We tend to come in the evenings when it's cold so we haven't had a chance to use the splash pad but the structures in the area are still available for climbing. The layout of the park gave the event room to breathe--wide open space for all the vendors, food stations, shaded seating, and even rides for the kiddos. There was a solid mix of excitement and good vibes all around. From the live music and zydeco dancing to the mountains of crawfish, this event was pure fun. Refs seem either bought or blind for sand soccer championships. Saturday was a great day, I did see…read moresome false foul calls and handball not being called, but besides that. Wasn't too bad. On the other hand, Sunday was horrible. I saw too many handball not being called. We have video evidence of 2 major calls that were false. So for the first one, one of the kids handballed and made a goal with that handball. The ref was behind him and he said it was a head hit, and even the kid himself that made the goal reenacted what he did. Ref still called the goal, that which was horrible. 2nd evidence that we have, in a separate game, a ref called out on a girl when it clearly wasn't. We have evidence that the ball flew over her head and yet the ref wanted to listen to the opposing team player saying it did hit her head. It was a very clear lie and the ref still said, "im going to listen to what the player said." They really need to either fire some people for false calls or have 2 separate and random refs be on each field. I saw way too many handballs and fouls not called for the championship games, and I just feel so bad for all the players and coaches that had to endure this. On top of this with the girls game, I watched one keeper get kicked and sand on her face and yet no foul call. But yet, for the opposing keeper, she was on the floor almost full possession but not yet, and the ref calls it before the girls even get a kick in since the ball wasn't even in full possession yet.

Nope, every rack had at least 8 waiting players. - No barriers to prevent ball-on interference between the 4 adjacent courts. - Restrooms & water located far from the courts. + Decent restrooms though. -- Unfriendly, uncourteous, unsafe ambience: - People seem irritable there. Easily pissed off. - People disrespecting the queue system, cutting ahead of others who've been waiting a long time. - I mentioned my opponent's courtesy violation and he got offended. I could cite the pickleball rulebook, but I was afraid he might hurt me afterward, so instead I fled the vicinity at the earliest safe opportunity.

We parked in the first lot that we drove by directly in front of the adorable Park Bench Cafe, which is located in the park. We walked the paved path from this location, which circled the large park. We passed the ponds with a variety of birds and turtles and took a break on the bench to bird watch. We also visited the very well maintained and beautiful Secret Garden. Bring a lunch and sit at a picnic table that you'll find sprinkled throughout the park. Be careful when walking on the grass, there was a lot of duck poop throughout. Overall, a great place to take pics, birdwatch or to go for a walk or run. There is one playground located in the park.
