To make a long story short, we approved what was needed to fix the oil leak and the catalytic converter they said was needed. $4800 was quoted and paid when they completed the repair. About four months later we were back for the oil leak which had gotten much worse. They claimed they replaced something related to the oil filter connection. At this point we lost all confidence in their company and we went to the Honda dealership. After hearing Honda's $9,000 bid to fix, we decided to buy a new car and end this nightmare. Christian Brothers should have been honest with us and advised us to not fix this car and buy a new one. They care more for their profits than they do customers. I sat on a stool at the bar in front of the window and watched the technicians at work. CBA provides a complimentary inspection with pictures and video of the car, as well as a detailed report of the condition of the various parts of the car. Wow! The techs were thorough and their uniforms were still clean in the afternoon! Hmmm. Maybe they change if theirs are dirty? After payment for my new battery and its installation, Devin had a yummy surprise for us. Never have we had such a great experience at an automotive shop! (They also have a shop in Hampton Cove owned by the same person and an affiliated shop in Madison.) I guarantee that you will become a loyal customer - just like us!

It is anyone's privilege and prerogative to do what they wish regardless of conveyance. I consider this kind of initial treatment to be rude, very unbusiness-like and unethical. Rather than to listen to more abuse, I simply hung up. Any customer or otherwise have no responsibility to stay on the line and listen to more insults. I left and later came back to my phone to have a message transcription that said exactly: "Thank you for hanging up on us. That was real mature. We have no longer will need your business. We do not need immature people. Have a great day." SIC. He had no idea if we lost the connection, my battery failed or otherwise. But immediately went to this abusive stance. I do not recommend nor suggest doing any business with this kind of person or otherwise.

Then after shifting back to drive it would eve to go into limp home mode. These guys read the codes and and had a good talk with the computer on board. Even submitted a question if MB has seen this issue because nothing seemed obvious. They did see comm error found a blown fuse. After that they could not reproduce the problem. They logged computer codes and cleared them. Gave me the car back to see if it would act up again. For all this work they said will charge you when we know we fixed something. They said the battery was looking a little puny, but not bad ... but the alternator must be shot. Want to buy one now? My wife is as smart as she is good looking (that is to say: very very), so she hired me to take it to a mechanic. Since we only own Toyotas, we don't HAVE a mechanic - the cars just don't need 'em. But there's 150k miles on the van. Thinking we need to find a good shop for future use that isn't the competent-but-expensive dealer. So I looked at Yelp, talked to a few friends, polled a couple of other sites and decided on Larry's. Larry did some sleuthing and decided that my battery isn't quite puny, yet not quite new, either - but not time for a new one. And the alternator is FINE. Don't get me wrong - AZ is great in its place, but so glad we got a second, more learned opinion. Larry's shop cleaned the battery terminals and the throttle body and did a couple of other possibly-related things. He said all that stuff was related to remedying whatever was behind the check-engine code, but couldn't guarantee for absolute sure he'd solved the problem. He said the code isn't critical and probably not even useful for my trim level and engine, and his little tweaks likely solved the problem. But we should keep an eyebone peeled for future flashes. And since my visit, no more check engine light, even for a sec. Believe I win. $60. And peace of mind. And I got to play tug-o-war with his dog. Wins all around. Go there.

My friend was driving us back to work from lunch when a battery light appeared on her dashboard…read more Since she just replaced her battery I thought it might be her alternator so I called tire discounters to see if this was a service they offered and the guy said Yes! So as soon as we got off work we went to the place she bought her battery to get a diagnostic reading which stated "bad charging system". Luckily, we were next door to Tire Discounters so we rushed over to see if they could replace her alternator that night because she lives almost an hour from this area and didn't feel confident she'd make it home. We walk in with a new alternator and ask if they can replace it. One guy said they could replace it but it wouldnt be tonight since it was about 5:15 and they close at 6pm. We understood but felt so defeated. I asked if they thought she'd make it to Scottsboro with a bad alternator and one guy said not likely. the other guy, Jacob, said he would go check her output to see what the reading was to help gauge whether or not she should attempt the long commute. once Jacob got the reading he began looking for her alternator to see how hard it would be to get to. After he assessed everything he said he wanted to go ask the other guy a question real quick so we followed him inside. After Jacob spoke to the other guy, he came to the counter and said he was going to put the new one on and said it will be done around 6pm. Jacob went above and beyond to make sure my friend made it back home that night. He was kind, courteous, and fast. Jacob didn't have to do what he did, especially being as close to closing time as it was, but he took great care of us! GO SEE JACOB!

A week later, I sent a trusted friend to check on the car. According to my friend, Jon came out…read morevisibly agitated and said, "I'm done," claiming people needed to leave them alone and let them do their jobs. My friend attempted to deescalate the situation by changing the subject, and Jon appeared to calm down. However, a few hours later, Jon called me directly, demanding to know who my friend was. He accused him of taking photos of employees and the shop, which supposedly created an "issue." I explained that my friend was authorized by me to check on the car (which does not negate his contractual obligation to me nor pose harm to him) in my absence and that it was not illegal to take photos. Jon then claimed I was harassing them and said I could come pick up my car. By this time, my car had been in their possession for over two months. I explained that all I wanted was a working vehicle. He accused me of blackmail, claiming that Alabama is a "volunteer state" and that he was not obligated to do the work. I clarified I was not threatening legal action as a form of blackmail but rather as a last resort for them following through with their obligations--I simply wanted a resolution. He said he'd speak with Mike and call me the next day. That phone call left me shaken. I have never been treated this way by a business. I no longer feel safe going to their location alone. While there are other garages in the area, very few service foreign vehicles and accept extended warranties. Still, I will never use Ashley Garage again. Even if I have to tow my vehicle to another city or state, I will gladly do so.
