Horrible costumer service. They kept asking my daughter personal personal questions and that overwhelmed her and she was about to cry and they pointed that out. Not to mention that they were also talking about how she looked compared to her sister and there was a whole group of nail techs watching her , around five of them which was also really overwhelming. please don't ever go there or take your child there and if you do , use your 5th amendment. read more

I used to be a regular here, but then stopped going after I learned the owner is extremely fatphobic. My friend and I were getting pedicures done here, and he was trying to make conversation with us by asking about our jobs. My friend said she massages at a spa and he asked her multiple times if she likes giving massages to "fat people". She said she doesn't mind, and it doesn't bother her, and loves giving massages to people of all body types. He then said he doesn't like when "fat people" come to this nail salon because they are lazy and ugly. And then he proceeded to ask her multiple times if she thinks fat people are lazy and ugly, which she said no to again and again. I was shocked by how blatantly rude he was saying this out in open, and to her, and kept going on and on, and would not drop this topic even though she was clearly uncomfortable. Look at a person's hands and you can tell a lot about what they might have been doing on any day -- the hands in conjunction with the eyes assist in opening the gateway to ones soul. Tomorrow I have an appointment at this shop which is a change for me during this COVID period. There are several reasons for the change: Very few places are implementing CDC's guidelines, too many patrons coming in all at once, poor ventilation systems or if they have a system it is not being utilized, sanitizing stations and instruments between clients at a minimum, and perhaps the most important is customer service. Having taught numerous students from a wide variety of backgrounds -- I understand some of the words which is the best kept secret in evaluating how one is treated as each dally their spoken word around customers--interesting conversations. As I get the full treatment of dipping and my relaxing shellac pedicure -- I'll report back with words unaltered -- in support of small businesses in the Des Moines Area. For now, the rating stands at average based on the current evaluations which could go up or down depending on the quality of service---so hang tight--I am back for the final wrap up. I am one that do not believe all evaluations, but feel most have merit because individuals took the time. The rating went down because it took four individuals to complete my process due to poor scheduling where others had clients that interrupted the process. I felt like a practice session model. I also felt like since I was not a regular no one cared about the vibe that was exhibited. That's not to say my nails did not look great because each one give it their best. The cleanliness was marginal and sanitation during COVID was average no gloves as each handled my hands which was scary. Yet, if you are a regular and enjoy the environment be safe during pandemic times, but I ask they step up their CDC recommended procedures. read more

We've gone to few different nail salons in West Des Moines, and hands down Pro Nails is the best so far! I got a pedicure and my daughter got a full set of acrylics done. The staff was friendly and detailed in the services they provided. The pedicure massage was firm and consistent (I've had others that were horrible - the massage was too soft or the time spent on each leg was off, etc). They were also less expensive then the other salons we had been to. This may become our new nail spot! read more

To start with, I want to say that my nails were a MESS when I came in. They always are because of the way I work with my hands everyday in a salon/spa setting. It's important to me that my nails look good for when I am working on guests, but it's hard to keep them that way! I stopped into Pro Nails on a whim and out of desperation because my nails were cracking, rigid, dry, busted up cuticles, chipped polish... everything. And to put it into perspective, I just got a manicure 5 days prior! I had to wait a few minutes for a nail tech (Megan? I think!), but while I was waiting, someone else got me to a station, took off my old polish, and put my hands in the bowl to soak. Once my nail tech was finished with her other service, she worked extra hard to make my nails better than what a typical "natural manicure" service would include by getting out the electric buffer and spending nearly an hour to make it all perfect. She even gave a stellar shoulder rub while my nails were drying. I was a little shocked that my total was $15.90. Anyway, I just wanted to brag about her a little bit. She provided an extra good service for a small price. I will always compensate with gratuity especially well when someone treats a small-dollar service like it's the most important thing going on, and I'll remember it and be back EVERY week when $30-45 services will only be back every 3-4 weeks because they got longer-lasting treatments. I gave 4 stars only because the space was cluttered and messy and some weird old western was on the tv. If the space was more client-centered, it would be 5 stars! :) read more

I had recently got my nails done at another salon here and was not happy with the way they did the dip service, thien here at pro nails did a great job at preserving what was left taking off the old color and putting on new while making corrections to everything I disliked from the previous. I also was very delighted that I also got a complimentary neck and shoulder massage with my service and got an amazing cat eye specialty color done as well I will definitely be returning and I'm so glad I found a salon here in West Des Moines! read more

No stars!!!I went to Pro Nails to see if they could apply one press on. I broke a nail. I explained that my nails are real and it took me forever to grow them out the same length. I didn't want my nail sanded down just want a glued nail for my upcoming event. They were beyond RUDE not only did they tell me to go to sally's they didn't offer to paint my nails. CRS crappy, rude, service..... If I could I'd load them and ship them back to the rude planet they came from. I wouldn't go back if they offered to do my nails for free! read more

I had a pedicure - it was very painful - Not a very good experience at all.........she asked me if I was OK and did it hurt (almost drawing blood would be your first sign) The chair next to me had a bug crawling on it - I thought it looked like a cockroach - but wasn't sure - I asked the girl what type of bug that was....she said they have problem because of Chinese restaurant next door - I kept watching it crawl around - and its quick movements afraid it would go into my handbag on the floor -- when I got home, I checked Google and that bug looked just like the American Cockroach --- read more

the first clue is if the nail implements are sterile. mine were taken from a drawer. So, NO. I debated leaving and i should have. Where are the state regulators and salon licensing regarding health issues? Not in Iowa. I decided against a shellac and got a plain manicure to get the heck out of this salon. NO stars!!!! WORST pedicure EVER!!!! First of all, I took in my own color and she kept it. Then she cut my foot, forgot to put a second coat on my right foot until I told her to. Then, she "massaged" me so hard with her fists that I have red bruises on both my legs. She never told me her name and NEVER said a word to me.She kept yakking to other gals in the salon in Vietnamese. I don't mind that, but PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE DOING WHILE TALKING TO YOUR CO-WORKERS!!!!! Then she never told me to go to the drying station, I sat in the pedicure chair for half an hour to dry. She never came back to ask me how I was doing or anything. Worst pedicure I have had in a long time. Just moved to the area and tried it because they have good prices and the place looks clean. The girl didn't even hardly scrub my feet. All the calluses were left. No trimming of my toenails. And then I was left alone for my nails to dry with no flip flops for about 20 mins. I called out for help (asking for flip flops) about 5 times and they were either working on another customer or distracted playing on their handhelds. One of them paused her device and gave me a mean look and told something in vietnamese to another girl who decided to help me. Plus when I was charged and I asked for change, the girl only gave me $5 bills. I am always a fair tipper, but this time I was going to tip maybe 15% because I wasn't satisfied, but I was forced to tip 20% because she only gave me $5 bills. If you have worked in the service industry you know that when customers ask for change, you also include $1 bills. I felt like it was a smart move. And I don't have the heart to walk away without tipping, but I will never go back again. Pro Nails, the only thing "pro" there is the name. read more
