TL;DR: I will spit this review in to three parts. The first is a general review of everything…read morerelated to MSSU. The second is a review of my Computer Information Science bachelor's degree. The third is a review of my Mathematics bachelor's degree. General: I attended this school for 3.5 years and and come out of it with many thoughts: * The tuition price tag is very reasonable as I compare it to other universities. * The communication with students is very... questionable. There were times that I had to figure out that the campus was closed through the school's social media profiles. * Having a student population that is 40% commuter makes them very friendly to those that drive to school each day. Even though this is counter to my previous point. * The workout facility on campus is nice. You pay for this in your tuition every semester. Better use it. * General education courses are a hit or miss. * They have been building new things around campus ever since my first day. This is interesting to watch and eventually explore. Though, I was not able to use most of the newer things regularly. This was almost no longer going to be true if I graduated a semester late, but alas. Computer Information Science: Do not take this curriculum if you have other options... Having many classes in this department every semester made me experience the full breadth of what it had to offer. I will say there were some good times, but these are clouded by the other times that were not so good. As an example, this particular department did their own course reviews that were separate from the university ones. Throughout the semester and the whole duration I was there, I'd hear many stories about how students thought of a professor. Assuming these thoughts were conveyed on to these course reviews... nothing ever changed. Having a particular professor for three different courses, I believe, to this day, that they never changed their behavior. I would highly recommend not coming to MSSU for their CIS department. I will stop the ranting here. Mathematics: Now this department, is what gives this review that extra little star that you see. This department did a whole lot of things right and had few mistakes and/or issues. I learned more about the world and my every day life through this department than the sum of the rest of my education (see what I did there?). Not only were the courses fascinating, but the professors were also great. All of these professors demonstrated that they cared about the student more than just the entity that was sitting in their classroom. I was able to develop great relationships with most of the professors in the department and a lot of them knowing me by name. I know that everyone has their own opinion about math, but if you're someone that has even an inkling, then I would highly recommend their curriculum.

I will agree with both Jon and Rachelle's take on the school. The school is ok. I do not like how…read moreit's not a true college in the sense that it has more non-trads ("old-farts") than any school should be allowed to have. Which, as a result, I would have to conclude that is probably the biggest reason why you don't see much going on outside of school. Yet, it's still the cheapest school in MO and it is a great way to learn about other countries if you meet up with the international students. Rachelle commented on the parties which I have say that there really aren't any exciting ones. If you want to go to a real party that is close, travel up to Pitt State in Pittsburg, KS. Sure as Rachelle said you'll be surprised by what the Greeks can pull off, but in general these Greek groups at MSSU are a complete JOKE compared to the ones on other campuses. If you go to this school, I urge you to keep away from these Greek groups. It won't be what you expected. Again Rachelle is right about the RAs if you decide to live in the dorms, but then again I would assume that the RAs know that we are all grown-ups here paying our way through college. They seem to look the other way until someone causes a disturbance. This what I like. I don't need a RA drill-sergeant breathing down my neck all the time. Our sports are a dud, but when you come to school to get an education...you really care about sports? If you live in the area or are from out of state...then I would suggest that you look further into this school. If anything...we are only like 10 mins from a casino (Oklahoma 18+) and a strip club (Kansas 18+), so there is something to do on the weekends. The college experience, right?
