I gave them 2 and a half weeks till I needed my items for a conference. 2 days before I called to check on them and they said they were not finished but they guaranteed they would be done by the date I gave them. I never received a call so the morning of the day I needed them, I called saying I needed to come get them I cannot wait. They said they were not ready but to please give them an hour. They called me saying they were ready so I went to pick them up, AND THEY WERE NOT DONE. They said I needed to come back in another hour. After all of this I still paid close to $200 with no discount or refund and didn't even receive an apology. read more

worst experience ever! took them a dress to have the length altered. I bought the material they used and was charged 200$ I told them when I needed the dress and was told it would be ready 2 days before. took my daughter in for a final fitting on a Sunday was told the dress would be ready by Tuesday and I would receive a call. I never got the call so I called Thursday and was able to pick the dress up right at closing. we needed the dress for a pageant Thursday night and she was not able to wear it because the corset tie was sewn to the hem of the dress. we didn't have time to take it back and when I asked for a refund I was denied because it's a simple fix that i should've called about even though they were closed plus I was supposed to give a date before the date I needed it which I did. This whole situation was handled very unprofessionally. I'm not a complainer but if you know you done someone wrong just admit fault and make it right instead of trying to make excuses. I have never had a worse experience at a business than here. I dropped a dress off on a Monday for my graduation pictures with a very simple request for it to be hemmed 2 inches. I was charged $105, half of this being a "rush fee" because I needed it by that weekend. I was told to come between 10am and 12pm to pick it up. When I showed up, it was untouched with the pins still in it. The owner told me that it would now be ready by 2pm. I asked if I could at least have the rush fee refunded since it wasn't ready in the original pickup window. He then says "What, you're going to wear this before 2pm?" I said when I'm wearing it doesn't matter, it's the fact that I paid an extra $50 to have it ready by a certain time and it wasn't ready when promised. After arguing over the rush fee, I end up just asking if I can take the dress home as is and receive a full refund. He attempts to process the refund but says "it won't go through since it's a weekend. Come back on Monday." However, he wouldn't let me take my dress home with me. I ended up having to get my mother involved just to be taken seriously. He finished the alteration within an hour of her calling -- proving that he could've had it done by the original date and time but just chose not to. The alteration was fine but absolutely not worth the headache and attitude I had to deal with from this rude, abrasive, and gaslighter of an owner. I will probably never see my refund because he is sticking to his story that "they can't attempt refunds on weekends." Multiple University of Alabama students reached out to me after I posted about this in a group chat and said they've had similar experiences. This man is a scammer that preys on young college girls for their money. I would rather have an ill fitting wardrobe than ever deal with this business ever again. read more

My granddaughter needed an emergency alteration on a pageant dress that had already been altered but fit more poorly after the first shop altered it. A friend told my daughter about Prof Alterations #1. The wonderful ladies there told my daughter to bring the dress in immediately and they could have it ready by the next day, which was the day of the pageant. They had it ready 30 minutes early and insisted that my granddaughter put it on there so that they could make sure it fit correctly. I have had good alterations done there before, but was astonished at the most recent service I had. I took a dress in two weeks ago to get just a simple take in on the sides and it was supposed to be ready on a Friday. That Friday the dress was not ready so I was told to come the following Monday. I made the lady aware that Monday I was going out of town so I would need it first thing in the morning. I show up first thing Monday morning and my dress is cut open and obviously not finished: they tried to hide that fact from me and told me to come back later but I could see my dress was unfinished and I was not going to be able to leave town on time. Four hours later they were able to get the dress to me finished. I have never had such terrible service and will not be going back ever again. read more

This place came highly recommended but it's a no for me. First, the main seamstress isn't the slightest bit friendly. She loves to say that she's "been doing this for 60 years" and thereby infer that your opinion is useless to her. Second, I took three pieces in to be altered or repaired. The first nothing more than reattaching a little shoulder pad in a structured tee. Second, taking in the bodice on an evening gown, and third same thing with a light sweater type tunic/skirt set. The gown was horrifying. The darts in bust area in no way even come close to coinciding with my actual bust. And instead of cutting the bulk from sides of the sweater top and sewing a new seam, she turned the bulky fabric inward and stitched it thereby adding the appearance of two inches of fat on my torso! And third, charged me $250 for this travesty. And this isn't the first time, but definitely the straw that broke the camels back! read more

Overall the work finalized on my birthday dress that I had brought in to be altered turned out very well. I would recommend their work IF you don't need it in a timely manner. I had dropped the dress off a week in advance, plenty of time to be completed, and at the time of drop off they give you a small paper to fill out [name, number, when you need it by.... Info like that.] I even went the extra mile to give them a specific time as to when the dress needed to be done by. When I went to pick it up, a week later and at the time I had written down, it was not ready. The young lady I had given the dress to, was not there at the time and she had started the alterations but didn't complete it. My dress was half completed at the time it was supposed to be ready. Luckily, The gentleman that was there along with his mother, I believe, were able to finish it within the hour. They did an amazing job. The owner is rude and disrespectful. Don't expect to have your alterations done properly unless his wife or assistant are working to fix your clothes. I turned in some items over a week ago and nothing was done. I have never seen the owner until today, but his mother can be quite nasty and rude. The best I can say about this establishment was how friendly the staff was when I first went in. They were easy to work with and made suggestions to make my suit look better. However, I was ultimately disappointed with the service. I brought it my suit to get the pants hemmed, the jacket sleeves tapered, sides brought in, and the collar adjusted. I left it there for a week, as I didn't need it in a rush. They texted me it was ready on the pickup date and I went in a few hours afterwards. I was shocked with when I picked up my suit. The jacket was facing the opposite way on the hanger. While a minor detail, it showed a lack of care for my suit. The jacket and pants fit as expected afterwards, but I was appalled to see the inside of my jacket. The seam where they did work through looked rushed at best. It seemed like a hack job, and a showed a serious lack of effort and care. That would have been understandable if it had been rushed, but I gave them a week. I expected much better from the price tag of the alterations ($70+!) I had to return that day and have them correct it. There were no apologies for their obvious oversight. I was a bit worried due to some of the previous negative reviews but I can firmly say I had a more than satisfactory experience. I brought in an old jacket to have the entire zipper replaced and they did it within the time they promised and did it well, more importantly. The zipper was placed cleanly and I can honestly say that it would be hard to tell that it wasn't the original one. I brought in 2 dresses and 1 pair of pants to be hemmed and was charged $150 for these services. I tried on one dress and the seamstress said "length is good" when it was not which is why I brought it in for a hem. I asked for them to be done a week and a day from when I dropped them off, one week and 2 days go by and I have not heard anything. I had to call to ask if they were ready, finally was told I needed to come in for a "fitting" and come to find out one of the dresses wasn't even ready. They claimed someone called me the day after I dropped the dress off but I never received a call. The day I asked for the items to be done by was a Sunday but was never asked to change the date due to them being closed on a Monday. Everyone I spoke to (the one man and one older lady" were extremely rude and not helpful. Needed my wedding jacket arm shortened. They did it at an angle, and not only that, tried to explain that "fashionable" jacket arms are always hemmed at an angle! They did it at an angle, because they wanted to save the work of moving the buttons. So basically shortened the end away from the buttons, and left the button side as is. I had prepaid $30 with a 20% tip and did not ask for a refund. Will have to find another tailor that can fix it for me before the wedding day. read more

This is my second coming to PROF Alterations . Both times I have been greeted pleasantly. Both times I was quoted with what I deemed as a fair price (once, bringing in the width on a jacket & the second, a taper & hem to some pants). Each time was 45$ for the services. Also each time I was quoted for next day delivery but each time they completed the job same day without any problems. I Choose this alteration shop because of reviews and I could not be more disappointed. This shop is not to be trusted! ***Warning long post Last Friday I went and made a visit to PROF Alterations to have a dress taken in a few inches for a very special event. I told them I needed the dress by Tuesday and am willing to pay any rush fee. They pinned me up (out in the open with male employees around and anyone able to walk in) and snipped off my dress ties. After the process they told me the cost would be $50.00. I prepaid, plus I tipped. I received no calls or text messages when Tuesday came around. I decided to go into the shop Wednesday morning asking for my dress completely understanding if they finished late last night. (I leave for the event wednesday afternoon) However this was not the case. My dress had not been touched. First I was told the woman was not there and she will be back later. Then I received a story about how the lady who pinned me will not allow any of the other ladies to touch her dresses. Then I received a story about how they have children and issues with their daily lives. I completely understand this! However I prepaid, plus tipped and if my dress was not going to be a priority I would have taken it somewhere else. They offered to do the dress right in front of me however they had claimed this normally takes two weeks. I did not want a rushed job that would end up destroying it! The PROF Alteration store either takes advantage of the customers by giving a 2 week time line when they are capable of having it done much sooner. Or they were willing to destroy my dress to quickly get it done after taking my money. I hope to prevent anyone from experiencing this problem! I am very upset. read more
