I came to Colborne Ontario from New York State specifically to see this show. It was called "BALLYHOO TALES OF AMUSEMENT." It's a funny look at fairy tales and folk tales. I had a terrific time. The stories are imaginative and funny. The humor is quick and intelligent. It quickly switches from grown up jokes to jokes for kids. I was never bored yet the church group in front of us was never offended. They did a great job of walking the line between being sophisticated and being accessible to kids. It really is suitable for the whole family. The writing was quick witted and very clever. The performers were terrific. I don't mean just terrific for being in a tent behind The Big Apple. They really were top-notch. It was well worth the drive.
We stayed at a B&B in Colborne and made a weekend of it. It was the centerpiece for a lovely weekend spent in Colborne. The night we saw the show we had dinner at The Big Apple before the show, (which was quite nice), and for the rest of the weekend we shopped for antiques in Colborne and ate at some very nice local places near the square.
We'll definitely take another trip to Colborne next summer to see the show again. read more
