Perhaps that was my mistake to do that before he was finished as he said he would return Saturday but did not. He then said he would come the following Monday but did not. He then said he would come the following Thursday, then said he could not. He then said he would show Friday but then said he could not. He then said he would arrive the following Friday at noon, but did not. He then said he would come early Saturday, did not come and did not say why or respond. 6 month update: Carlos assured us that he could adjust the outlet to accommodate the plug for the AC unit he installed. Our unit was no longer functioning appropriately so we looked into it and realized that he did not change the outlet, but removed the ground prong and twisted another to make it fit into the existing outlet creating a fire hazard and our unit to no longer function. He did not communicate to us that he was going to alter the plug of our unit. Response to Carlos: Yes, you did. No one else has touched this AC unit. I realize the outlet has a ground, which makes the reason for the ground prong being removed even more confusing... I have our texts where I sent you a picture of the plug before it was altered and you told me over the phone that it wouldn't be a problem. read more

Our rain gutter broke in the middle of the night during a rainstorm and we needed it fixed asap as it fell into our neighbors yard. Carlos was the first to respond when I sent a Yelp request and he was willing to come out the next morning. Unfortunately we had a thunderstorm the next day so we had to postpone but he was here first thing in the next morning and was able to repair it within a few hours. At first I was hesitant to give Carlos a call since there was only 1 review here on yelp. I went over the photos and it seems he knows what he does. I gave him a call and he is well versed with the job. He was able to install the attic fan and made sure to put water proof sealant around. Another thing I like about the way he works is that he is tidy. He used rug to place his tools and ladder and he clean up his mess. I will definitely give him a call back for more work. read more

Carlos is a crook! If you are in need of an honest and trustworthy handyman, definitely run the other way. I needed a wooden fence replaced/braced after some high winds. Carlos provided an initial quote based on a conversation he had with my father-in-law. I though my father-in-law had used Carlos before, but later found out he just found him on Yelp. Wish I would have known and had a chance to read the reviews before I got involved with Carlos because I would have learned that not only is he an incapable handyman, but he's also a liar. He requested $500 upfront to start the work, which I was hesitant to pay, but my neighbor and I agreed to pay once he showed up with the materials to start the work. After several no shows, he finally showed up with 7 fence posts and started digging holes. He was working on my neighbor's side of the fence, so once my neighbor confirmed he showed up with materials I sent him a payment of $250 as agreed to. That evening I asked my neighbor how it went. He was pretty upset and said that Carlos increased his price by $600 and changed the scope of work from what we originally discussed, so he didn't pay him his half of the $500 deposit. I called Carlos and he explained the changes and why it would cost more than originally anticipated. I explained it to my neighbor and we agreed to move forward with the higher price and increased scope of work. Carlos was supposed to show up the next morning at 8am to continue working, but he didn't. After several more days in which he said he was coming and never showed I asked him to return my money and come get the materials. He said he wanted to continue the job but needed my neighbor pay him before he could come back. He was pretty responsive at that time and I thought he was committed to finishing the job, so once he committed to a date/time he was going to come back my neighbor paid him $250. It has now been almost a month since we paid Carlos a total of $500 and he has not come back and will not respond to calls or texts. We have had to hire someone else to do the job and we are now out $500. I'd spend many years in jail for the things I would like to do to Carlos, so instead I'll just make sure anyone who checks references on Yelp is aware that he's a crook. I gave him multiple chances to do the right thing before I wrote this review, but he continues to ignore me. I hope his business suffers as a result of my review. DO NOT HIRE CARLOS!!! My wife and I chose Carlos to rebuild our dilapidated Pergola. We took 4 bids before choosing Carlos. I liked that he had photos of prior patios that he had completed that looked good, and his bid was fair. He completed the job in 3-4 days. He did a fine job and he's a nice guy. I do have a criticism and that he needs to communicate better regarding the time of start--when he will come each day. His time is valuable but so is the clients time. I almost don't want to write this review because I finally found someone who goes above and beyond, great work ethic, is reliable, and charged a very fair price for such a high level of professionalism and quality of work. Which seems to be very difficult to find nowadays. My issue was that we had a roof leak a month ago during the rainy season, which is still going on as of now. We worked through our insurance, and our leak damage was found to be "normal wear and tear", so it was not covered. I called around, and searched and found that most companies charged thousands of dollars just to get up on a latter and throw a tarp on the roof where the roof was leaking BEFORE estimates of repairs start rolling in. Then, when I decided to look at handyman companies, I found that no one wanted to take the time to do a "small leak" roofing job, so we wasted a ton of time trying to find someone willing to work. We then came across PRO&Master Handyman. Carlos showed up for our appointment and offered to look and see what the problem was. He found more issues, based on pictures that the insurance company did not provide, along with his own pictures that he took and documented for us for our records. Not only did he repair all of the leaks, but he also future proofed our roof for a further 10 years (after getting our approval to do so). High degree of diligence and thoroughness of repairs and identifying other issues on my roof that I didn't know were problems until he pointed them out. The best part about all of this was that not only did we stay in our budget, but we also received additional inspection and repairs that we would not have otherwise receive from anyone else for the very fair price that he charged. I needed a few roof tiles replaced. other companies wanted to charge over $500 just to look at the job. I found Carlos through Yelp and he responded within an hour, and gave me a reasonable estimate. He had to find the same color/ type of tiles as they were old (1995 vintage) to match. After going to 3 different sources he found the correct tiles and installed as soon as he had them in hand ( just 2 days later). He also helped me repair some broken tiles on my roof and a bathroom glass ceiling leak, right before the rain came! From my chat with him during the repairs, I got to know that he's got extensive experience working on many different types of home improvement jobs prior to getting his license and starting his own business, including roof repair, electric, plumbing, pool repair, construction, landscaping. Carlos is sincere, honest, patient and professional. I am scheduling a couple other home improvement projects with him. If you are looking a capable and reliable handyman or general contractor for home improvement jobs, I strongly recommend you to contact Carlos. We also had a roof edge tile that had fallen off, he was able to take a spare tile and put it up on the roof; he also noticed one other edge tile starting to come off and put it back in place.
