Great communications and service. I had a super simple move from living room to bedroom...about 30 ft apart. I contacted 3 companies for quotes... I gave each company the necessary info (location, has elevator, 2nd floor, no weird angles, etc.). They were the only one who replied promptly, and didn't ask me a bunch of stupid questions so they can give me a "more accurate quote". I've moved pianos about 10 times so I appreciate them giving me a straight quote without any fuss. The move went smoothly and quickly. Would definitely use them again! read more

This was a small job but it was challenging (figuring whether to hoist a couch up my balcony or get it in through the hallway). Stop shopping. Don't even waste your time comparison shopping. These are your guys! I was referred to them by friends who have used them twice before to move their baby grand and were very satisfied with their service. So I bought my daughter a beautiful small upright piano from an estate sale however when I called to schedule the move, the lady running the estate sale insisted it had to be moved THAT DAY. She said she wasn't willing to come back to the home to let piano movers in. As Billy is explaining to me on the phone that moving has to be scheduled (duh!) he could hear her shouting at me through the phone and I think he understood instantly the predicament I was in. I had found a good deal on a quality instrument for my daughter who is a hardworking piano student and because this crazy lady thinks piano movers are just sitting by the phones, not moving pianos, I was going to have to walk away from what I knew was the perfect instrument for her. That's when Billy put on his Superman cape and saved the day! He called his guys and convinced them to squeeze me in! If he had been there in person I would have hugged him! The guys showed up right when they said they would and were incredibly professional and efficient. Even when that nasty woman had the audacity to ask them how much they were charging me, they handled it gracefully. They were sweet and kind and so so careful with our new-to-us piano. Overall I was satisfied by Pro Piano Move. They picked the piano up on time and were in and out very efficiently. Likewise, drop off went very smoothly. We weren't able to be home for delivery but left instructions for where we wanted the piano to go, and they placed it perfectly. The only negative feedback I have is that we expected them to drop the piano off on the same day as pickup, and they did not communicate with us that they would not be able to (as far as I know). They stored the piano overnight, but we had no idea when they would drop off the next day until they called with just an hour or so of notice. It would have been preferable for them to call the day they picked up the piano to let us know of the delay so that we could arrange to be home, even though everything worked out fine in the end. read more

I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism with this company. From the beginning of the move, I heard complaints that it was more difficult than they expected. Twice during the move, they increased the price above their "quoted price" because they believed it was more difficult than had been represented. I apparently misstated the number of turns they needed to make by 1. But there's more. They did not place the piano where we asked because they said they were "behind schedule." When I contacted the owner to complain about this all I heard was that it was the owner's son who made the move and he would never do that. But there's more. They did not reinstall the pedals in a functioning position and they left several keys ringing when they are struck, as if they are sustaining, even though no pedal is depressed. I have had others move my piano's in the past and I regret giving this company a chance. Their "sweet" looking website is simply deceptively inviting. read more

It was easy to schedule and the lady over the phone was very nice. Reason for the missing star: On the day of delivery I called 15 minutes prior to the end of 2 window they gave me and they were behind in schedule. Ok. That's understandable but I think the truck driver should have called me instead of me following up. They were 20 minutes late. Then the truck stopped and the guy signed me to wait and he was on the phone. Then he said "Here is the deal. We delivered your piano to a school. I need to go back and bring it. That's the best I can do." I was quite angry with the whole attitude of "Tough luck." (Maybe if it started with "We are very sorry we had a mix up... Unfortunately..."etc things would have been a little different) When I asked him how long it will take he told me how far the school is (as if waiting for me to do the math!) I asked him to call me before he heads back. I called the main line to talk about this and they were very understand and were very nice (Angela is her name). At the end of the day they made it right which I appreciate. She actually sounded like she understands how inconvenient it would be to take time of from work and then go to meet the delivery guy at the house to be told that your piano is somewhere else. I was able to take more time of and go back to the house but if I couldn't it would have been terrible. Will I use them again? Although I was fuming initially, probably yes I would use them again. This must have been some freak accident. Can't imagine it happening very often and I don't see other comments about wrong piano delivery. And they did try to make it right. Pro Piano Move is by far the best piano moving company in Seattle if not the entire northwest. I personally witnessed Helge Karlsen (owner) move a baby grand piano up townhouse stairs (with the 180 degree turn) to the top floor after two other moving companies refused to do it or couldn't do it. This outfit has years and years of experience moving pianos and it shows. The company is bonded and licensed. And they are friendly and easy to work with. What a disaster. We paid them $400+ to move our 100+ year old Steinway from the house to the truck (about 50 feet and no stairs), and I had to talk them into actually loading it onto the moving truck and securing it there. They wanted my furniture movers to do it, but I insisted that's what I was paying them for. Then when it came for the piano movers on the other side to unload it (who were half the cost and spent 3x the time) they showed us the damage before they would touch it. The wrong kind of straps, not enough padding, and poorly secured. Rub marks on the edge and a big scratch right across the top! I reached out to the owners to give them an opportunity to make it right... and nothing but denial. First it was my fault for having the wrong straps (but wait, you asked to use my straps; why wouldn't you provide your own or tell me if mine were sub-standard?). Then it was my thin quality uhual blankets that were at fault (okay, but I had literally dozens of blankets, and you chose to use only a few). Then it was my furniture movers fault (except my furniture movers didn't touch the piano, else why did I pay you $400?). I had to pull their arm just to look at the photos of the damage. Here is the insane email correspondence (copy and pasted) that followed: FROM ME: I assume you saw the photos I sent last week? I have a cabinet guy looking at the repairs. I can let you know what his bid, and you are welcome to talk/work with him directly. I say that because you mentioned you thought I may be just looking for a way to make a couple hundred dollars, which I assure you is not the case. I'm fine splitting the cost with you and you could pay him directly to be assured I'm doing the work? These are some initial ideas I have. I'm open to hear yours. FROM THEM: Based on the photos you sent us, the scratches indicate that they were created while the piano was being handled by a mover, NOT during the transport in the trucks as that would indicate a (rub mark) we at the loading end of the job did not have any problems and did not scratch the pianos. So the damage must of happen while you're movers unloaded and delivered. FROM ME: Are you not seeing the rub marks? That's what I was sending you. Look at the edge. FROM THEM: We guarantee our work only when we use our standard piano moving equipment. Not thin U-haul blankets home made piano boards and narrow straps. Like I said, the piano was packed up and moved into the truck placed exactly where your movers wanted it with no problems. How they secured it? And moved it at the delivery I don't know ? We set it in the truck and they should have added additional padding against the wall before securing it.  I think I recommended that to them as I was leaving. This is something that happened after we turned over responsibilities to your main movers and inferior equipment provided to us. FROM ME: One last question. Are you saying that you didn't strap it or wrap or secure it into place? That my movers secured it? Just want to be sure I understand your position. FROM THEM: Charles, A perfect job requires really good equipment, You know I'm not 100% sure if I tied it. If I did it would have been 100% padded against damage! I assure you, they took the piano apart, padded it, strapped it, brought it on to the truck (after some arm pulling) and secured it to the runners on the inside of the truck. They did it all in 30 minutes, but they indeed did it all, INCLUDING the damage. I'm not writing this lengthy review because I wasted $400. I'm writing this because I consider myself lucky that the damage was only one large scratch and rub marks across the whole edge. If these guys had dropped it, or destroyed the soundboard, the damage could have been 20-30K and you can be assured, they would try to tell you it wasn't their fault. Buyer beware! If you care about your piano, look elsewhere. read more

First of all, Movers called from shoreline and told that they would be on pick-up site in 20min. they showed up on time. two movers did a great job moving piano and went extra miles to move a couple other stuffs. The pick-up and drop-off sites were close, so it took only 1 hour 5min from the heads-up phone call to billing. When I got a quote, I was told that it would be hourly and pro-rated by 15min. it was estimated for two hours roughly. Now I was billed for two hours regardless of the actual. Even I talked with the same person who gave me an estimation, I got the same answer: 2 hours. I didn't mean to stall them, so I paid them so that could continue their business. but I am not happy. This may not be an issue for this vendor only. Maybe WA state law may not be not specific enough to cultivate the good business experience. WA state law legislative should examine it and take administrative or legislative action as may be appropriate. read more

Although extremely busy already, Pro Piano Move fit us in and did a great job. We have a heavy antique upright that came up a skinny flight of stairs without touching even the railing. Recommended to us by our piano tuner, and I'm so glad we called! Spoke to them Wednesday morning and had the piano delivered to our home the next day - they were already coming to our area and squeezed us in! In addition to offering the quickest delivery, they had the best price. They were super nice about us watching the whole process (getting a baby grand is VERY exciting!) They did an excellent job navigating the outdoor terrain and it arrived without a scratch. Pro Piano moved our grand piano from our home to a low-income senior citizens apartment in our community and did an outstanding job in maneuvering it out of a narrow door in our home to their truck, having it wrapped appropriately to keep the rain/drizzle from getting it wet. The piano is 100 years old, and they were extremely careful, answered our many questions, showed us some interesting things about the construction of the piano, and took extra care in removing and wrapping the legs. In setting it back up in the apartment building, they were, again, very careful and went over with us and the manager on the care the piano would take in this new setting. These guys did a wonderful job of getting the Yamaha Baby Grand Disklavier Piano up a steep flight of stairs -- quickly! I only wish my husband had NOT insisted that we use the movers that came with the moving van hauling everything else we owned. The regular movers dropped the piano damaging the innards seriously and never did get it up the flight of stairs. Save yourself a $$ headache and use these guys. Superb to work with! Calling and scheduling the piano move from Port Orchard to Seattle was quick and easy over the phone. The movers were courteous and very quick -- clearly versed at moving pianos. They had to navigate a lot of stairs and had to turn a corner on the stairs that I didn't anticipate. While normally that would have resulted in an increased cost, they didn't charge me for it. I have a Yamaha U1. Vincent from Pro Piano Move did an outstanding job moving it from my house to my friend's house. He was extremely careful, gentle, and very experienced that he knew exactly what to do and what to watch out for at every single moment. He coordinated and communicated very well with his partner, so even his partner might not be as experienced as he is, the job was done perfectly! He was also respectful and cheerful! It was more than just a pleasant and successful move. 3 months later, I needed to move it to my new house. Due to multiple delays of the new construction, we had to reschedule the move over and over and over again. The scheduling staff, Jessica, was so patient with us and very accommodating. I only wanted to have Vincent move my piano again, and my wish was granted, which is one of the best things that has happened to this whole moving ordeal. With super high expectation this time, Vincent still amazed me again! This time there're stairs that were too steep for a ramp, so Vincent and his partner had to carry 500+ lbs up the stairs one step at a time. The door was so narrow that the piano could barely make it through. Throughout the whole process, Vincent had sufficient protection for the piano and surrounding. With his experience and extreme care, nothing was damaged, not even a scratch regardless of the narrow spaces here and there. Actually, the piano didn't touch anything unintentionally. In the end, he made sure that the piano was positioned just exactly the way I wanted It, even I was being very picky. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than Vincent, it's impossible to surpass him at moving a piano. I'll never want to have anyone else move my piano. Thank you, Vincent! I used Pro Piano Move to lift a 7 foot Yamaha grand out of my living room so a new rug could be placed and then back in after it was installed. This required putting it up on it's side and taking off the legs. I have moved this piano many times over the years and these guys are by far the best movers that I've had and I felt confident and relaxed the entire time. They not only took great care of my piano, but they were on time, polite, and were really careful with the brand new white rug that was going under the piano and made sure they moved things in such a way that there would be no marks left behind. Excellent job and would not only highly recommend, but will not use any other mover myself for future piano moves. Great work!! read more

These guys did a good job except for one major issue: They quoted my male friend significantly less for the same job not once, but twice. My friend's piano was being stored at my house. When he called them about taking it to the dump, they quoted him $150 for the move and $30 for the dump fee. When I called (I didn't know my friend had already called), they said $215 for the move and $40 for the dump fee. My friend called to confirm his price the day of and it was confirmed (they must not have figured out we were the same job). When Pro Piano Move arrived at my house they said the price was $255 (the price quoted me). In the end, we paid the $180, but I wouldn't trust them. read more

These folks did a great job moving my Steinway A grand for me. However I had an issue with their arcane pricing structure which I feel was misleading. I initially called Helgi to inquire about price and short term availability. I was told that for the locations involved it would be $120 an hour and it usually takes about 2 hours so the max would be $240. Subsequently I called to book the move and noted that there was no bench, but a spider trolley. Helgi said: well, the trolley can cause a lot of problems, it can take longer and be harder. He said it might be as much as 2.5 hours. I also called J and J piano movers and they said the price is set by the state transportation board and is $118 for the first hour and $29 for each subsequent quarter hour. Plus an allowance for travel time. Their estimate for the same job was between $148 and $176. So to get to the point, the piano was moved well and carefully by Ben and Arthur and the total time including pickup, driving and setting up the piano in the new location was about 70 minutes. They presented me with an invoice for $270 and said they never charge less than $240 for a grand. I called up Helgi and said you gave me an estimate of max $240 and these guys are asking for $270. and it only took 1.25 hours. He said that the dolly made it cost more. I said the dolly actually was not a problem. He said do you want to punish the movers for being efficient? I said no, but an estimate is an estimate. It has to be adjusted for less or more when the job is done. He said but there is travel time to and from the job. I said even if you add 20 minutes each way it is still less than two hours. He was frustrated with me, and said the movers will decide what is fair. In conclusion I feel he needs to be clear about his mode of pricing. If you say it is by the hour, then it is by the hour. If it is a bid, then the time doesn't matter. It is not fair to say by the hour and then in his mind convert that to a bid structure with hours for units. In the end, I told Ben to keep the 270 and to his credit, he said if you feel ripped off, just give me $240. which i did. They did a good job and it is too bad that the pricing structure mode was confusing. The way Helgi looks at it, you can get paid for twenty hours in a ten hour day. This is not fair. Despite that, the moving job was first rate. I hope they can clarify the rate so no further confusion will result for future customers. read more

I purchased a Kawai upright through a private party, called them on a Saturday morning and the piano was moved and in my home by the afternoon. Totally professional, quick, and no issues. While my pianos arrived safely, it was not without trouble and problematic communication. I have used other piano movers in the past who I was VERY happy with, and charged half the price as Pro Piano Move (they just were not available in my timeline this time around). Initially, I called and they agreed to do the move, but requested I send an email with further details... that they would then contact me to coordinate. I waited two days, and had to call them back to find out they just had not yet responded. The day of the scheduled move, they called 15 minutes before the end of the agreed service window to inform me they could not do it. I had to reschedule to another day, and was told I would be given a specific discount. They did show up as expected this time, but hardly said a word to me, moved furniture/items without consulting me... and when all was said/done, they charged me more than the agreed upon discounted price, and refused to verbally negotiate on site. I am glad my pianos are safe and placed well, but customer service and fare rates are lacking with this company. Whilst the piano movers themselves were professional, courteous and safely moved our piano, the company's communication with us was dreadful. They gave the driver the wrong contact phone number and starting address, which meant that they kept on calling my husband (at work) and went to the wrong place completely. This was despite the fact that i had both emailed and called them again that morning with the correct information to prevent this from happening. Final straw was when the piano arrived at our house and the movers discovered that they had 2 flights of stairs to negotiate and charged us more! Whilst I don't mind paying, I was frustrated because the communication had been so poor that I hadn't been asked this question. I would give this company 5-stars for their actual handling of my piano. They were careful and professional in person, and I'm real happy with that aspect of the service. Communication was the problem with Pro Piano Move. I had to arrange the pickup of the piano from the sellers house in Sammamish, to be delivered to my house in West Seattle. Billy of Pro Piano Move told me that his team would could only be there between 11am and 1pm on a certain day so I arranged for the seller to be home at that time, and he was. The team didn't show up until 1:30pm, and so the seller was forced to leave his house open to the team, and leave. Because it would be easier for the team to take the piano out through his garage, he left the garage door opener on top of the piano bench with a note letting the team know they can open and close the garage when they load the piano out. Seller later called me asking if I knew where the team left the opener. I called Billy and he said the team never touched the opener, didn't use the garage route at all, and didn't have it. When the seller told me the next day that his opener was still missing, I again called and spoke with the team lead who said that his team had in fact taken the opener with them, and would return it to the seller. Days went by and finally the seller had to leave town for several weeks. I called Pro Piano Move again and asked them why the opener is still with them. They said they wanted to return it, but since the seller is away, it would now have to be delivered to me and I would have to take it to Sammamish to return it myself. It's now been another week since they said they would bring the remote back to me and I hear nothing from them. I'm currently hunting someone from the company down so that I can plead with them to return the opener to me so I can drive it to Sammamish so the seller isn't in the awkward position of having a stranger in possession of his garage door opener while he is out of town. This company seems very good at moving pianos, but when it comes to following up, attention to detail, and generally communicating, it's been a really poor experience costing me lots of extra time, and will be an extra trip for me to return should have never left the house in the first place. read more
