morning I show up for my 9:30am appointment around 9:20 am and I called in to let the office know I had arrived as per their request. The tone of the receptionist was that of someone that is annoyed, our call dropped and she called back and apologized, and then she asked to call me back again because she has to check with the provider to get the okay to see a sick child. Another 10 minutes go by when a different person calls me to tell me that they don't see sick patients at that office. So I sat in my car with my sick crying daughter for over 30 minutes while the office personnel could get their act together. Then I am told that no one can see my daughter for another week. My point... the Parkville office has a terrible front office and they don't see sick children it is a well office as I was told. read more

The irritations of my prior review remain, especially the call in phone tree. I remain here because of the excellent care and attention, particularly Dr. Buzz. The opening of their new office in Liberty is wonderfully convenient, and uncrowded. The ability to call at 8:15 in the morning and request an appointment that day is beyond valuable. read more

We are Dr Avery as our primary, but have seen other providers when she is not available. They all have had a great bedside manner and were great with my girls. We have not had a bad experience getting an appointment. Yes, sometimes you have to wait on hold- but they are a busy pediatricians office, so that is expected. read more

The doctors always have a great bed side manner here. However, their phone system and appointment lines are terrible. I've used this clinic twice this year and every time I've called I've been on hold at least for 10 minutes or longer. Also, to get to a live person you have to hit at least 4 buttons. My daughter was seen for a simple eye infection today which requires drops to treat. It has taken them 5 hours to try and get a message to the doctor to change the Rx to something less expensive. Two persistent phone calls later and 25 minutes on hold they've moved the message to "urgent". Thanks. I get they're busy, I'm busy, we're all busy! But because of our crappy health care system I just paid $80 out of my own pocket to get a script for eye meds...you'd think they could make it a "priority" to fit their title to make sure my little one is treated as quickly as possible. I work in the animal health corridor and I know how long it takes to get a script called in- especially a non-controlled substance. Needless to say, we are finding a new office and I'll be giving my hard earned cash to an office that really does make my daughter a "priority". Life is too short to be worried if my kid will get her meds at 5pm on a Friday night!!!! ***update- the pediatrician called me today (on a Sunday) to check in and apologize about the medication mix up. They get 3 stars because they have amazing doctors. But I can't help but leave it at 3 stars due to the staff not being on equal par with the docs about all this. Also, the eye drops weren't called in on Friday at all- I had to call back Saturday morning and ask for a manager for my call to get handled. read more

Love the doctors but the office staff, appointment line is terrible. I tried to set up an appointment recently and was hung up on twice and a third time had to leave a message. I have been with this office since it's beginning but as they grow their services seem to get worse. Maybe staying smaller would be better for customers. read more

I take my kids here. Love the doctors and nursing staff. The receptionist can be a pill, but I'm not paying her for her medical advice. Overall the staff is professional, and gives a vibe off that they care. The place is very kid friendly and clean too. If you need a pediatrician for your kids this is a good stop. They have a large enough staff, that you will be able to find a fav. In the event that you can't get in to see the doc you want, the doctors are competent and caring enough to fill the bill. read more

This office is terrible! The Drs I do not mind they have all been helpful. But trying to get your child in for a sick appointment is absolutely ridiculous!! Every time I have called my son is never able to get in. I was also told after a ER visit two days prior we called back to take him in to see his dr and I was told he couldn't because it was considered a follow up so in other words they turned away my sick child who's 6mo old! I do HIGHLY recommend children's mercy clinic on Broadway orange clinic they've been great. And easy to get appointments. read more

I give them one star because the doctors are actually pretty decent. However, everything else about this office is horrendous. You can only make same day appointments if your child is I'll, no making one a day in advance to try and accommodate your schedule. There is always a huge wait to even try to make an appointment. They have no toys in the waiting room and we just waited half an hour for our 9:30am appt. How are they running that far behind already? Too bad there is a shortage of pediatricians in the Northland. zero stars. do not take your child here, they gave my child the wrong vaccination! they will also attempt to pressure you into getting your child the flu shot even if you wish for your child to not have it. my child was due for dtap and they gave her a flu shot against my authorization. read more

All the doctors are amazing here and so nice. Forgot formula today and in the midst of my daughters crying doctor Grimes comes back in with a whole can. The nurses are amazing too. Highly recommend this practice. read more

Dr. Grimes has taken care of both my kids since birth and he is amazing. But for now he's now the only reason I'm staying with this office. For months and months any time I call I am on hold for a minimum of 15 minutes and don't always get through to a person even after that! I can't afford to waste so much time calling to make appointments or (hopefully) ask a nurse a question. If you look at their Facebook page you'll see other similar complaints. read more

We love Dr Grimes, but the office has gotten to big in the last 2 years. To see Dr Grimes without 4 other Drs in between its now waiting time of 6 weeks. I have had many dealings with nurses over the phone, several making me feel horrible about the care of my son. I wont even start on the Lactation Department. I quit breastfeeding after a month cause my son was going to be referred to a Occupational Therapist due to not latching on correctly. He's totally fine now and no issues. I went in tonight for the walk in hours and was turned away because they only had 1 dr at that point and thus limiting the amount of patients they could see. I tried to see if i could see a nurse and was denied that as well. Ive had enough, now looking for a new Pediatrician for my son. read more

We switched our two children to another office after using PCPEDs for almost three years. If you have a sick child, they are usually out of appts by 8:45 and their phone system leaves a lot to be desired. They also refuse to prescribe PPIs for reflux. Their "lactation consultant" encouraged my wife not to breastfeed because it's too much work. A different doctor every time, charges extra for "convenient weekend appointments" (without telling me), charge for simple questionnaires.....the list goes on and on. We really like a few of the physicians, but you usually don't have much choice who you see. Also, billing is way behind and I received a final notice before collections without receiving any previous bills. read more
