I have had physical therapy a number of times through the past 30 years and SPTA is by far the best…read morePT clinic I have been treated at. The PT's and PTA's are knowledgeable, friendly and help you through the whole process from beginning to end. It's a fun place to be if you're going to be spending a lot of time on a weekly basis for a number of months. I look forward to my appointments and always feel like I've accomplished something when I leave.

I was referred to a doctor named Miegel which might as well have been Mengele. He ordered a deep tissue cortisone shot that are supposed to last for six months. When I came back two weeks later as if I had never gotten the shot at all, I told him and he simply said "well, your not getting another shot so you may as well take two Advil a day and come back when your 50," I was too taken aback to say anything. So my dad and a number of people mentioned Newton Wellesley. From the moment I walked in the door I felt like their number one priority. Dr Laurie Katz was my first Doc who asked me what was up, I told her severe arthritis. She kind of said "okay" with some apropos sarcasm. She came back with her X-rays and turned ghost white "I thought you were kidding or got something from webMD, but this is bad. I haven't seen arthritis this bad in a long time. She immediately put me in touch with a surgeon in her group, Dr Hanmer. They decided to try another cortisone shot-because these hips don't last forever-one more time being SO young for a hip. Well, 6 days later and the pain was back. The shot did work for few days and I psyched, going up stairs without a railing or run out into the street to get a child out of danger but alas, 6 days instead months, they scheduled my surgery a moth later. It was a four hour procedure, I was out the WHOLE time. I don't want to get people's hopes up, and part of it is because I'm 34, the surgery was Wed June 3, they had me on a walker the morning of Thurs June 4th. Later that day, they gave me crutches to walk with, at the end of the walk she had me going up and down stairs! I was out of their the next morning. A lot of follow up visits, but I feel great and would recommend it to Newton Wellesley orthopedics to anyone: from beside manner; to food. Just an all around well oiled machine, good luck to you if need surgery, but at Newton Wellesley you couldn't be in better hand

My daughter ended up coming here when she was not having success at a different practice. A friend…read moretold us about this practice, and we could not be happier. She has a chronic problem, so there is no easy fix, but they took the time to really assess the problem and provided exercise to help. Lo and behold, I found myself in need of PT when the practice at my HMO was filled. I asked if I could go to this practice instead, and I am glad I did. They really take the time to understand the "why" of your problem. I appreciate that they do that and not just throw exercises at you. I am very pleased with my therapist, Connor, and already believe I am seeing progress after two weeks.

My provider initially knew my situation would be difficult to manage. I wish she told me then that…read moreshe wouldn't be able to help, rather than me becoming physically and emotionally invested for 3 months. Now I hear, despite all my best efforts, that I'm not making progress and PT is a waste of my time. This was very devastating news. I was trying to balance PT with recommendations from other health care providers, and it was confusing when the recommendations conflicted, especially about what I should be eating. I feel like there still could be meaningful ways to engage in PT, but now I feel like I'm defective, and it's me as the person who's the waste of time. I thought things were going okay, but the way it ended, especially so abruptly, was extremely upsetting. I'll heal on my own or find someone who can work around my other challenges.
