If I could give them zero stars, I would. This company is a rip-off. First of all, "prize"? What prize? Just a piece of metal junk encased in a plastic pod. Worthless. The "prize" is a come-on. Second, before I realized I was dealing with a cracker-jack item, I foolishly ordered a "buy 2 get 1 free" deal on Nov. 16, 2015. They were going to be gifts for a yearly Christmas event in early to mid December. Thinking a month would be plenty of time. They arrived Dec. 7th..... and ALL 3 WERE SMASHED TO SMITHEREENS. I don't mean broken, but the box was rattling full of shards of glass. There was NO padding and in just a small cardboard box.....and 2 of the candles were not even in the striped boxes. I tried emailing them and didn't receive a response for a 4 days! They said they were sorry and would replace them. I sent a 2nd email to ask them to please expedite shipping. I was told that since my original order was standard, that they couldn't expedite. REALLY? So I waited for a week and heard nothing and no "your order has shipped" email, so I tried calling them in Santa Monica. They never answered the phone for 3 consecutive days I tried calling them at all hours of the day. On the 4th day, someone finally answered. She looked up my order and she said they were "waiting for a response" from me!!! WHAT? What for? I had a lengthy conversation with the girl, who was sweet, but obviously not the decision maker. She said that she would submit the order and that they would make sure that the packages was padded. By then, it was Dec. 14th, and the event was to be Dec. 18th. She said I would receive my order in 7-10 working days. 10 working days would be Dec. 28th. I did not receive my candles until Jan. 4 2016.....15 working days........nearly 2 MONTHS from my original order! For this I paid $50 and got 3 short candles with nothing but junk prizes. I will NEVER order from them again!! It's really bad when the the product isn't worth the price, but it THE worst when customer service is TERRIBLE! read more

My daughter had sent me a Prize Candle a couple months ago. I really like it so I ordered four of them as gifts on December 9th. They were on sale and with shipping ($12.99) the total came to $44.99. I received confirmation of my order, but no tracking information followed. I sent an email requesting shipping info, but did not receive a reply. Finally I received a shipping email on Dec. 22, saying my order would arrive on Dec. 24th, which would be in time for Christmas. The order arrived and the box was in good condition, but the sound of broken glass was unmistakable. Inside two of the candles on the bottom were broken. They were not packed in separate gift boxes like the one I received and only a small piece of foam separated the top candles from the bottom. Prize Candle's website is down and emails to them come back: "Delivery to the following recipient has been delayed." and "Technical details of temporary failure: The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect." I'm not holding my breath that this will be resolved. A lovely concept poorly executed. read more

I used to order candles from this company. About a year ago I quit because the one scent I really enjoyed was no longer available. I tried a few others that were seemed like they may be close, but fell short. Many of them were too flowery and irritated my nose or the only way to smell them was to put my nose right next to it. A few times I encountered broken glass when I opened my order. Anytime I had an issue, they were really helpful and always willing to replace the broken candles at no charge, as it should be in that situation. The one I didn't fully understand was when I didn't like the scent. I purchased at my own risk, but they were willing to replace at no charge. It's a pretty safe bet they had money issues since they took everyone's money at the end of 2016 but didn't fill any of the orders. Their website is still there but says "SOLD OUT" across the page and all links are gone. The last post on their Facebook page is from December 2016 and I saw at least one person who posted about them ripping off their customers. I decided to check out the Better Business Bureau. Prize Candle's rating has been revoked and it's now an F. Unfortunately you can't see all the complaints issued. read more

I believed Christmas shopping this year sucked and now reading this disgusts me, infuriates me and upsets me all at the same time and just justifies my original feeling... I spent over $60 12/8... received a confirmation email with an order number within hours and now I'm left out of money and screwed... I'm so angry I could cry!!!! Prior to 12/9/16 they were sending out a ton of sale emails telling everyone to get them for Christmas gifts. So I ordered almost $125 worth of candles. Next thing I know all communications stops. They don't respond to emails, phones have been disconnected, comments are hidden on facebook, there is no option to message them on facebook anymore, nothing. Its like they disappeared. Even the founder and owner Nancy Lyczkowski has removed all traces of the company from her facebook, linkedin, and twitter. Its been over a week with no shipment or communication. I think they knew they were going under and ripped off a lot of people before they shut down. I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and suggest others do the same. What happened to this company? I have ordered from them in the past with no problems but I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my most recent order. I ordered four candles and three bath bombs and athey arrived in the timely manner, however, one of the candles was broken due to extremely poor packaging and three of the candles were missing boxes that the candles are supposed to come which give instructions. I like these boxes because they make the candle a better gift and then I don't have to explain to the person I'm giving the candle to what they have to do. I have called the customer service phone number several times now in the last week and it says that the number is disconnected. I have also emailed the company with pictures of the broken candle and the missing boxes explaining what happened and asking for a resolution and I have not heard back from them at all. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I don't think I will order from them again and I'm very disappointed because I have been so happy with their candles in the past. read more

These candles are poorly made and the rings are very cheap. They charged me like $25.00 per candle plus shipping and handling. I called the company over how crappy these candles and the rings are and I got the run around. They refused to give me a refund and wouldn't let me return these candles. What a huge waste of over $300 plus S&H. I now wish I would have called my credit card company and had them reversec the charges. I just now found out they closed. Rarely write reviews and I even looked up the company as it is not local to write this. I signed up for their monthly club as something neat for my girlfriend. First candle I was supposed to get, I never got.... I ordered it and there was a mistake either on their end or USPS. After trying every way possible to get it resolved the company told me once USPS says its delivered they are no longer responsible for it. After weeks of emailing back and forth they tell me to have shipments delivered to a secure location (the building it was delivered to in Chicago has 14 people living in it, all million dollar condos and has a secured entrance and mail area). So instead of assuming it's not secure and blaming neighbors for theft maybe the shipping method should be more reliable; certified or express perhaps. News flash, if a customer doesn't get their item you should try to make sure they get it. I have another idea, maybe insure the items so if they are lost you can get the money back and, wait for it, give the customer their product by replacing it with the insurance money. USPS is worthless, I'm sure it was not prize candles mistake but the fact that they don't stand behind their product or the people who deliver it on their behalf is beyond disappointing and they will never have my business again. I cancelled my monthly subscription and I'm probably going to get charged again next month and have to deal with them all over again. read more

I ordered three candles, The first one had absolutely no smell and completely melted within 8 hours. I am very disappointed with their service. If something is wrong the guarantee and response you get from Prize candle is "that's too bad". I Have tried contacting them at least 8 different times regarding my damaged product and prize candle calls it. All I always get is an automated response apologizing for the damaged product with no real person that has contacted either by phone or email. After several tries for a couple of weeks, What a huge disappointed. Oh ya, the prize was rusted and not worth 5 cents in a gumball candy machine. I got my candles I believe on time it was a while ago I don't remember now but I was trying to show someone at work and found out they are no longer selling candles the site says sold out but there is still a place to redeem codes, so since I still had a candle (well 2) that I have not got the rings form yet i destroyed the candle to get the code out. I put the code in and it told me the value was $10. That's as far as it goes I can't even redeem it. I have bought candles from Prize Candles for a couple of years now. So when I saw the sale on their FB page on 12/8/16, I didn't hesitate and ordered 4 candles. I received my candles today 12/17/16, actually a good time frame, unfortunately the packaging was horrible and the box had little bits of broken glass throughout. 3 of the candles were not in the pink boxes, just stacked in the box, which caused one to shatter. Poor! I purchased from this company for over 4 years and this last shipment, 6 candles ordered for christmas gifts were just now delivered, and damaged. Packed so poorly compared to how they used to come in individual boxes and these were just shoved into cardboard dividers with pieces of 2 inch foam on top..broken glass everywhere inside. I am not ordering any further from them because obviously something is wrong there since I have not been able to contact them in any way, and from what I have seen and read on the internet they are not communicating with anyone who has gotten bad shipments either. ZERO STARS!!!!!I ordered candles from this website on December 9th for Christmas gifts, because I had ordered from them in August and was happy with the candles I received. I got an email saying my order was confirmed and would receive an email when the candles were shipped. I never got the shipping confirmation and when I tried to email them my emails got sent back I tried to call and the 2 numbers I found were both disconnected. I finally called my bank to open a dispute. I found out that since the business was closed they will be going after the company's bank and that Visa has a policy that any business that you order from through the internet has 15 days for you to receive your merchandise, well since it has been over 15 days the bank is going to issue a refund thankfully! They told me not to worry about the charge and that it will be taken care of. I am glad to hear that. But this company totally SCREWED my Christmas now I have to find 4 gifts and I guess better late than never but the people I couldn't give the gifts to were totally let down ZERO STARS!!!!! This company is a scam. They bombarded my email with sale emails about a month before Christmas. After I bought three, I didn't receive an email about my order being shipped for over two weeks. When my order finally arrived 3 weeks later all three candles were smashed to pieces. Their email is inactivated (automatically gets returned to you), their website is now down, and the phone number doesn't work either. They definitely were trying to get rid of all of their inventory with their "sale" and clearly don't care bout sending customers damaged goods. I am just so very angry with this company! I see so many reviews with the EXACT same problem as I have had and can't believe it. I've been following this company for about a year (getting emails, promotions etc) but here comes Christmas time and what's not to like about candles! So I go ahead and I buy a couple as gifts and wait. It took about 5 days to get a confirmation email that they had shipped and then took another 2 weeks to actually receive them. So Saturday morning rolls around and the doorbell rings and my boyfriend goes to get my package and says "whatever it is, it's shattered". The candles had nothing but a few styrofoam peanuts ON TOP of the candles. What the heck is that supposed to do? And should the candles be in nice individual boxes? What a disappointment! Immediately after opening my ridiculously broken candles, I emailed them and tried to call their number. Gmail alerted me to the fact that my email was not being sent but it would keep trying for a few more days. I received an email five days later letting me know that my order was complete and I would be receiving another email with my tracking number once the order shipped. Eight days later, 12/16/16, I finally received the tracking email. I continuously tried tracking the package for the next 6 days, kept getting a message that there was no information yet on this package??? Finally 2 days after Christmas I checked again and the information said that the package was delivered by FedEx to our local post office and rejected. I have never had a problem until recently. One order even came broken and they had me send an emailed photo. I received a new candle in about a week. NOW it seems they have dropped off the face of the earth and my last order had 2 broken candles in it that were supposed to be Christmas presents. The order was also 3 weeks late :( Their website isn't working, emails are bouncing back, and the phone number is disconnected. Their facebook page is blowing up with complaints much worse like being overcharged for candles or being charged and never receiving the order at all (most of which are being deleted by Prize Candle). I guess my broken ones are annoying but not so bad in the big scheme of things. IF they get their lives and business back together I would avoid like the plague.
