I am extremely disappointed with my experience with C & J Buckeye Repair in Girard, Ohio…read more I initially called to ask about the price for a washer diagnostic service. The receptionist seemed irritated, but gave me the pricing information, and I explained that I would call back after speaking with my husband. About five minutes later, I called back to schedule the appointment. The phone rang twice and then went straight to voicemail. I called again two more times, several minutes apart, and each time my call appeared to be declined and sent directly to voicemail. Shortly after my third attempt, I received a text message from an unknown personal cell phone number stating: "Hi there, this is Kristy from Buckeye Appliance Repair. I will not be scheduling new appointments for the next week. Sorry for any inconvenience." What made this situation even more upsetting was that I had my mother called a couple hours later asking for the exact same service and was immediately told they could come out the very next day. The only noticeable difference between our calls was our names (which show on the caller ID). I have a distinctly African American name, while my mother's name is Sandi. I cannot say with certainty what motivated the different treatment, but based on the timing and circumstances, the experience felt discriminatory and deeply uncomfortable. If appointments truly were unavailable, I believe that should have been communicated honestly and professionally over the phone instead of repeatedly declining my calls. I always try to support local businesses in my community, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Unfortunately, because of how I was treated, I would not recommend this business to others.

I phoned the owner this morning (on his "off" hours) and spoke to him on his personal cell and he said he would pick up the claim and process the paperwork upon his return to the office today. Then he had the nerve to ask for 5200 dollars upfront with this choice warranty supposedly kicking in another 3000. I knew right then and there he was a scammer so i told him to come on out for the check. Well he did show up, i think his name was jim. When he got here i asked him where the contract was at, he told me he couldn't get me a contract until the installers provided one. Evidently he wasnt the installer. Had no install date had no info on he replacement but sure wanted that check it was almost insulting. Needless to say I threw him out of my house. Never ever do business with these people and home choice is a big scam they send some bufoon like jim out wanting big bucks with no contract knowing most people wont pay up without a contract therefore absolving them from providing any repairs since you have to use there provided contractors. Pretty disgusting.

On my brand new Frigidaire range, Lowe's installation techs didn't bother installing all parts for…read morethe oven door hinges. They were apparently missing a piece for the left side, but didn't feel it was worthy of mention before they left. As a result, the right side of the oven door came loose in my hand the first time I decided to use the oven part. Our second repair was because the oven wasn't heating up to the proper temperature, but I attributed this to the oven door's faulty installation, affecting the way it seated on the gasket. But once the door was fixed, the oven still took nearly twice as long to bake at or around the recipe's temperature. Both times, Frigidaire set me up with Farragher's. They are excellent about communications regarding the repair appointments, and about any possible delays in the tech arriving at the agreed-up time slot. Parts needed to be ordered and installed for these repairs. I was also updated about the parts' ETA, then immediately scheduled for installation upon their arrival. My brand new Frigidaire oven is being serviced for a *third* separate issue now, for a broiler element that won't heat the space within 4" of it beyond 280 degrees on HI (that was the hottest temp I was able to achieve during my 45-minute preheat experiment - the inside of the oven barely even felt warm the entire time). Sadly, instead of sending Farragher's, Frigidaire sent a different repair service this time. That person personally witnessed how embarrassingly poor it performs - he tested it out with a piece of white bread on the rack, closest to the heating coil. After 6 min on HI, it should have been reduced to ash. But when he pulled it out to assess, it was just politely browned on one side. My toaster could have done that in under 3 min - and both sides would been warm. Even with proof in his hands of this thing's failure to operate properly, he gave us several excuses why it couldn't be fixed. As I'm not willing to accept that in a stove we just bought 3 mos ago, Frigidaire was supposed to call me last week about the next steps. Apparently, there was a reason they didn't state what year they'd call... Needless to say, I will never bring another Frigidaire appliance into my home. Not even if they're giving them away. My 5% uncertainty is due to parts sometimes taking ten or so days to arrive, but I am 95% sure this newest issue would already be fixed, if they'd just sent Farragher's again.

We couldn't do same day, so we met the following morning. Just as hoped, the guy kept it straightforward, honest, helpful and as described. A little context: Originally Sears was out (yes, they still exist). Having repaired a few refrigerators, garage doors and operator control boards myself over the years, I knew things weren't right with these Sears guys (yes, plural -- well, one in training, poor sod). They weren't dishonest, really, just excessive. Especially with cost (...pretty obviously constrained by dinosaur policy -- what felt geared towards getting a fleeced customer to buy a new appliance from Sears). The Sears guys estimated a four-figure two-man project, including for two off-the-shelf generic machine screws, $37 each, parts only. (Still had to pay them for coming out.) Bless their little hearts. I can see how people get bamboozed by this blue-shirted Sears "professionalism". Hearing good things, I contacted Daniil. And in a little more than a day, paid an eighth of the price for way more, better, no-nonsense, good natured, in-and-out service. With warranty. (Sears' job was to be "As-is" for an older-ish appliance in excellent condition.) We're grateful, Daniil -
