By that time, I had already driven 30 minutes to get there, so I hesitantly agreed to the $250 charge, and proceeded with the (verbal only) agreement that he would run diagnostics on my device. After that - I never received even an email, invoice, or receipt from him - NOTHING! I got a phonecall a few days later, in which he old me the data is not recoverable and I might as well toss the device, because it's useless. I picked up my device immediately, and shipped it off to a real company for accurate diagnostics. I will be disputing this with my credit card company, and going to the BBB if I have to.

Then they ran diagnostic tests that revealed RAM faults, requiring a new motherboard. In a few days, the new motherboard arrived, and now the computer is back home and working perfectly. This is the same sort of experience I've had before with the Computer Technology Center, so I was not surprised. Their office is open--they don't take your machine to another room. They'll do the diagnosis right in front of you. If the repair is simple, they'll make the repair while you watch. This openness gives one great confidence in their work.
