Joe advised me that a smog check was $39.75 plus $8.25 for the smog check completion certificate. Joe also mentioned that no appointment was required and that it would take ten mins max to have the service completed. Everything sounded good to me so I took my truck in for a smog check. Upon my arrival, I was immediately directed to park my truck in an available bay. A very friendly and hard working employee (Sergio) approached me and requested my DMV renewal notice or the vehicle registration which I provided. I had time to sit in the waiting room and glance over friend's Yelp reviews (what could be better than reading Yelp reviews? :) Nine minutes later, Sergio walked in and announced "your truck is ready". WHAT!! Wow, I was impressed as the service was completed in record time. Sergio advised me that proof of the service was electronically sent to the DMV and that I should receive my new tags within seven to ten days. Nothing further was required from me. I was genuinely impressed and thankful for the GREAT and friendly customer service I received today. Thank you!

I chose this…read morecompany based on location and called ahead to confirm they could do more than just read basic codes. I had already done my own diagnostics and knew the car was running rich. I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.
