Here are the lowlights of my experience with Matt: --Communication was a nightmare. He responded to me while he was doing the job (a plus!) but he was more interested in complimenting his own work, man-splaining, and cracking corny jokes than he was in listening my concerns. Whenever there was a problem, he blamed someone else. ---Cost was very high. This is my fault , as I should have gotten more estimates. --The work was below average. For example, Matt installed a bifold door. He asked if I wanted it painted and when I asked if it would need to be painted, he said it was up to me. I opted to leave it unpainted but had no idea that Matt would leave pencil marks and scuffs all over it. By that time, I was so tired of interacting with him that I decided to paint it myself. Less than three months later, the door came off the track and the pin that holds it in place will not go back in. I've been trying to get him to come back to fix the door (as per his warranty) for two weeks. Ha! Who am I kidding? I could go on but you get the drift. Working with Denny, Dennis and their work crews was an absolute pleasure. We unfortunately had to stay in our home the entire process, yet the guys were as considerate to our situation as much as was possible. What was most impressive was this company's ability to keep to a schedule, keep their promises and work professionally. You get what you pay for! I had several quotes for less money than Shells Only. They wouldn't return a call, didn't know how to work with the Permits, and generally were unorganized. From the very start, Dennis daughter (forgot her name) work so nicely with my wife picking out hardware for the bathroom, colors and etc. Afterall, if the Mrs. isn't happy ultimately, I won't be happy! The details matter. Shells only paid attention to the details that I requested of them and added some smart recommendations. Even more important to me was finishing the project. My worry was payments were mostly in start of job, will they disappear in the end? Answer, no they finished this job as agreed on time!!! I was lucky to get Denny who as i was told doesn't forman much anymore as he is too valuable to the sales process. So, I got lucky there! Brian came and did all the pre-work for measurements and ordering and was very flexible with installation timeline, as we were scheduling install before our move into the home. Brian had great communication in the lead up to the install, including ensuring delivery & acclimation of flooring materials. His team showed up right on time, communicated exactly what they were going to do and completed the job quickly & efficiently. It took nearly 3 full days to complete the job, but all the while they showed me progress, explained how to care for the floor, and even came back a few weeks later to add additional trim for the stairway leading up, to match the newly installed trim.
