Absolute garbage…read more First appointment here. After waiting for about a half hour to be called for intake info and completing everything they need from me, I am waiting to give a blood test, and take off my sweatshirt. Everyone stops to stare for a moment, while I said something along the lines of "I know what you're thinking..." because everyone seems to be intimidated to insert an IV because of my tattoos. After what felt like decades, some entitled, opinionated, and visibly miserable "supervisor" walks out of her room, stands next to me, gives me an up & down look, then looks at the agent at the counter and just simply shakes her head at her with a face of disgust, then proceeds to walk back into her cave, as if she's the lords gift! Well apparently, they CANNOT DRAW PLASMA IF YOU HAVE TATTOOS!??!? Never heard this from any medical "professional" before, nor is it stated ANYWHERE on the website! So clearly I'm feeling a bit singled out here. I asked the agent that was helping me if this is normal, or if they have issues with anyone else, and she replied that they do! And I even asked that they PLEASE put that on their website, or "forward to the appropriate individual that actually cares..." because their alleged "supervisor" clearly did not, and because they've wasted hours of my life (researching the location I feel comfortable and convenient online, set an appointment, prepped last night and this morning, and took time off from work for), but also wasted their time too. I guess the fact that my hands are cover in tattoos wasn't enough indication that my arms were also tattooed, during my intake process?! A lot of things should be done differently here. Treating people who are donating plasma without respect for no reason is one of many I can think of. I would NEVER recommend anyone go here, tattoos or not. You never know how you'll be treated.

I work in Dallas, so going to this location was a trek, but it looked nice in pictures so I decided to give it a try. Big mistake. Just leaving the center for the 4th time being turned away for not having something correct on paperwork from my doctor. 4th people, haven't gotten past the physical, no plasma given. I have been lucky enough to have neck surgery twice in the past year. They asked that my doctor fill out a piece of paper saying they didn't use some kind of cement that would make me have an allergic reaction. No biggie. I simply scanned and sent to my doctors email and received my form back quickly. After work another day, I decided to proudly take my form back and give plasma. Negative. After waiting an hour to see a nurse, I was informed that I still couldn't give because my doctor didn't fill out the physical piece of paper with holes punched in it that they gave me. There was even a box to check if I could give plasma 2xs a week, and my doctor approved. By this time it's after work and they close at 6, my doctors office closes at 5, in Plano. Day 3, physically drive to Plano and explain to the receptionist exactly what they need, except my doctor was in surgery that day, so waited a week to get papers in the mail. Tried for the 3rd time to find out the doctor didn't fully give them everything. After dropping off the original paperwork in Plano I was sent home to wait another week on snail mail, yet again. 4th time trying to donate today and was informed my papers had a wrong time/day stamp. The nurse then informed me that even though the doctor only works on Wednesdays, for the morning only that I would have to wait another week bc the doctor was only there for a few hours. The phrase, "jumping through hoops" would be easier than getting approval by this place. If plasma is needed so bad, why do they make it impossible? It was actually suggested by an employee there to see if they were more lenient at another plasma place. Wow. I literally wasted a month trying to do what was asked. The moral of my story is that if you have any kind of surgery, you will have to get all kinds of unnecessary paperwork from your doctor. My advice, find another way to make a little extra money, save time and go somewhere else.

The property costs will force something to happen at some point, I'm guessing. With that out front, this location manages to do the important task of training people and providing relief services. The facility is old, showing signs of wear and not enough volunteer and paid resources to make it look new and shiney. It still performs and hosts quite a few activities. I've had my CPR and First Aid courses here. In a pinch, this location could still provide support for something large.

I arrived for my appointment time, checked in via rapid pass and then with the check in table. After being called to have my iron tested etc. I sat for several minutes watching people that came in after me being called to a bed to start their donations until a worker realized I was still waiting. Once I was on the table and donation started the alarm went off for several minutes and I finally got a workers attention and he came over and said he'd be right back.. then after several more minutes ..watching him check some machine and wipe down a table he walked over and said he'd have to adjust my needle.. 3 workers later, they had my donation going again.. alarm goes off for several minutes again before they come over (not sure if they can hear alarms over the loud music) original guy comes over and takes needle out etc and I immediately start feeling my fingers and toes throbbing and just feeling weird in general (which isn't normal for me) so they put a wet paper towel on my head, lay the bed back and then just left me there for a long time.. I sat up when I started feeling better.. still no one came over.. so I left. Once home, I sent an internal email via the Red Cross website about my concerns. Today is Saturday, July 4th and I haven't heard anything back from the Red Cross- nothing. Although I'm sure once it's time for me to donate again, I'll be getting texts, calls, mail, and emails requesting me to make a donation. Typically when I donate, I don't have even a small bruise. The bruising on my arm this time is AWFUL. It will probably be awhile before I decide to donate my O+ blood again because this was so traumatizing, but if I do, I will probably contact Carter BloodCare because it's obvious to me Red Cross just wants my blood and doesn't care about me. Picture is what my arm looks like 4 days later.

When I originally called to ask some general questions about what exactly a doula does, she was kind, patient, and so freaking educated about the process of childbirth. We were offered a tour of Baylor hospital (virtual due to COVID), newborn classes, and tons of educational resources after booking with NDDA. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. As a Black woman, childbirth can be an extremely scary experience, just look up the statistics of mistreatment in the healthcare space for minorities. Melissa and team advocated for my husband and I. We felt taken care of every step of the way. Thank you NDDA!

My primary reason too for picking this place was the fact they offer a beautiful placenta art print. I wanted to honor my placenta because it's such an incredible and powerful organ, and I'm obsessed with the art prints. They're both framed and are hanging up in my daughters' room. I've worked with Meredith L. and Madison Prez for the placenta encapsulation. They were both very easy to contact and responded promptly over text. I worked with Madison most recently, and she picked up the placenta and quickly processed it and delivered it to my home. I got placenta pills, a tincture, the keepsake cord, and the art print. I love the packaging and branding too- very alice in wonderland. I highly recommend this service and would work with Madison again. The art print she made was stunning!

When I admitted to the hospital I was worried about my leg swelling, pain, and to be on that continue diuretic medications, but the way Selma makes it easier for me to understand that she print a educational pamphlets for me with pictures that makes me understand my disease process. I also have positive experience with Methodist doctors' team, but they only visit me for 30 seconds to 1 minutes, but nurses are the one who deals with me for whole 12-14 hours a day, which makes a big impact on my life. One of the nurse aid told me Salma works like 4-5 days a week, which is a lot, but I don't feel that way by her positive attitude and energy towards her patients, she always knocks my door and calls me "hi friend, are you ok lol", that already making me feel like I am not a sick person lol. I wish I would never be sick, but if I would I wants to be taking care of under methodist hospital 4-south nurse Salma M. I don't remember where she is from, but all I remember was her smiling face, positive attitude and funny talks which makes my day better. I would also like to share that, as a patient, I can tell we already have a stressful day going on with a lot of interruptions, lack of sleep, away from family, pain, inconvenience environment, but a positivity from a nursing staff truly changed my day. I want to say a big THANK YOU to Salma for her best care and positivity towards her job. I was lucky to have a joyful nurse for all three days. Thank you Methodist once again.
