My favorite is Akiel (sp?) he's got a great eye for how to style my hair, with an eye toward 'pushing' me to keep it a tad longer on top with scissoring into a low fade, late 1950's, mid 60's look, just before hair got long in 1967!! Rarely wait more than 10 minutes, 15 max. Fair price , $30 I think now [$10 tip ].

My boyfriend and I were passing by at about 10:15pm on Wednesday night. The front door to the shop was wide open, the music was pumpin , and the open sign was lit. It says unisex on the sign so I wanted to ask if they cut women's hair too. I entered the door way, smiled and said hi, then said 'can I ask you a quick question?' He stepped closer, trying to hear over the music, so I repeated myself. He responded 'No' then proceeded to usher us back out of the shop and lock the front door behind us. He kept watch for a bit, as if we were gonna do something. Seriously... I would not recommend anyone using the services here. There are 4 other barbershops within the same vacinity.

Unfortunately, he proceeded to cut my hair significantly shorter than we talked about (I asked for one inch off, they cut about 3 inches off). He also gave me a skin fade when I asked for a 2 on the sides. It was disappointing to have this happen when we talked about expectations in the beginning. More dialogue about expectations may be warranted for future patrons! The one saving grace was that the haircut was a good haircut in that the fade was pretty clean. It just wasn't what I asked for.

As soon as I came to Station 8, I knew I finally found the hairdressers I would stick with. I've seen two different stylists here, most recently Michael, and am very satisfied with both the results and environment of the salon. I absolutely trust them with my hair and I know they listen to what I ask for. I will (and consistently have) recommend this salon to others!

Shayne and Deep Blue Barber shop is a gem. The place is nice and minimalistic in a very thoughtful way. The scheduling online and electronic payment options are great. Shayne uses great products and always takes care of his razors. His neck shaves are a delight, and if I needed a neck shave or was up for a old school or hipster cut I would have no hesitations he'd get it right. I appreciate that he allows the options to schedule a 15 minute perimeter trim for low mulah. Shayne is professional and has taken great care to fill his shop only when a great barber such as himself will saddle up in one of the two chairs beside him. Hours are good and location is nice.

While my first visit was not ideal (the barber was super rough while cutting my sides with the trimmer and I had a headache by the end of it), every visit since then has been significantly better. My latest visit was with a new barber named Jose, who was incredibly friendly and attentive to what I needed in a haircut. The only miss for me was when he started trimming into my beard because he misunderstood when I said I would trim it myself. So while I'm currently missing my beard, it'll grow back and I'll be clearer about that in the future. I'll definitely be back.

As a latino homosexual, that made me feel no longer welcomed, and uncomfortable, in their business.
