As someone with 10 years of experience in facials and massage, I noticed that the therapist did not maintain continuous contact while performing the massage and did not do the same massage techniques on both sides of the body, which is a standard practice. Additionally, the hot stone treatment and scrub were very brief--lasting no more than 10 seconds each. I felt there was some judgment based on the fact that I used a Groupon, which was a Christmas gift I received. I wasn't aware it was a Groupon. If the service had been up to par, my boyfriend would have left a larger tip. However, after learning about the Groupon, the receptionist's demeanor shifted, and they seemed to smirk when asking for gratuity. They did offer substitute services but not a massage as booked and the spa experience was below acceptable for resort quality .
