They recently came to my aid when I was dealing with my neighbor's claim for damage done to our property. I was not getting satisfactory answers or action from the insurance company, so I contacted my broker at PRL. Lori graciously offered to contact the insurance agent and her manager for me, even though the claim had nothing to do with her office. The very next day I started receiving regular updates, and a short time later they sent me a check for the full amount of the bid. PRL went above and beyond their normal scope of work to help me out, and it was greatly appreciated. Horrible, horrible service. I was a client of PRL for over 17 years as I just went with the agency my parents used. I've always found that my insurance rates were higher than any of my friends despite having a clean record and liability insurance. After decades of patronage my parents realized they could get much more affordable and better coverage through another broker and they left PRL. The owner of PRL, Lori Peterson, sent my mother a scathing email condemning them for leaving. It was in very poor taste and I should've taken it as a warning sign then that Lori does not have the skills or demeanor required to be in such a position. In 2017 I purchased a new vehicle and asked PRL to add it and remove my old vehicle effective Aug. 1st. We even confirmed the changes on that day. At no point was I ever notified of any cost increases to my coverage. In October I received documentation from the insurance company, CIG, showing that the requested change had never gone through and I was still covered for a vehicle I no longer owned and not my new vehicle. I immediately contacted PRL and was told the error was on their end and it would be fixed immediately. I was still not advised of any changes to my insurance costs or any charges. In November 2017 I received an automatic withdrawal from CIG Insurance for more than twice what I usually pay. My bank recommended I stop payment as it wasn't authorized and I did. I contacted PRL to find out why I was being charged so much and was advised that they had backdated the coverage date and DUE TO THEIR ERROR, I would have to pay for the months in which I was actually not covered. I refused and I went back and forth with Lori Peterson for weeks trying to get the issue resolved. Lori Peterson never apologized for the errors her employee made and was extremely rude and demeaning to me. She continuously blamed CIG Insurance for the error although the Insurance Commissioner investigated and found CIG not at fault. I was advised by Lori that I would be sent to collections if I didn't pay and I was not given any options or explanations. Lori continuously stated that they had notified me of the cost and tried to find me something more affordable and that was an outright lie. I requested proof of her claims many times and was never given any. I was able to connect with the CEO of CIG Insurance and he helped me resolve the issue on his end with many apologies although it was no fault of his company. During this process I filed a complaint with the BBB and in the supporting documents that Lori Peterson filed in her defense she edited out dates to make it appear that her agency was not at fault. I feel like that needs to be repeated. Instead of owning up to a mistake that her agency made and quickly fixing it to keep a longtime customer, Lori Peterson FORGED DOCUMENTS. She was unable to acknowledge what was probably an honest mistake and instead went to appalling lengths to try and cover it up. I would stay far away from PRL. Any errors made by them will be up to the consumer to resolve at their own expense. read more

Emailed them for a quote on renters insurance, but they wouldn't even give me quote unless I agreed to bundle with other insurances like drivers or home (those were their examples, not mine). Since it is Portland, not everyone owns a car, and if I am inquiring about renters ins, then I probably don't own a home. Recently State Farm (boo!) notified me that because I had two claims in SEVEN YEARS of paying my homeowner's premiums, they were kicking me off their rolls. I just recently moved to Portland and needed renter's insurance. I contacted PRL because of these Yelp reviews. Alena was a dream. She got me the lowest price out of any other renter's quote I received, and asked if I also needed auto insurance in order to get a lower renter's quote. At the time she asked I thought I'd be staying with the auto insurance company I used in California, but after their quote for an Oregon policy came in astronomical, I went back to Alena and she got me an auto quote [with options] the next day at a way lower price than my other company AND was able to lower my existing renter's quote. My wife and I were new to commercial real estate and knew one thing: it would be expensive. Talking to a few agencies, we were asked few questions, quoted high numbers, and in one or two cases it seemed like they stopped returning our calls. That was ok, because we also were talking to the very helpful, thoughtful and professional people at PRL. We were buying an 8-plex and other companies looked at it only as such. I believe it was Lori or Theresa who suggested that since it was in two buildings, we could insure them separately, which saved us about $600 per year. We ended up getting new policies on our primary residence, auto and other small rental property as well. The only frustration in the whole process was finding out that we had been paying far more than we should have been for years.
