WOW, what a beautiful place!!! From the prompt airport service to and from to the champagne check in. Staff amazing, accommodating, knowledgeable and super friendly! The room was amazing, modern, clean and very spacious. We were in the Superior room with the pool on the balcony over looking the resort, pools and ocean views, simply breathtaking!!! The spa was perfect, wore robes provided by the resort to a very peaceful and luxurious beach and tropical spa;)) We stayed all inclusive and were so happy we did! although didn't go to the Thai restaurant the other restaurants and buffets were absolutely delicious! We did venture out to a few local favorites but would recommend All inclusive. I can not wait to come back to this gorgeous place:-))))))) read more

The island is lovely, but hugely disappointed in this hotel! When we first checked in, they talked us into upgrading our rooms, which was fine. But our AC did not work and we had no hot water. We called and they sent someone up for the hot water, with no remedy. Had to sleep hot. The next morning, I called to again complain about the AC and water. They were able to get us hot water, but no cold AC. The Supervisor said he was going to move us to an upgraded room, but it was not ready yet. He wanted me to look at the room first. The elevator in the other building was "being maintained" and will be working "in a few minutes". We walked up the 5 flights of stairs and saw the nice room, then back down the stairs. 6 hours later when we returned to the hotel to move rooms, we had to schlep all our luggage up 5 flights of stairs, in 90 degree heat and 100% humidity as it rained most of the day. Elevator has no Guarantee of being repaired before we leave tomorrow. The AC in the new room is cooler, but will not get the room cold. The smoke detector above the bed kept flashing red and white lights all night, had to sleep with a towel over my eyes. The Supervisor had a really bad attitude. When I told him that we had a 2 bedroom suite booked for a group trip in July and was considering canceling, he just said "I really don't care"! Oh, the website says there are 3 restaurants. WRONG, one is closed. Since it was been raining, there is only 1 restaurant open today because the others are outside. This All Inclusive resort boasts that you have open bar. But they only have Smirnoff and Absolute vodka. Pretty low class. Not seeing the PRIVILEGE in the Hotels name. read more

I am disappointed to not be able to write a good review for Privilege because I really looked forward to our stay, but I feel that it is important for the owners of this resort to have honest feedback about our experience. First off, the positive: the bar staff, waitstaff, housekeeping and front desk staff were incredible. Extremely attentive, friendly, and top notch. A lot of the food was very good (for all-inclusive standards), especially Asian Fusion night at the buffet. My husband and I had the Platinum Suite, and it was exactly how it is portrayed in pictures. Our room was clean, well-stocked, and absolutely amazing. Our trip was for the purpose of our wedding, but we chose not go get married through Privilege. I think that things went negative starting there. I contacted Privilege to book a group of rooms. I will take full responsibility for making assumptions prior to signing the contract about how flexible they could be with our guests and their accommodation requests. The rates for the rooms are very expensive for Isla, but we wanted to ensure All-inclusive options for our guests so we went with Privilege. We discovered the contract language to be unclear in regards to a 3rd person in a room. It read like you would get 15% off the full room price, which in reality is only 15% off one person's portion of the room rate. Many of our friends ended up paying $300-400 per room/ per night. Then, my step-sister and husband planned to bring their two well-behaved kids. There is no child rate listed in the contract, and when we inquired, Privilege said you must pay full price for kids including All-inclusive food and drink. The kids are 2 and 5, they are barely eating and definitely not consuming alcohol. I get it that it is an adults-oriented resort, but it was a wedding and we were bringing them over $50,000 in business, but they wouldn't budge. Since you cannot come on-site if you are staying somewhere else, that was not an option so my step-sister ended up paying over $600/night for their room since we had already signed the contract. When they checked in, they also were told "No" when they requested to have adjoining rooms with my dad and his wife (grandpa and grandma) to help with the kids. They were actually put in a completely separate building. Now I am no princess, but this is a 4 star resort, and our guests (35 total) payed upwards of $300/night to stay here. We were pretty much told "no" for every request, and there was no flexibility in rates. A couple booked outside of the group rate on a third party website, and payed one half of what everyone else payed per night. Isn't it supposed to be cheaper when you book a block of rooms? Most of our guests were disappointed with the small size of their rooms (considering $300+/night), and view of the street. Also all of our rooms were in separate buildings even though we booked as a block. During our stay we had a small gathering in our room for a "grooms reception" the night before our wedding. It was 8pm, and it was only about 20 people in the room (the rest upstairs on the balcony) talking in quiet voices, and security came up to our room 3 times. I would understand if it was 1am or even 11pm, but it was 8pm! Finally we just moved to the patio, but it was SOOOOO hot, and there were no lights. We requested a couple of bottles of champagne for the room to have a toast that evening, but were told no. We offered to buy the champagne (even though everyone was paying all-inclusive including the kids) and were told they don't have enough glasses. We ordered 7 appetizers for room service, and were told we ordered too much. I totally understand a wedding group can be rowdy and annoying, but if you don't want wedding groups to stay at your resort, please don't make it an option. Don't allow us to book, and then treat our group poorly because other guests are annoyed. I didn't know it was a "super quiet" resort until we arrived. We should have been informed of that right away so that we could book somewhere else that is more welcoming to groups. After our group left, my husband and I stayed through the week. During that time, the elevator did not work in our building for over 36 hours. We were on the 4th floor. Kinda annoying when you forget your sunscreen. The power also went out our last two days. I get the power outage was not their fault, but a little discount for the elevator situation would have been nice. If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful, peaceful resort for you and your significant other, Privilege is great but be sure to book through a 3rd party to avoid paying $300/night in the off-season. I am giving this resort a 3 star rating because it is beautiful if you can get a good rate for a couple. If you are looking for a place for a group, STAY AWAY. read more

We had a blast. Check-in was easy and the glass of champagne during check-in helped too. We did not go for the All-Inclusive. Rather just the Hotel + Breakfast (we wanted to try some "local" places to eat during our stay). The room was very nice, and room service was great. We even had a Sparkling Wine bottle and some delicious appetizers delivered to our room after we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary. We did not try the other restaurants for our breakfast but rather chose the Beach Club (you have to make reservation prior). The service was fantastic. The waiters were very helpful and the Mexican dishes were pretty authentic (chilaquiles prepared at time of ordering or else they get soggy). The beach is kept clean with the city raking the sand and cleaning the beach every morning. Although the hotel does not have a huge beach and the swimming zone is small due to beach erosion, there is still enough room to enjoy the beach and walk to other beaches close by in Playa Norte. The swimming pool is nice if you go early. Later on during the day some guests may come that ignore the "No Smoking" signs or cannot hold their liquor and start getting noisy. But then you just go to the Beach Club and enjoy the ocean water. Service to the beach lounge area stops at 5 PM so that the waiters can concentrate on the supper arrangements and evening activities in the Beach Club. Will definitely go again!!!! We also realized that the mixed drinks at the hotel are far better than any other place in the island where great offers may be available but they are mostly watered down and made with very cheap ingredients. read more

Good hotel great staff!! My room needed more AC but it was very clean and also small. The food ranged from bland to really good. Drinks were ok. If you get all inclusive you have to try different things to see what's good and tip your bartenders well enough and the drinks won't be an issue. Eduardo, a bartender, was great. He even took my partner and I out to show us different bars/clubs in the area. Great employee and host. Most memorable night there. The ocean water is beautifully in comparison to Cancun. I've stayed at this hotel the last three years-- hotel seems to be going a bit downhill- for this reason: half way in to our stay we were woken up by calls to our room and my cell phone at 1:00 in the morning demanding that we wake up and let a maintenance man in because the room next to us was having lighting problems. I was asleep and ended up having to get up and wait while they opened the breaker box in our room's hallway. I couldn't go back to sleep that night- in the morning they told us we needed to pack our things and bring them to the lobby for a few hours while they prepare a different room for us. They refused to have someone help me with the luggage. Turned out they were moving us to a worse room. We refused- after ruining our sleep and wasting our afternoon packing we did not receive any apology or anything to make up for the fiasco. The staff at the hotel- cleaning crew, security, waiters, bartenders and front desk staff were great as usual- it seemed only to be the upper level management that were extremely rude and inconsiderate. I still love this hotel for the beach and friendly service staff- but regrettably may not be back next year. Hopefully higher management make some changes to the way they approach hotel management. read more

We really enjoyed out time here. The property is beautiful with gorgeous rooms and the best beachfront in Isla. The crew is really wonderful and friendly. The food and drinks could be hit and miss. We switched over to shots and beer and that worked well for us. Taco, guacamole, made to order omelets and grilled fish and chicken were winners. Much of the buffet food was too bland and unremarkable. The breads and pastries were very good.. We had a fun dinner in Satay but the hygiene may need attention since we felt sick after both visits. So first they would not let us stay there for no reason. So the owner let us get food for free but the staff didn't know so the would let us get food so they got really mad. And before all of that we were waiting an hour and a half to get checked in. So ya don't waste your time and money with Privilege Aluxes it's not worth it. read more

We used to LOVE coming here so much that we'd visit twice a year. This time has changed that. The front desk staff is lacking. We always book the Suite Deluxe AI and always ask to pay for an upgrade upon arrival. Especially since this week was both my and my husband's birthdays as well as our anniversary. We are always told that there are none available but yet I can search online for the exact dates and it shows availability. On top of that the internet service was not working. My husband had to work some this trip but without internet that made it very frustrating. Apparently, they were in no hurry to fix it. When our minibar was restocked, they did not leave any liquor or snacks. My husband asked for some but they did not leave any. We LOVE the wait staff and as always, their attention was good. We decided that we will not be visiting this place again anytime soon. We can go anywhere else in the world but chose here. Obviously it was a mistake. Had I known it would be like this, I would have cancelled the trip. We felt so unwelcome. read more

They advertise this resort as 5 star, it is a 2 at best. The best part about this resort is the clear turquoise beach it lays next to. The resort is small and has no entertainment, besides music at night at the beach club for dinner. Wifi is spotty and only semi works in your room or the lobby. The rooms are tiny unless you pay several hundred dollars more for one of the rooftop rooms. The bathroom in the room had a sewer smell every night. The grounds of the resort are kept clean. No entertainment, games, or exercises at the pool. Sabor the buffet was terrible, satay had what seemed frozen tv dinner food that was warmed up and put on a fancy plate, beach club food had no flavor and didn't have that great of a menu for dinner. Their lunch menu wasn't great either. Drinks were watered down with cheap liquor. The pool bartender was great even though the mixed drinks weren't. He made good shots off the top of his head and my husband had good conversation with him. Our room was facing the cemetery. Who wants to come on vacation to look at caskets, how creepy. Wont be back even if it was $300 for a round trip package. They need to upgrade the resort, food, drinks, and entertainment. read more

I stayed here for my honeymoon in September 2012. I have never stayed at a hotel like this it is the a beautiful hotel with very friendly staff and the premises are clean. A little creepy that there's a cemetery right behind the hotel nothing to worry about tho unless it was zombie apocalypse. The breakfast buffet is delicious with many options, one of the nights they had a candle lit dinner right on the beach it was very romantic. I recommend this hotel no doubt read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. My friend and I just had the most discriminatory experiences trying to eat at their beach restaurants. Although we were wearing dresses over our bathing suits, they would not provide us service because at first we weren't "properly dressed." Then we made modifications, they said they wouldn't serve us because we "didn't have reservations." However, the night before, a family of 10 that we met spoke highly of how accommodating they were and didn't require advanced notice. We looked around to a bunch of empty tables and people dressed in pure beachwear (which we had dresses and sandals) . I can't believe this and I have to say that this was actually a very discriminatory experience. The guy next to is wore shorts and flip flops, but dresses and sandals were somehow inappropriate with groups of people wearing more revealing and far more casual clothing. Funny how all of the people in both restaurants were all Caucasian, and many were dresses in beachwear, while American Latina women were turned away while dressed in more formal attire. I am purely disgusted by this experience and it puts a terrible spin on an otherwise wonderful trip. read more

Privilege Aluxes was amazing! My wife and I just spent our honeymoon there and couldn't be any happier! Make sure to book the all inclusive as it is well worth it and then some. As we arrived the bellman gave us two glasses of champagne while checking in. We booked the Honeymoon Suite of course and was thrilled with the room. The minibar was stocked with 6 beers, coke, sprite, water, and chips. We also had 3 mini bottles stocked as well. The only thing is they did not restock the mini bottles daily just the beer and other drinks. The hot tub was great on the balcony, the water got extremely hot. Downside to that was there was a little bit of a leak in the drain so double check if you have that. The food was amazing everyday, especially the guacamole of course. Some of the best micheladas I've ever had and ceviche as well.Make sure you speak with Sergio or Samuel at the pool bar, they are amazing and will Mix special drinks for you. Tip is not necessary with the all inclusive but appreciated. Satay was great and the buffet breakfast at Sabor was awesome. Great T-bone steak at the beach club. Beautiful cabanas on the beach and the pool area. We are excited to say that we want to plan a trip again for next year with our close friends and family! See you soon Privilege! read more

Ok so please don't think that I'm one of those up tight people with high expectations. If you want to hear an honest response, keep reading! Im a very well traveled, late twenties female and have even been to club med in cancun before as well. The reason they get one star is because they STOLE my iPad. They have an I room safe, but it is not big enough for my iPad to fit, so I left it in my luggage under clothes. The first few days went by with no problems, but the third day, we left for breakfast and out to explore the island for the day. We came back to find my iPad was gone. I went down to file a claim with the manager who didn't seemed concerned at all and forced us back to the room with security where they RANSACKED our room. I'm talking mattress off the box spring, all our linens on the floors, dumped all our suitcases out etc. they claimed I misplaced it and it happens all the time. Like I told her, it's not a piece of jewelry, it's an iPad, kinda hard to misplace. She made me fill out a 5 page form explaining where I went all day, what time I left etc...whatever, as long as I got my iPad. They then Left the room saying they will look into it and get back to me, and left the room a complete disaster. Not once did they express any concern or comfort us that they will do what they can. They kept speaking in Spanish and glaring at me as if I did something wrong. Two days go by and I have heard nothing, so I again approach the front desk looking for answers. They then bring me into this tiny room where I'm by myself with a male manager. He basically interrogated me for over an hour asking me if I'm trying to get something out of them, then once my male friend finally came in to check in, he then threatened us both that if we were to file a report the police will come, and if ONE single thing is different from my original claim, I'LL go to jail (wth?!) he was obviously trying to get me not to file a police report and trying to scare me. He said they will take my passport etc if I go down there. I told him I still plan on filing a report (I really wasn't...who would go to a police station in a foreign country and give up a passport?) The next day the manager walked up to me at the pool and basically said, "go get your passport were going to the police station now together" heeellll no I'm not going anywhere with you and bringing my passport! I told her my dad is a police officer in the states and he knows people in Mexico City and we will handle this ourselves (which is true, but we had no intentions on using those contacts). The day we left, they still had nothing to give us, no apology was made, no reassurance given. So we left with the feeling of being robbed and then interrogated all while paying them a lot of money to stay there. My strategy obviously worked though, after the manager heard we will be handling it ourselves, the day I landed back in the states, I get a phone call, they had my iPad! Amazing huh?? He offered no explain action or apology and simply repeated my address and said they will send it. Took 4 weeks to get to me, but it did eventually arrive. I asked if they found it in my room and all he said was "no" so someone did STEAL it! The thing is, I understand they don't have control of their employees, and I even told the manager that I don't want anyone to get in trouble, I just wanted my iPad back..it had all my pics on it..etc. it's all I wanted.. I told him to tell everyone that whoever took it..just leave it in the room the next day, I even gave them the times we would be gone and there would be no questions asked if it was returned. Even though they don't have control of their employees, they most certainly have control of how they handle the situation and treat their guests, and I don't think accusing them or interrogating them is the way to handle things. And a simple apology would've made me very happy. To be fair, I have to admit, aside from those problems, This place has beautiful rooms, like beyond gorgeous! The bed is pretty horrific, but we had did so much everyday we were pooped and slept fine anyway. The food is pretty bad, so DONT do the all inclusive! Waste of money and there's plenty of places to eat within walking distance iPod the restaurant. The pool bartender was awesome and greeted us by name everyday. It is pretty boring though, no nightlife, no entertainment. If you want to just beach it all day and crash early, come here. But if not, I highly suggest club med in cancun. They have beach activities (snorkeling, kayak..etc) and have entertainment at night...and heir food is incredible. Just a thought :) Also, they are not as Americanized as cancun, which is totally fine, and kinda cool and a different atmosphere, but just be ready to have to speak more Spanish than in cancun. All in all, would never go back bc of how we were treated, even after they discovered my iPad was in fact stolen by their employee. read more
