Long Review A lot of people look to the big home improvement stores when it comes to flooring. I have as well, twice in the past. The issues with the big home improvement stores are 1) Getting good information about products and options can vary depending on who is working that day 2) They are contracting the work out, which isn't always a bad thing but if you have problems with the product or installation, then good luck navigating the big home improvement store bureaucracy. I have experienced problem 2 in the past and it isn't fun. I selected Carpet Smart for installing hardwood floors in my house because of their great reviews on Yelp and other review sites. I also love the fact that they are a local company and it is great thing to support local companies to keep money in the community and help you local small businesses to thrive. The lady in the showroom was very knowledgeable and upfront about their products and flooring in general. They setup a free estimate, which included sending a guy out to measure the rooms. The installation guys were on time each day, were very careful about not damaging anything else in the house while they worked, and most importantly, did high quality work.

When I called to inquire the owner admitted he had misquoted the job by half. To finish what the original scope would be, I would have to come out of pocket an additional $3200. He offered me $500 off. When I asked if that was the best he could do he said "What do you want me to do, slit my wrists and jump off the roof." I would 100% stay away from this company.
