Excellent place, really helpful to getting motivated to get healthy and in better shape. My ONLY wish is that it was affordable to more people than those JUST in a very high income bracket. The program has so much to offer to so many especially the foods and more and while the facility here in Doral, Florida is beautiful, the really NEED to expand and add other locations. I really enjoyed my time here. The was staff was beyond professional, the accommodations were wonderful, the program itself excellent. Every day starts, if you choose, with a sunrise stretch. Healthy meals and snacks all day. Dinner is a night out, every night, with menus and superb service. Exercise classes with modern equipment, monitored medically at all times when needed. EVERY staff member was courteous, professional and happy. Only issue is you may come across the occasional career high school mean girl who is a paid customer just like you. If you recognize that, steer clear and focus on why you are there, and not trashing anyone around you. read more

I always love going back to pritikin. From eating extremely healthy to working out, after three days you feel 1000% better. There is proof in the program every week when they do bloodwork and you can see the vast improvements and know it's really working. Pritikin is a place to go if you're willing to take health serious and make a change. I go back yearly after I fall off the wagon and I'm glad for my yearly trip back. The staff is wonderful and they really care for you and want you to succeed. I recommend doing two weeks for your first trip there to go to all the lectures, and really get into a great routine!! read more

They send you a price in writing and then do not honor it. They say they will accommodate food allergens, then do not properly train the staff, resulting in multiple illnesses and reactions. They say if you stay 2+ weeks you get covid tested - they do not do this. They have photos showing they have outdoor pool classes - they do not. They advertised a free sleep study for 2+ weeks then argued with me that they don't (but ultimately honored it) The marketing department is not on top of their website AT ALL and the reservation agents do not know how to quote properly. It is hard to trust this resort and what you read on their website. The most egregious part is the negligence regarding handling of food allergens - I let them know well in advance of arrival and was served ALL THREE of my allergens - gluten, sesame and soy. No compensation offered for my troubles, and I did not enjoy the experience I paid for and was promised. I was violently ill after ingesting gluten, had skin breakouts, developed a rash after ingesting soy, and would have had near life-threatening consequences had I ingested the sesame seeds (I saw them before that happened) Upper management - president & vice president level - do not respond appropriately to and ignore very important issues like allergens being served at this "five star" facility. I have photos, I have witnesses. The place is beautiful, but if you have any special dietary needs, you will not enjoy it like you are meant to unless they change their ways. I am awaiting word about what compensation I will be provided. read more

The Pritikin Center is the place to go if you really want to get healthy with the assistance of a highly trained and professional staff. The food is fresh and very well prepared and is truly served with love by the warm and caring cafeteria crew. The dress is casual workout and the guests friendly and relaxed. Second trip to Pritikin. The first was great, but the quality has gone down tremendously. Received no service or even response from "program advisor". Did not get things I was entitled to, no explanation. No one to complain to. Detailed feedback in the departure form and complaints to front desk went unanswered. The whole trip was unsuccessful because of their total lack of customer service. Would not go back again and would no longer recommend to friends. Very disappointed! I do not take this lightly and didn't post right away, but no one reached out to me for a 3 weeks since I left to discuss my concerns. read more

I stayed here for 3 weeks and found the place to be OK. Not really worth my trip across the country for the experience. The decorations are very nice, made me feel special. But I wasn't here to be wined and dined, I came to get a work out with weights and learn about better eating habits. Loving Mexican food, I was a little taken back because they told me that everything I was eating was bad. No tacos unless it had turkey meat, spinach, no cheese and don't fry the organic taco shells. No tomato sauce unless it was organic with no salt. I always thought olive and coconut oil was good for you. They say its actually bad for you..huh? I got massages but they were lousy, my kid would have done better. The masseuse didn't seem to know anything about massage techniques. I kind of felt like I was in a cheap massage parlor and was expecting to be asked if I was willing to pay for a "happy ending". The massage just being a front....right. Lack of communication. I don't know if they were just being polite and respecting my time and space, but there is a real lack of communication. You really have to ask the staff when and where anything is going on. Lots of activities are canceled without notice until you arrive. They really need to communicate with their guests a lot better. The price is great, all in all, I would return but not take the place too seriously. Id just return to hang out and use the services if they paid for my flight. read more

My mom came here for a month, and really enjoyed it. Had some minor issues with staff member being rude and not giving her juice during her stay (she's diabetic and needed to raise sugars ASAP!!) but management handled it and made sure my mom was taken care of. I visited her for four days and the food is amazing , we met some really wonderful people and friends there. I'd love to come back. The spa is wonderful!!!!!! The shower is the best part. read more

Upgrading to four stars from one because as I said in my original review..very good program but very poor communications with guests. They, eventually, did right by me but it did take a "dispute" claim through my cc co to get resolved. This place really was great and I've recommended it to others. They did load their food with potassium and you will pee, a lot, your first night there. Try to hit all the morning exercise programs you can and attend all the lectures in the afternoon. There were some issues communicating with guests when lectures were cancelled. Also, Dr. appts get cancelled so you need to be flexible, just expect it will happen. Stuff happens. read more

Stayed at Pritikin for 10 days...11/17-11/27/19......even though you pay for 10 days, you dont actually start working out on the 3rd day of stay because the first day of arrival, there isnt anything going on, and you see the doctor and have tests the next day. As far as things to do...there is NOTHING really ever going on.....yes, it is not a vacation place, however, it would be nice to have some sort of entertainment going on, but its dead in the evening. We wound the food lacking in taste and quality. It felt like a big pot of same stuff was cooked everyday, and just called different names. No salt, no fat and NO taste. The salad dressings are sweet and taste the same, regardless of the name. Since when extra virgin olive oil is not allowed? There is no individual approach.......Not having a history of blood pressure problems, or diabetes, my diet should be different from someone who has those problems. To make matters worse, we were overcharged, and a mistake was acknowledged but not corrected. WIll have to take it up with the credit card company. So....if a person has serious health issues, yes, the program may work for you if you follow it there but, the trick is, how much people follow once they go back home. I didnt feel special at all. read more

I was at Pritikin for two weeks in early July 2019. I originally booked for a week but added a second week, communicating by both email and phone. When I checked in they only had me booked into the program for two weeks but only had my room booked for one week. When I tried to meet with my program adviser to sort out the problem I found that she had left the company, but I was never notified or assigned to someone else. I requested that I be reassigned but they didn't/wouldn't. I found that it took ages for the blood test results to be posted on line and I had to call after I was home to get my final results. The gym equipment had TVs and USB ports to plug into, but the audio didn't work! The final straw was when I received a credit card charge a month after I was home for $250. When I inquired about it I was told it was for a change fee! Turns out they charged me for leaving the site early to go to the airport - I left late Saturday for an evening flight, rather than an early morning flight on Sunday. I did NOT change my reservation and paid for the entire two weeks, I just vacated my room 12 hours early. I don't know what they're thinking - are they charging me for not eating dinner there on Saturday? For not sleeping in my room the last night? For leaving the premises....what, was I a prisoner? Were they charging me based on my physical presence?? The group cooking classes with the chef were very good, but the private cooking lesson could have been better. They made no effort to find out what I wanted to learn, they just made the same recipes with everyone for all the private lessons. In my case it was salmon, even though I am a vegetarian and eat no animal/fish/chicken products! On the positive side, the gym staff was good, the lectures were good (especially the nutritionist), and the wait staff in the dining room were exceptional. I think the organization as a whole has some issues (program advisers, reservations, and accounting.) They seem money grubbing charging me a ridiculous "change fee". read more

Finding ourselves at Pritikin this spring was the result of a perfect storm that worked totally in our favor. Exercise, Education, Diet plus a supporting cadre of intelligent friendly guests in a beautiful setting. We could have had golf and spa days, but instead we immersed ourselves in the Pritikin Longevity plan. Expert training, nutritionists and medical staff, plus delicious South Florida influenced cuisine including entree specialties of game, caribbean seafood, and a multitude of vegan selections. Result: pounds dropped, cholesterol dropped, blood pressure dropped, medications eliminated-- fitness and fun in the Florida sun! read more

The good: Overall good experience. Facilities are luxurious and well decorated. When you use the spa you also get to use all the facilities, pool, spa, etc the whole day. Very good deal and def. Relaxing. Customer service is very good. Food was very good. Overall will return for the experience as a whole. It would have helped if my massage therapist had experience it did not seem like she had much, please see below: The NOT so good: Unfortunately the person that did my massage did not show skill whatsoever and no bedside manners. The massage was relaxing just because of the nature of the activity but the massage therapist had no skill, asked no questions to assess what I needed and was or was not comfortable with. Will go there again for the experience as a whole, but not for the massage itself.. thats for sure. Decor was gorgeous, but you could see some def. signs of wear in some of the furniture of the spa and hotel as a whole. read more

For anyone with any type of chronic disease, this is the place to go to help get that disease reversed. The medical team is fantastic- they really know their stuff! This is an evidence-based treatment plan that is actually covered under Medicare to reverse cardiovascular disease (the hotel stay is not covered, but the medical part is). Love this place! I wish there could be one in every major city - the health of our country would greatly improve. read more

Pritikin is a great place to get yourself back on track. It is not a diet but a lifestyle. The food is low in sodium, sugar, and fat it is absolutely delicious. It helps you become more aware of how good food tastes on its own without all the additives like butter and excess oil. However my favorite part of Pritkin besides the food is the gym. You get personal attention with daily exercise classes and an amazing staff. They are always there to help you along the way and will answer any questions or concerns. They know everyone by name and are always there cheering you on and giving great tips. PS Zumba is a must!! read more

Arrived Saturday 20 Oct., in five days I already feel better than I have in years. More energy, a bit lighter, but more importantly, better educated about health. The lectures and meals are geared around healthy choices for diet and exercise. The program is excellent and first hand reports from those who have been here a week or two are amazing: lower blood pressure, off medications, loss of weight.
