This property is beautiful and was the perfect place to wind down after our 5-night cruise to the Bahamas. We arrived early around 11:00 AM and were immediately greeted with a glass of prosecco. Because I'm a Platinum member, I was able to get an early check-in and an upgrade. The staff took great care of us, bringing our bags up to the room while giving us a tour of the property. Our room was a stunning 1-bedroom suite with partial ocean views. The setup directly at the beach with refreshments was beautiful, as was the pool area, and we were told the pools were heated. Now, if you've read one of my reviews before, you know I'm going to order room service, and it did not disappoint. Just a heads up, valet was $60 a night. I will absolutely be back, and a huge thank you to the staff for such a great experience! read more

Stayed for a weekend and the site right on the beach is incredible. It's also walkable to downtown Key Biscayne which is a huge plus. The gym is decent and there is a fitness instructor that comes every morning for mat pilates or yoga near the beach entrance. I could see myself returning as it feels very far from home in a good way. read more

Checked in for a (much needed) kids free getaway over winter break to this new and improved Ritz. They had just reopened a few weeks prior after being closed for what I believe was a year. When we checked in the woman behind the desk told me they were still working the kinks out, which proved to be true for our stay. The hotel itself is beautiful. I remember thinking it was amazing when I stayed there 7 years beforehand, but it truly is gorgeous now. It's a little more modern than your typical ritz, but still super classy. We spent most of our time at the adults only pool (again- no kids) which was delightful. Our room was a typical size, but beautifully decorated and very clean (it even smelled new). We didn't have the most ideal view straight ahead from our balcony, but could see the beautiful ocean when we turned to the left. We ate dinner at Luma, which may have been one of the best meals I had in a long time. I'll save the details for my Luma review, but everything was truly delicious. But yes, there were kinks when it came to the service. Everyone was super nice, but the service wasn't quite up to Ritz standards. We ordered Miami vice frozen drinks (yum) at the pool along with chips and guac. While our drinks came out after about 20-25 minutes we didn't get our chips & guac for over 2 hours. And when we inquired the waiter told us very nicely not to worry since we wouldn't be charged. We appreciated that, but we were also hungry! The service at Luma was also incredibly slow and while our waiter couldn't have been nicer everything moved at snail pace. And even the valet took longer than expected and when our car showed up we had to go track someone down to find our keys. I think all of this is due to new staff and will improve over time. However, the hotel is priced pretty high especially for the winter season so it's good to know that service may not be up to expectations before spending a considerable amount to visit. I do think once the service kinks are worked out this hotel is going to be pretty spectacular. It's also a great family destination and they have a lot of kids activities going on such as a magic show. Stayed there last weekend for two nights. Was told it was renovated as it was closed for a year. I do know though i was told spa, kids play room, digital key and digital menus were not working due to construction. Not sure what construction as it looks mostly the same. Additionally had to wait 45 minutes for a room service menu as QR was not working and our bathroom faucet fell off the wall. And it's the high season, January. Beware stay clear. Not worth 1500/night for a suite. Construction still going on, many workers not present in hotel but all over the site. Very disappointed. read more

The new spa facilities are nice and every member of the staff was welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, this is simply not a destination spa. The only amenities are a small hot tub and steam room which they say is eucalyptus but was not. You do not have access to the hotel pool and their relaxation lounge is bright and does have a relaxing feel. The garden area was surround by high rise buildings and not relaxing either. The massage was okay. It is a beautiful spa and may be good for guests but is not worth a separate visit. read more

I want to be positive; after reading other reviews I realized many were very on mark. The facility was very short staffed. It took almost 30 minutes to check in with the 2 desk staff. Zero help from the bell hop. There were apologies and champagne passed out. The bar was dark for a very airy decorated hotel and the one bartender was so overwhelmed busy. I had a room on the bay side; the Miami skyline was beautiful. The outdoor bar near the adult pool was short staffed as well. The bartender was so overwhelmed he kept dropping items (Wednesday 2/21- afternoon about 3:45pm). Causing longer wait times. The hotel is a few short steps off the beach; with several access points. Both the adult pool area and the family pool area were nice and clean. The coffee shop had long lines and short staff. But everything tasted great. All and all; very short staff. I just left the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne. I was there for a conference and my mom tagged along for some sunny beach and pool time. This is a gracious older property with beautiful pools and direct beach access. The staff working here is attentive and friendly, especially Secret the attendant at the beach. The food and buffet servers are the conference went above and beyond - the Mexican buffet was impressive with solid vegetarian options and always try their perfect mini muffins. I am Marriot Gold and had a two beds room with a small stove and sink. The room was comfortable with a balcony facing a parking area; the bathroom is unfortunately too small. This calm and charming hotel is full of thoughtful touches - a shell animal left on my mom's bed, a dog visiting the lobby next to the beautiful fresh rose arrangement. We did have a surprising security situation at one point in our stay. Ms Rosa did all she could do to make it right and create a special beach day for my mom. Key Biscayne is close to the best of the city of Miami while also feeling relaxing and away from it all. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

We spent the day at the Ritz in Key Biscayne & had an absolute MAGICAL time. It was the perfect vacation day featuring gorgeous ocean views, ideal weather, and FRESH & FLAVORFUL food. It was a foodies paradise. The Catina restaurant near the pool featured an impressive & unique margarita menu, we tried their spicy mango and Black Diamond (blackberries!). The spicy mango was simply out of this world delicious. Too good and too easy to drink! The appetizers were again SO FREAKING FRESH, like unreal. The flavor and seasoning also 100% on point. Every single bite was an experience. We ordered the Tuna Tostada and Octopus Ceviche. We also split a side of guac (again, so damn good). By the pool, we had their creamy concoction, piña coladas, with fresh fruit and a dark rum floater. Picture perfect and a great pair for a pool day. The poolside wildfire pizza...EPIC. Wanted to love this place but the beds are super hard! We left in the middle of the night because neither of us could get to sleep, but were charged for the full night. Overall great place otherwise. Love the attention to detail of free fruit by the pool. The hotel lobby welcomes you with the typical Ritz ambience, complete with gorgeous flowers and attentive staff. The "ocean view" room we paid extra for overlooked the entirety of the island, with only a sliver of ocean far in the distance. If you opt for this room, be sure to bring your glasses. What makes this place is the amazing bar tender with the famous mojitos! Be sure to stop by the tiki bar if you visit. I don't even know where to begin. My husband and I took a weekend get away and decided to visit Key Biscayne. The Ritz hands down was one of the most relaxing beautiful stays we have had. Our travels have taken is all over the world so saying this hotel is now one of our top 5 favorite is a bid deal. Our room was on the 14th floor, a one bedroom penthouse. Very roomy, clean, beautiful and the most comfortable bed we have EVER slept in. The rum bar downstairs was so fun. Amazing cocktails and the live music. The hotel in general is just beautiful. The pool area is fabulous and the staff is attentive and welcoming. Beach chairs are also available to guest and a few other beach activities. Will most definitely be back! read more

Beautiful one night stay at the RC Key Biscayne- definitely a hotel I'd like to visit again. Service: We checked in around 8pm- staff came out and welcomed us to the property, and check in was smooth. Throughout our stay, the staff was sweet and attentive. Room: A little dated but that's the charm of it- I think it has that "beach-y" aesthetic. Is the carpet a little faded? Yes. Do the electric sockets in the bathroom not work that well? Maybe. But the room overall was very comfortable and met all our needs. We even had a soaking bathtub, which was nice. Food: We had dinner at Lightkeepers- while we had a little trouble flagging our server at first, he gave us a lot of great recommendations after we told him we weren't super hungry and wanted to share several place. Per his recommendations, we got the Bluefin Tuna Crudo and Mussels Mariniere to start, and shared the Octopus Black Rice as our main. All were delicious (try the Pavlova for dessert!) Breakfast was at Lightkeepers too- the usual continental breakfast fare. Pools: There is a family pool area but also an adults only pool. We went to the adults' area, lots of space and chairs so you won't feel cramped and it was very clean. There is also a nice hot jacuzzi pool too. Staff will come by with a menu for drinks, we spent some nice time outside relaxing by the pool. Beach: Private beach area with lots of seats! Staff is attentive and will make up your chair for you/lay out towels. Overall, this is a great hotel for a lowkey vacation where you can enjoy the beach/pool, get some sun, and also enjoy some nice food/drinks with great service! Super chill. read more

EXCELLENT! My mom and I are checking out tomorrow after staying at the Ritz for the past six days. Our stay began incredibly upon check-in where the attendant Isabella helped us get a room with a better view than what I originally booked. First, I'll start off with the best part of this hotel: the proximity to the beach. I've never stayed at a beach front property before but this really made the experience a 10 for me. As a hotel guest, the beach attendants will set you up with chairs and an umbrella along with two towels, one which they lay on the chair for you, and one that they roll up to make a little pillow. This felt so luxurious to me, they really went the extra mile. There's also a server on the beach that brings ice water and can take your order if you'd like any type of other beverage or food. One day while I was on the beach an attendant brought everyone a small cup of pineapple which was really pleasant. This also happened by the adult pool, we were all given a small cup of watermelon. Being this close to the beach was really spectacular and allowed us to enjoy the sunrise and the beautiful ocean super easily. Next, the overall amenities and ambiance are spectacular. The adult pool is very nice and usually quiet. During our entire stay we rarely saw many other people which was lovely, we enjoyed the peace and quiet. The family pool is also stunning especially at night. My mom and I actually enjoyed this pool one night completely alone and it was just incredible. We also enjoyed the number of little stores inside of the hotel which offered cute souvenirs, clothes, and sunblock, etc. All of the stores, however, were overpriced, for example a Ritz Carlton water bottle totaling $54 but I guess it's expected at such a high end hotel. There was also a number of restaurants and bars on the property. Personally, we only ate at Dune Burgers and the marketplace, both which were good and basic. We didn't try any of the other options as we felt the menu was limited and over priced especially for the breakfast buffet which is over $100 per person. Other facilities included the gym and spa which were both lovely, and quiet. Also, the service overall was incredible. The housekeeper who took care of our room everyday went above and beyond by organizing the things in our bathroom and tucked my stuffed animal into bed! The few things that we didn't enjoy about our stay were the limited menu in the restaurant like I previously mentioned and the mandatory valet parking which is an additional cost each day. I was under the impression that I could park my own vehicle and was told otherwise. Valet was always very quick when we asked for the car, but it was something we felt was unnecessary as we could easily park our own car. Another thing is that there are not too many restaurants in the surrounding area of Key Biscayne. This was our first trip here and we definitely went into Miami a lot for meals and shopping, I wish Key Biscayne had more. Overall, I would DEFINITELY come back as there's so many things we didn't get to do and I will never grow tired of being that close to the beach! Let's talk about how nice this location is but also very secluded, which for me is a plus but for some it may be a hassle if you are a visitor to the city. I recently visited for an event soooo did not get to fully try any hotel accommodations or amenities. However, the experience I had was a 7/10. Here is the thing, the Miami scene is all about looks and that stretches all the way to Fort Lauderdale. The Ritz only has valet parking, which is about $30 but can be validated, if you are just visiting the restaurant, for a reduced price. This is not bad price, I expected to pay way more and tip on top of that. For me, not pulling up in a new or "elite" vehicle was the issue. Two valet servers literally started walking as I was pulling up then stood looked at my car, and walked away as they laughed and chatted. I pulled closer and had to roll down my window and yell "hello may you help me" before getting them to acknowledge me even though they were looking right at me with no other cars arriving. This was super demeaning for me, but I jokingly said to both valets and their coworker "hey I know my car is not super fancy but I am hard working and this is my work car for now". The young lady responded "oh I just thought you were uber because of the type of car"... 2015 Kia Optima if you wondering. But I'm not sure why it matters or why it was so hard for 2-3 people to avoid asking me if I needed help. The Ritz standards are all about customer service and I know from being accommodated in other cities. Nevertheless once I walked through the doors, the vibes changed a little. The servers at the event were amazing and just instinctively knew when I needed something or at least tried to find out and be friendly. Maybe next time I'll be sure to pull up in my Rolls Royce to see what the experience is like. read more

What a beautiful hotel! The staff are friendly everywhere you go around here; always smiling. There's 3 cool restaurants outside. Two pools, one party pool, and one adult pool. The largest fitness room I've ever seen, which has a cool view of the grounds while on the treadmill. The hotel is located along the beach where you can get set up with an umbrella and chair. The beach isn't that deep, but it is still nice nonetheless. Inside there's a nice cafe and bar, gift shop, a huge ballroom, with a piano in the hall, and several other rooms. This place is perfect to relax, wedding, or for a business function. It has such an elegant feel to it! Valet parking is at the entrance; the staff there are also very nice. read more

This is by far my favorite hotel in the Miami area. Super friendly and welcoming staff. From the moment you arrive the staff makes you feel welcome. The penthouse we stayed in on the top floor overlooking the water was spacious and very clean. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. So comfortable that we ended up sleeping in pass 9am which is not at all typical for us. The coffee shop downstairs had very experienced and friendly baristas serving delicious coffee and a hand full of breakfast treats including our favorite breakfast croissants In the evenings The RumBar located in the front lobby area offers a great selection of specialty cocktails including our favorites; Rum old fashioned & The Key. Additionally, a live band played Latin music each evening we were there. Hotel also has a private beach and offers complementary beach chairs and umbrellas plus few water activities. There are two pools. One for families and one for adults. Each one has a bar area and pool side service. We did enjoy few drinks by the pool but the most memorable was the burger la we got which were very juicy and flavorful. Must admit that we were pleasantly surprised since most time pool side food is ok at best. That was not the case at The Ritz. Can not wait to come back here next time. Five of us enjoyed 5 nights in two ocean view suites. The service was spectacular. No crowds in September so we had no waits and always had our pick of any beach chair, cabana, etc. Sunrises here are epic and not to be missed. The town of Key Biscayne is full of gorgeous homes and friendly folks. I will admit we grew a bit tired of the food after a few days, and wished for more flavor. That being said the guacamole at the cantina was delicious. Other favorites: cantina fish tacos and chicken quesadilla as well as the skirt steak at light keepers. Suites have kitchens so we were able to bring our favorite snacks and beverages which was nice. Room service is the real deal, delivered on a cloth covered table cart and artfully presented. Valet was super accommodating-- always fast and friendly. We are hoping the club level will be completed (currently under renovation) when we return next year. Can't wait to get back! read more

I've been coming here repeatedly now, every single time I'm in (well, near) Miami, I stay here... it feels like home to me, at this point. I just stayed here last week again... amazing as usual. I was scrolling through the other posts and the one girl gave it a one star review for "packed pool" and "dirty gym" -- HUH!? I don't understand what she's talking about because, again, I've been here so many times and I always go to the gym here, whether it's morning or night and it's ALWAYS incredibly clean; every machine has a towel and water for you. The only minor cosmetic thing is some dry wall patching that needs to be painted -- but it was super clean. Also, she mentioned the pools being packed -- again, maybe she was at the family pool? Even so, my family was home so this time I started there but felt weird with all the families and kids, but it wasn't crowded. I went to the adult pool and it was totally relaxed. But, both pools had PLENTY of chairs, even between 11a-2p., about 90% open. My kids usually come and they always remember the flowers as you walk in... they didn't disappoint again. That's always the thing that sticks with me. I love the ice cream shop, the Rum bar is great, as well as the other restaurants on the property for a quick bite and the pricing isn't insane. MINOR THINGS TO ADDRESS (still five stars): - The elevator frame leading to the 300s rooms... there is some chipping on the white wood by it that needs refinishing and repainting, which has clearly been there a while. Also, the housekeeping door frame as super gashed up, which I noticed. - In the rooms, I wish they would have a second, usable fridge in the hot Miami weather. Right now, the only fridge is entirely used up with the mini-bar so we took out the non-carbonated things and put a water or two... maybe consolidate the wine glasses (to the right of the cabinet) to the ice bucket area and put in a second fridge. - Again, super minor but for the life of me, I couldn't get the new shampoo, conditioner bottle pumps to open and dispense. I had to take them off. Super minor, nitpicky. MORE GREAT STUFF - Service is impeccable at every turn, almost to where you want them to stop being so nice, you feel guilty almost, haha. The people at the pool are great, especially working out in the hot sun. The people at the front door are amazing, front desk, and especially the valet people! You scan the QR code for your car and by the time you get down there, it's there. We didn't wait - ever. - Seems minor but I noticed... there is ice water for you at every turn; in the lobby, at the pool, in the gym, etc. You could get by without but it's great they have it. - Again, the entire entry, but the scent of it sticks with you for years. I have no idea what magic they use but it's great, as well as the floral arrangements that you can see them working on early morning. - A little thing which is great is the champagne machine! It's "cute" but such a conversation starter, and I think it's included... little bottles of champagne if you'd like. - Conference rooms. Man, if you have an event... it's crazy how much space they have! OVERALL Again, this is my go-to in the Miami area... every single time. It's not overwhelming like a "super" resort (like a monster one), and not too small... it's a perfect size. It's in a perfect area, if you want to just walk to a dinner or the convenience stores. Let me start off by saying our family has reduced our vacations to long weekends due to our daughter's practice schedule as an athlete. So when we are finally able to get away for a weekend, we really like to treat ourselves to a nice vacation. We decided to go to Miami since it is only a few hour drive from where we live. We decided on the Ritz Key Biscayne Bay because The Ritz is our go to hotel and has never disappointed no matter what state we have been. This one is on the beach on a quaint island off of South Beach. So let's start off with the room I booked on my app. I requested an ocean view suite on a high floor at the rate of $977 a night. When I arrived for check in, I was told only low floors available with an ocean view, per the front desk rep there was no other room on a high floor with an ocean view. After getting to my room, to my surprise it is a partial ocean view, and when I say partial that is being nice. In order to see the ocean you have to stand on the sliver of space that cannot even be called a balcony and look around the building to see the water. So I began to look online to see if this in fact was the room I booked and lo and behold I see that they attempted to trick me. I was sold an ocean view and paid for an ocean view when in the fact the room I was given on a low floor with partial view is going for a lower rate and is a totally different tier of room. I called the front desk and after speaking with 3 different people that all wanted to argue that I was wrong, a manager got on the line and said he would credit back the difference, which was over $300 less per night than what i originally paid. So the room itself is nothing grand. The carpets are filthy with stains every where. Furniture was not cleaned but at least the sheets and towels were. The room itself just seemed sub par in comparison to other Ritz hotels we have been too. The next day we go down to the pool around noon. Most of the chairs had towels to show "occupied" but remained empty the entire 2 hours I was at the pool which just seems wrong. If a chair isn't being used the workers should remove the towels in order for people to be able to sit and enjoy the pool. The pool itself was disgusting, you can see scum film/residue and hair floating around. Pool service from the bar/restaurant was non existent, sat for an hour before someone even nodded that she was coming but alas she never did so after an hour of waiting we decided to just go sit by the beach. Beach service was just as bad, attendants acting like you were being a bother by asking for chairs by the beach and then another hour before you had food/drink service. And to get that service I had to chase someone down in which he looked at me like I was rude for asking to place an order. When we returned to the room around 4pm we wanted to order room service for an early dinner since every restaurant closed by 4pm even though it says online and in the hotel that they don't close until later (6pm-10pm). There was no menu in the room and when I called the front desk they said there should be a QR sticker on the desk but no it was not so they said someone would come to drop off a menu and no one did. After an hour of waiting we just left to go out to eat. The next day we attempted to have dinner in the Lightkeepers restaurant, the hours posted said it closed at 10pm, we arrived at 8:45pm and the front desk rep said sorry they are closed. There were other things from valet service to front reception desk and it can be summed up to the customer service experience with the staff. The staff is not helpful, no one wants to make sure you are having a pleasant stay, no one moves like they are getting paid to work. When you are staying at the Ritz you have an expectation of accommodations and of service, both of which are lacking at this Ritz Biscayne Bay. read more

In A Nutshell: -The Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne is a very beautiful property. -There is a private beach that is steps away from when you exit any one of the buildings. -The entire property is green & lush w/ excellent landscaping. -The inside of the hotel is very fancy w/ a nice stair case, high ceilings & wide hallways. -There are plenty of places to lounge. -There is also a coffee/pastry shop called Key Pantry & a restaurant called Lightkeepers on-site. Love it here. It's so quiet and serene. Gorgeous hotel. Staff is so attentive, warm and friendly. Definitely feels as though you are on your own island. We rented a pool cabana one day and were pleased to see that it came with an extensive amount of covered chaise lounge seating to the side of the cabana as well as at pool's edge. What an absolute nightmare. I booked a 9-night stay several months in advance to be able to celebrate my birthday at one of my previously favorite places on earth. In my booking directly through the Ritz Carlton, I explicitly requested a room on a high floor away from the elevators, a request which I reconfirmed with the concierges countless before my arrival. Upon checking in, what did I get? A room on the sixth floor right next to the elevators where I had the immense displeasure of listening to the elevators running all night long. Silver lining, it's not like I was able to sleep anyway. I have always looked forward to my stays at this Ritz in particular because the beds as so comfortable that I have the best sleep of my otherwise stressful life. But not this time. The room that I was trapped in was a residential unit (owned by someone, with several locked up closets) that had the hardest and most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. I tossed and turned for several nights, getting up each morning with my back in agony, but I thought the problem was me or the way I was sleeping until my sister joined me and confirmed that the bed was so awful that she couldn't sleep, either. When I asked for help with the awful mattress, the resort staff swapped out the featherbed topper, which made zero difference. I had to resort to using foam rollers in the gym each morning to ease the aching in my back and also two massages during my stay that didn't help at all. Housekeeping was another nightmare. They just didn't feel like servicing the room, even though we weren't in it and didn't have the "Privacy Please" sign on the door. I was lucky enough to get turndown service that I requested for my whole stay maybe 3 out of 9 nights. The daily service was almost nonexistent. When we saw our housekeeper one day, she shook me down for a bigger tip and then didn't even do more than remake the already made bed. I had to keep calling and begging for fresh towels, because that was apparently too much to ask for. Ignoring the issues with my room, which I tried not to spend too much time in, I was ready to still give my stay a five star review because I absolutely ADORE the incredible staff in the Club. Mike, Olivier, Isabella, and Leydi are wonderful, and I cannot sing their praises enough. The spa staff (Isabella, Shontal, Gigi) and Rumbar team (Anthony, Alex, Angelica) are just as fantastic. They are the reason I gave this review two stars instead of one (or zero). What they couldn't save was my nightmarish checkout experience. I confirmed that I checked out with the front desk and that the amount charged to my account was as expected, especially because I never order room service, charge things to my room, or mess with the honor bar. (I didn't need to -- I had access to the Club Lounge where everything was provided for me all day long.) Several hours after checking out, I was sent a digital copy of my "Folio" (charges) that included over $300 of honor bar charges with an asterisk next to the room number and a Check #. As this was obviously a mistake, I called the resort to sort it out. After spending no less than an hour trying to get this charge removed, the resort confirmed that the charge was not mine and should have been against another room, but they didn't know how to proceed. The obvious answer is that they should refund me the erroneous charges that I didn't incur. Naturally, they have not done that, despite acknowledging that the error was theirs. I have been told several times that they will figure out how to correct it and refund me, but the calls never come after hours of waiting. Oh, but it gets better. While I still have all of my emails about my stay and text messages with the concierges, they removed my stay (which I paid a substantial amount for) from my Bonvoy account (bye bye points) and decided that I don't deserve to respond to the standard stay review questionnaire, which was never sent to me. Had they sent it, I might not have had to resort to Yelp, but here we are. read more

I feel it is my civic duty to save people from wasting their time and money here. I'll try to be brief... Gym- dirty Service- poor; bellmen, servers, shopkeepers and concierge on cell phones entire stay Restaurants- long waits, poor food, obviously expensive, servers complaining about the quality of this particular ritz and even saying they cannot wait to leave Main hotel area (lobby, hallways, elevator)- dirty Pool- PACKED, not peaceful, pool employees kicking SOCCER BALLS OVERHEAD, an iguana carrying a dead rat around the pool while employees filmed and laughed and chased it around with a pool towel to smack it to death??? Unsanitary and not funny. They put the rat in the regular garbage can... holes and stains in the pool towels. Overall, dirty, poor service, and of course overpriced. NOT the ritz standard you'd expect. read more
