Staff were always helpful, but unfortunately several times now (3-4x) family members had fillings and crowns fail, which required repair at another practice. Myself and my family had been long time patients (since the 1990's) of Dr. Christopher Wolter. He was an excellent dentist with great attention to detail and true care for his patients. May he rest in peace. Dr. Tiziana Procopio I had been informed from the California Dental Association that she is not a member. "This letter is in response to your request for review of the above-mentioned dentist. Since she is not a member of the California Dental Association (CDA)" I take great pride in my teeth and have been going to a dentist since a very early age. My dental history is excellent with only two fillings and this one crown! I have had many professional comment on the health of my teeth. That being excellent! I was told by Dr. Procopio "you are getting a great deal" is definitely not the case! (as told to me by Dr. Tiziana Procopio prior to re-doing the 1st crown) I am more than annoyed/frustrated by the sub-par work done by your office Dr. Procopio. My first crown I was not given a choice of color, material, cost or anything! I was insulated by your "new dentist of 7 months" Dr. Kahn who you after you spoke to him stated it was due to his culture that patients are called "honey, dear & love." He also insulted the original dentist when he told me "you don't want an old dentist with shaky hands working in your mouth." This is unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. I do not know this dentist and he should have refained from this type of behavior. I work also and have had to make numerous appointments with your office to schedule visits, re-do of first crown and sadly the second one as well. Delay and re-do of my Invisilane Braces and more appointments with my orthodontist. The second attempt done by you, Dr. Procopio to make my crown was very painful! After the temporary crown was in my mouth I had a week of pain in the tooth. The temporary crown was not secured property and had come out. Not to mention the 45-minute delay with waiting for you. I was told by your office staff "oh didn't we tell you that she was running behind and you will be squeezed in!" I had been noticing with "my great deal 2nd crown" that I was having issues of inflamed sore gums at the gum line. When I contacted your office regarding these issues I was told to just wait and rinse your mouth with warm water. I went to visit a Prosthodontics and their findings were: the work performed at the very best is a C. There is an excessive amount of glue that had to be removed from the bottom and all around the tooth and crown. (the excessive amount of residue glue could cause tooth decay.) The crown will need to be replaced but there is concern with doing this procedure a 3rd time. There is an apparent risk of tooth decay, cavities in the way which this crown was placed and there is a gap at the bottom of the crown. Also there is an unknown once the 2nd crown is removed. Would this possibly result in me needing a root canal at this tooth? Dr. Procopio has not attempted to resolve this issue. Very poor service and follow through! read more

Dr. Wolter has been my dentist since I was in grade school. He is highly qualified, efficient, and personable. I'm not the easiest patient to work with, but Dr. Wolter has always done his best to reduce my discomfort. The 3D TV goggles that he used to let me use during my appointments were pretty cool too. So why only 4 stars? The front desk staff never seems to remember my name even though I've been a patient for over a decade (the same two ladies). read more

Dr. Procopio is the best dentist I've been to. I had severe pain from a deep filling that needed an emergency root canal and she insisted on me coming to meet her at the office to do the work despite it being the weekend when they're closed. She takes the time to explain things in a way I can understand when I have questions, something dr. Wolter never did. I have some trauma which makes people poking around my mouth triggering but the hygienists are willing to talk to me about whatever I need to help me calm down. 10 stars if I could. I had my first toothache / cavity , which got worse after five days. My normal dentist was booked until Wednesday, and my pain started getting worse after hours. Dr Wolter after hours line was a blessing in disguise. Very professional, knows his stuff, explained everything in detail and made it as pain free as possible. Worth every cent. I am downgrading my review to 4 stars. Great service and great staff- unfortunately to get a bill 6 months later that you owe $400 (I call last week and informed it's still waiting for insurance and a false bill) . I get a second notice and call again and insurance only covered so much- I get it's the insurance side but my old dentist (Pleasant Hill Smiles) always ran the correct amount owed from the beginning. It's enough to lose my trust - great service but lost my business. read more

I was recently contacted by Dr. Wolter regarding my post. He expressed honest and sincere concern for my experience at his office. He told me that he wishes that he had known about the experience sooner, but there were some problems (which he was fixing) that had prevented him from getting my correspondance. Dr. Wolter offered to fix my problem area for free, but I had already had the issue taken care of elsewhere. Dr. Wolter and I settled on an alternative and I am now happy with the resolution to this issue. Although I wish the experience had been different, the way that Dr. Wolter corrected the situation shows me that he truely cares about his practice and the service they provide. My only regret is not going in to speak to Dr. Wolter in person. Perhaps if I had done that, this issue would've been resolved long ago. read more

I was one of Dr. Wolter's' original patients when he graduated from dental school and opened up his own practice way back in the 70's. He was such a great dentist and person overall. Very gentle, empathetic and so kind, he always made me feel very much at ease. He accepted all insurance carriers including Medi-Cal for low income families. Our long relationship as doctor/patient was wonderful and he always complimented me by telling me I was the "poster child of good dental hygiene!" When he passed away last winter, I was very sad. Not only losing a good dentist, but a good friend as well. I was happy when Dr. P. took over the practice, but things made a turn for the worse shortly thereafter. My last appointment for cleaning went ok until it was time for the dentist to examine me. I waited a very long time until one of the staff told me that the dentist who was on duty had left for the day. I left with no exam. Then I heard that Dr. P. Was no longer going accept Delta Dental insurance (one of the biggest, most used dental policies??!!). This was after she had come up with a long, detailed (and expensive) plan for major work for my husband. They were now financing their patients' work without going through insurance companies. This was a bit shocking to us. We were lucky and found another provider who does accept Delta (many still do) and I personally went into Dr. P.'s office to get my xrays and charts sent over to my new dentist. She said she did, but when I went in to get work done at the new office, they said they never got the charts. They had to take new xrays and found some decay in my teeth that should have been noticed (had I received that exam) and had grown progressively worse for 6 months. Anyway, we are very happy with our new dentist and are being treated as "family" instead of a way to make more money. I am wondering if Dr. P.'s new business model will lose a lot of older patients like my husband and me. We do, however, miss Dr. Wolter very much. read more

Dr Tiziana Procopio is the best dentist! I have been seeing her for years after moving here from San Francisco. She is warm, smart, meticulous, and personable and stands by her work. My teeth are especially complicated because of an accident I had 20 years ago. I have had to have root canals, multiple crowns, gum surgery, etc. And she has been patient and caring throughout. On top of that, I completely trust her. I feel like she cares about me like I'm one of her family. Went to see Dr. Wolter today, LOVE HIM..honest dentist and not many arounnd these days. Needed something fixed and he got me in...I sent him a text on Tuesday 4.12.11 and he responded right away at 1AM!! My son cracked his 2 front teeth awhile back goofing around and Dr. Wolter met us on a Saturday in his office. I took Mikey to our previous dentsist Dr. Krober in concord they told me that Mikey needed a root canal??? what he has chipped his 2 front teeth when he was 8 and we know that he has to get them repaired at least every 2.5 years. Dr. Wolter told us Mikey will need a root canal eventually but at 15 yrs old he said that his teeth are fixable. I am so impressed with their staff because they make you feel COMFORTABLE!!!! Let me start off by saying I love this place. Dr.Wolters and his crew are top notch. I trust these guys....and girls with my life!!! Ive had everything from fillings to extractions and let me tell you they take care of business. Ive called them in tears from the pain and they always made me feel better from the phone call to the dental work....they even offer emergency service!!!! (If your like me that comes In handy)!! I live across the bridge so I take the extra time/gas/bridge toll to commute to these guys, they're that good. One thing I love about going there is that they take care of the office its always clean!!! That place must be dusted and vacuumed every night, that really got them points with me!! They did a crown a few years back and it came off. for whatever reason I needed a new crown and it was going to cost me over a thousand dollars. He contacted me after I wrote an email regarding it and he was more than willing to accommodate a new crown free off charge. There still is people who care in this world! I went here twice. Once for a cleaning that took 2 hours because the tech was inefficient and incapable of doing the x-rays nor did she know how to work the computer to get the images up. The second time was for a small replacement filling. I had to wait 40 minutes for the dentist to even see me. Apparently, having to wait long is typical of this office. I was told I would be getting a white filling after they had already drilled and were getting ready to fill the tooth, no options. What I wasn't told is they would be charging me $151 for what should have cost me less than $80 if I had just got silver like it was before. The gal at the front desk was completely rude and gave me total attitude when I questioned the bill and told me "maybe next time you'll read your insurance manual so you're not uninformed next time you try to use your insurance." If you do decide to go here, you better know EVERY in and out of your policy and ask every question in the book because they will overcharge you at every turn and you will be waiting forever to be seen. read more
