My wife needed to go to the bathroom and I suggested to come here to go to the bathroom. I wanted to check this casino out to see what games to play and was not planning on playing, but my wife put some money into the machine and I said okay we are playing and saw some games I never saw at other casinos. I ended up signing up for the card and got $5 dollars in free play and then if I earned 25 points, I get a $20 dollar food voucher. I do not know how the point system works, but I got 321 points. I used the voucher on red bull drinks. They have a good assortment of slot games, but I focused on bingo slot machines as I ended up getting quite some red screens. My biggest win here was $500 dollars and I did hit another $300 dollars. I wanted to stay longer, but needed to head to Ameristar. This is our second stay here. The service is great. Everyone is so nice. Also after one stay our resort offers were great. Pool was 5 foot 6 deep and really accessible. Staff was able to give us a room as per our requests. (Near elevator. And they asked us which was nice ) Room rate was a great value. (This trip was on a blackout date for holiday. We had two free room offers which would have been good any other day) Cons Valet is free for hotel but slow Beds even in an accessible room is ridiculously high. to start with the staff and housekeeping are very helpful and nice.. great casino atmosphere. however before they changed there player cards i was on the cusp of gold..they gave me ruby ,wich is only one above the lowest..you have to earn 25,000 plus points to move up. i am here almost every week ..if you dont earn those points in so many months they start you at the beginning again..making it impossible for middle class players to move up.. now they have taken away the comp free rooms,food money is gone now and you only get a small percent discount..Q-play money has gone down. these perks were the things that allowed me to come here and play more often.i am sure there are plenty of other people who feel the same way..also the machines have been tightened up as they dont pay nearly as often or as much as they used to..i realize your not always going to win.. but when your spending a thousand or better each time your there and just losing it gets old..years ago i left this casino a 5 star review. this place is always busy and there making buckets of money..can't tell you how disappointed i am with this casino now..i may be looking for a new place to go.. read more

For the cost of over $200 + fees & taxes a night W/not being able to check in till 4pm, to early check out at 11, it's definitely NOT worth it!!! IF you need a late check out cost $25 for every 30mins!! Housekeeping in resort was NOT white glove, remote was disgusting for just one example! For being a non-smoking room, there was smells of smoke everywhere, burn marks on the carpet, on one wall there was "marks" left & nails where they had taken down some wall decor!!! Went for our anniversary night out and was very disappointed. The buffet wasn't what we thought it should be for the price on a Saturday night. No steak and very little vegables. l struggled hard to give this a 3 star. The Buffett was $21+ and terrible!! I would have left hungry had it not been for salad and rolls. The desserts weren't even good. Then there's the beds...... so broke down if you get near the inside edge l swear you'd roll off. l hate paying for a good room and getting a bed that you can't even get comfortable enough in to fall asleep in. Attractive resort casino with nice and friendly staff with just one giant flaw. Each time I've been here I've been impressed with how friendly everyone is and how they take great care of the regulars. If you valet you may see the staff taking personal interest in regulars they know by name. Or helping elderly or people with handicaps with patience and professionalism. The restaurants inside are good too, the steak house is great. So the big flaw that keeps us from coming more often? The unbelievably bad smoke. Let me start by saying I'm from Las Vegas and go there often for work and family events. Most LV casinos long ago figured out how to clear the air and ensure the casinos, hallways, and restaurants stay somewhat smoke free and clean smelling. Downstream seems to hold it all in. Its visibly smoky and hard for some people to even breath at all. I feel bad for the employees who have to work in this all day. At 8:30 PM, the band just got started and the bar tenders were very rude to everyone, as the next shift called in and they had to shut the bar down. The rudeness was not necessary to the customers. Gambled here for years with VIP treatment, a reasonable weekly Qplay, promotions, and events (though, I've never been called on to win any event cash giveaway, ever!). Winnings weren't great, but for a casino it was okay. However, back in October '23 everything changed. Spent thousands and won pennies (if even that)! Their Rewards program went downhill, as well as the food at the buffet. Everyone seem to get the short end of the stick. The reward amount went down. People had to pay cash $ directly to get any kind of discount, including Veterans. There are now stricter rules on how the rewards are to be used. I don't ever leave bad reviews but I was so incensed today after being ripped off at this casino. After a long drive from Chicago, I stopped off at Downstream for a little R&R and possibly an overnight stay at the resort hotel. Sadly once I experienced the following scam they run on unsuspecting travelers I opted to push on to Tulsa. Sitting down at a table to play a few hands I was informed that it would cost a .50 cent surcharge to buy into $200 in chips. Fine, I can live with that. Upon playing a hand I was then informed that I was misinformed, and it was in fact a .50 cent surcharge for EVERY HAND I played at the table. LITERALLY HIGHWAY ROBBERY! Or in this case interstate robbery. This greed is unparalleled and something I have NEVER experienced at any other casino. It's not enough that they already have a license to steal your money legally but they also charge you a .50 cent PER HAND surcharge if you do not have a casino player's card. I didn't bother to ask how much that would cost me. The casino and the surrounding resort seem nice enough but why must they nickel and dime every tourist and player to finance their greed during a pandemic no less! It seems too many people want a little piece of your ass. Downstream wants a piece of you every single hand. It shakes my faith in humanity. Greed will ultimately kill you. On vacation, my sister really wanted to hit up Downstream, so I dug deep. First impressions about this place - it's not horrifically smokey. It's clean and very well maintained. We were there on a week night, so not busy at all. We played various slots and had a few drinks. The waitresses never came around - - there weren't that many of them and maybe we didn't look like high enough rollers. No worries, I can walk to the bar and tip the bartender! Drinks are priced reasonably and just for signing up for the Downstream card - you get $10 toward a food purchase. I would go back, but I wouldn't kill myself to get there. I am staying here on business and was shocked to find something this large in a small town near Jolin, MO. When Id rove up to it I was shocked at all there was in one small area. I had to go to the gas station and that alone was one of the nicest ones I had been to. This had only raised my expectations for the casino and hotel I was about to arrive to. At first I was confused on where the hotel was and parking, but once I managed to get it together it became a very pleasant experience. The hotel itself is a very nice and clean place which is always a good sign. The staff was really friendly and I got checked in and to my room in little to no time. Positives- there was free valet parking for guests, retaurants within the hotel, and the room was one of the most spacious ones I had been in. The bathroom was definitely different and loved it. Negatives- I got in a little late and wanted to order room service, but when I looked at the menu the chouces were limited and nothing special/ appealing to eat. Also, being from states that smoking is not allowed inside it was something nor typical for me to see. There were guests from both the hotel and casino smoking in the lobby as well as around the area. I couldn't get away with it and did not find it appealing one bit. Overall I was very pleased with what I was expecting from this casino and actually am thinking about making a personal trip back there with some friends. The casino is dark and extremely smoky. The machines do seem to have a decent pay back though. The hotel rooms are just okay. They have several options for food. I'm a bit sad that they took out a bunch of modern games such as ElectroMax, Fortune Rooster, Griffins Throne, Cleopatra 2, and some others and now have a million HexBreaker cabinets... It was better when they had a wide variety of modern games. It is large casino and it's always busy. It is not my favorite casino but it's not terrible. Time to update my review! I've stayed and played here many times. Valet is super. The Nee spa is top notch (check my review on it). The free live entertainment is always good with numerous machines around to play and listen to music. Forget eating anywhere but the Redoak Steakhouse. Yes more pricey but so worth it. I've never had a bad steak. It's quiet and smoke free. And can be intimate for special occasions. Plus a discount with your players card. Came here a while ago with my wife for a night away. We thought we would get down there and get a room for the night. Well the front desk said, with little care, "we are booked for the night and no rooms are available for you." The lady that said that then proceeded to look past me to the person behind me and ask if she can help them, Letting me know I was nobody and that she was done talking to me. Thought to ask about a room waiting list, but I didn't, thinking that it wasn't my job to suggest a simple customer service solution. I can accept you are booked, but not the ugly response that followed. We booked a room then and there down the road at Buffalo Run. Not five minutes after I receive my confirmation email from Buffalo Run for my room, the same lady that didn't want to help me, got on the intercom and said there were rooms now available for the night, for only x-dollars!!! I was pretty pissed at that point. Wife and I played a few machines and then left and made our way to Buffalo Run. Where we got our room and then played until late in the night. Seemed like a nice place, hence the extra star, but zero decent customer service left a bad taste in our mouths to ever return here again. read more

Possibly one of the worst stays I have ever had anywhere. The staff, and I do mean all of the staff, was seemingly unwilling to help at any point during our stay. Any person we spoke to was either rude, unaccommodating, or flat out apathetic. For the price you have to pay to stay there, it was very unsatisfactory. The buffet restaurant in the morning turned us away twice, the first time that they are only open for breakfast until 10:30am and in the rooms and at the front desk of the hotel, it says 11:00am. The second time was at 10:00am and they could not admit anymore parties in the restaurant because they were short staffed, the entire half of the dining room was empty. To also add another layer of incompetence, the elevators in the tower we stayed at in the hotel continuously broke down, one completely non-operational the entire stay (there were only two). I don't mind taking the stairs HOWEVER, there is no stair going to the lobby which literally left my party stranded on our hotel floor - this cause my 70 year old aunt to have to go down to the bottom floor near the pool and walk uphill through the grass, over bushes, to get to the lobby to then go to dinner, causing us to miss a reservation. The staff was completely unapologetic for this, the security manager was even rude about it. AWFUL, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

The payouts have gotten a lot better over the last few years and they have a whole bunch of new games. The best times to come and play are on Fridays from 2-4 pm and Saturday nights around 8. It's usually rocking in this place and the winner bells are going off left and right. I would give them 5 stars but can't because they took their Tuesday night Seafood buffet away! Downstream had it going on Tuesday nights and the crab legs were delicious! Your server would personally bring them to your table and they were really good in providing refills. However, they still offer crab legs during lunch or dinner as an add on for $10 a pound and half price on Wednesday's I think. I overheard a fellow truck driver inquire about them getting rid of Seafood night and they said it was too expensive?? Yeah ok, lol. This place brings in millions on Friday and Saturday alone yet crab leg Tuesday was too expensive. Interesting..Anyway, there is also plenty of truck AND RV parking with hook ups provided. I'm not sure how much it is per day for that but that area is always packed with really nice RV's and campers. We have never stayed at the hotel but we have looked at their rooms and they are super nice. Spacious king suites and the pool is beautiful. We stayed at the RV park at Downstream. It was very clean and the shuttle bus picked us up when we called and took us right back to our RV spot after we finished playing for the night. They let us stay 2 nights free with a red card. Which anyone can get at the casino. read more
