I like to do business with local merchants and I tried with this place -twice- I don't know how this store stays in business. A bunch of cranky old dudes (my age) who behave like they're doing you a huge favor while adding ZERO value. Couldn't wait to get me off the phone on a Saturday afternoon during the off season. I live 15 minutes away and had a question before I drove over there and paid for parking. Did you enjoy being dismissive? I have a solution, cranky old dudes: B&H. That's where I bought both of my Leicas (M10 and later a CL) and five lenses when you were rude and blew me off the first time (when the M10 was new). Pro Shop For Photographers - Photography Stores & Services Near Me - West Palm Beach, Florida

Thanks to the dedicated Leica boutique, this is certainly the most beautiful camera store you will ever visit. The Leica part looks like a museum. However, unlike the Leica Store Miami (see review), this store sells and does business with a wide range of brands, including Nikon and Canon. I purchased my Nikon D5 camera from them and had a very good sales experience. I bought my D5 on April 4, 2016, shortly after introduction, when they got one in stock. I paid full retail price, because that's what happens when you buy a camera that close to introduction day, just as a new model car is most expensive when it's first introduced. I have gotten a lot of joy out of my D5 and have no regrets. They have a very nice used section with very fair prices. In fact, their price of $495 for the ancient, creaky old 80-400 Nikon lens beat B&H's used department by quite a bit. They let me check the lens and it was in perfect condition. Since it was so cheap, I purchased it with the D5, and other than the notoriously sluggish autofocus, it's been perfect. So I would highly recommend their used department; if there's something there (you can check the web site's Specials page) and you want it, don't be afraid to wander by and give it a try. By the way, as of this writing they still have their second 80-400 for $550. Definitely worth a try if you like to shoot birds while they are not moving :). Some have complained about somewhat aloof service. If you want the attention of a salesperson, you need to approach him, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that. A lot of people, like me, like to wander around and look before they buy, and the salespeople are obviously well attuned to that behavior. So why don't they get a better rating? Because for their Leica store, the Leica Store Miami crushes them for service. For those who are not familiar with the brand, Leica makes extremely costly, German-made equipment that is beautifully designed and engineered. Attitudes towards them vary dramatically. One group says that they are glorious photographic instruments, often used by the very best photographers. Another group says they are overpriced to the extent of being the laughingstock of the industry. It's tough to value something that is essentially hand-made, to absurdly high build quality standards, in an industry where most cameras are designed to be as cheap as possible. The Leica Boutique area was obviously an enormous investment on the part of the store. It's lovely. If you are, like me, intrigued by the brand but not quite sold thanks to the fabulous pricing on offer, you'll enjoy checking it out. Note in this case fabulous pricing means hard to believe, extreme. You will find no bargains or sales here. However, they are dramatically different from the Leica Store Miami in how they treat customers who want to try their equipment. I have asked them to let me take a look at cameras a few times. They take the camera carefully out of its little pocket, hand it to me gently, as though it is a bomb about to go off, and invite me to play with it. While I do so, they implore me not to press the shutter release, and stare at me as though I was about to rush out of the store and steal the poor thing. This happened with the $3,300 X-U, the $3,500 T and the $12,500 SL. I was just starting to enjoy my time with the cameras when they snatched them away. As a result, they lost the sale of the $3,500 X-U and the $4,250 Q, which have gone to the Miami store. In one sense I cannot blame them for this, but in another sense there is no question that the Leica Store Miami, which freely allows you to handle the cameras, take pictures and even leave the store with an employee in tow, is just a so much better experience. The salespeople themselves are nice and knowledgeable. I don't think they are significantly different in experience than the Leica Store Miami; the latter store simply has much more customer friendly policies. However, I would say Pro Shop employees as a whole are just a shade gruff and aloof, no nonsense people who don't tolerate people wasting their time. Compared to the warm and friendly atmosphere at Leica Store Miami, it's hard to recommend them as a Leica dealer. So this is a perfectly fine place and they have plenty of cool photographic goodies on offer. But if you want the best Leica experience, the Leica Store Miami is well worth the drive down to Coral Gables. Even with the horrific traffic experience! (Parking in the nearby city garage is $1 for the first two hours, $1 for each additional hour. There is, alas, no validation.) read more

This shop is Awesome. Steve and Mike, both, offer a wealth of information and are always ready and willing to answer questions. More than a couple of times when I have been in a pickle, while on a job as a real estate photographer and my equipment was not working as it should, they have calmly and politely helped me to troubleshoot and find a resolution. I am highly impressed with their customer service. Product selection and supply is top-notch, as well. Don't go shopping here while you're hungry. You'll want to buy everything in the shop. I won't buy from any other store. AND as an added bonus, if you're looking to learn more about photography, 10% of the cost of every purchase can be applied toward instructional classes at The Palm Beach Photographic Center, located one floor up! I bought the Leica T Camera from the Pro Shop and when they came out with the new upgrade version 1.4 I had problems download it at home. I called them for there help they would not help over the phone. I asked if I came in if they could do it for me. They responded no we don't do that. I called the Leica Store in Miami they said come in and we will take care of it for you. This is what you expect from Leica can't believe this place even carries a bring like Leica with they dispicable customer service. read more

Walked in when two employees were at the counter and no other customers in the store. Employees didn't acknowledge the wife and me. No 'Hello', no 'Can I help you?'... nothing. Two sets of customers came in after us and both were greeted. There is a loud door bell that rings upon entering so it's not like we caught them by surprise. Wife and I stayed in one area of the store looking very hard at some equipment for 10-15 minutes. Evidently the two staff members were too overwhelmed with one customer asking about a flash to split up and lend us any assistance. Sensing the odds of us receiving assistance were diminishing by the minute, we kept our money and left. Considering a complete lack of customer service, less than competitive pricing and a 'holeyer than thou' attitude, I fail to see any reason to return. read more

The person who said this is THE place for photographers in Palm Beach was wrong. This is THE place for photographers in at least all of southeast Florida. Not ONLY do you GET A CHECK when they sell your used lenses, they have some nice lens finds to buy from time to time. Plus they have a fantastically engaging psychotic named Jim with whom I always love working. It's a REAL shop. If you feel like buying a 70-200 2.8, for instance, just pop in. (Or if you feel like buying a Nikon or Canon or Leica, for that matter.) I'm disappointed in the real shops farther south. They're staffed by knowledgable people but don't bother to do anything when your equipment sells. It's kind of a metric for how much they care about doing the right thing, don't you think? read more

Accepts credit cards, minimum purchase is $10...cash is becoming obsolete, went to buy a grey card, $6, was coming back in a month to buy a couple lenses and lighting. It wasn't the card limit but the service that put me off. Me and another photographer are in the store, after 30 minutes they look up from the computer to say Hi and if we need anything. At the purchase of the card I hand over my (not to sound elitist...but I have money I can burn) my AMEX Platinum, he tells me $10 limit, I said we will need to cancel the order as I no longer carry cash (for security reasons.) (An older man with a white beard was at register who I had to interrupt to take me mind you. We are also the only people in the store.) He takes the card rapidly from my hands and in that same motion goes back to the computer. My company spends tons of money every year on photography, as that was my first experience, I will be going back in great speed to my old vendor. Fun to look through, horrible service. Go in there not needing any help from the employees. So go there, see products in person close by, buy elsewhere, that's my best suggestion. And as we had one foot out of the door, the second person there finally acknowledged us, and hilariously asked if we had any questions...AS WE ARE LEAVING LOL. read more

I walked into this store to consider buying a high end nikon camera. The man that was helping me was extremely rude. I tried asking questions about two different cameras. He was very short with me. I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman except I was in a camera store not a clothing store. I will never go back there again. We even drove out of our way to check it out. I am appalled that they are even in business. He was just looking for me to buy the most expensive camera without really figuring out what I truly needed. I even tried asking about a new lens and he was quick to tell me what I needed before actually asking me what I needed it for. Wow is all I can say. The museum portion is nice. The proshop is filled with kind sales men that have a lot of experience, I recently purchased a Gary Fong light diffuser for $80 then went home and looked online to find that the very same product is selling for $45 everywhere else. I was very disappointed with the mark up on their prices. I considered returning the item, then noticed on the receipt that the do not accept any returns which is also very disappointing. read more
