He had also let go one of the workers who had done my electrical. After making an appointment to come out the following week, I sent him my list of things that needed to be fixed, detailed in my original review. As promised, Chris came out on Monday. He was on time--even early--friendly and courteous. Chris made some recommendations on how to fix some of the problems, did the work, and also saved the day with some quick thinking. He also changed out a motion detector switch to a regular one even though it was out of scope. Steve himself came out and we smoothed things over. I was happy to have the work completed quickly and even talked to him about coming back to install a new light over my dining table. Although I would have preferred the work had been done properly originally, Steve takes pride in his work and I know he felt bad that there had been issues. I understand when family matters come up, and I told him as much. However, I do think he should have left an outgoing voice message explaining that he was taking time off and would not be returning calls for an extended amount of time. I was actually about to hire another electrician to fix all the problems, so I would been pretty upset if I had done so only to have Steve contact me afterward. ***ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW*** My initial experience with Steve and John, who were recommended by my contractor, was good. However, I've now left two messages this year for Steve asking him to come back and fix small issues that came up within weeks of my moving back into my remodeled home: canned light went out, dimmer makes a buzzing noise, smoke alarm fell off my master bedroom ceiling. And the big one: fans in both baths come on when heat/air does and not necessarily when they should. I.e., when I'm showering and the bathroom steams up. I'm sure all of these problems are easy to fix, so I'm frustrated that I've left two very polite messages (one on Steve's cell phone; one at the shop) and still haven't received a call back in over two weeks. I spent more than $10k with Southwest and thought Steve and John were very professional and helpful during the remodel. I think it's very unprofessional now for Steve to not follow up on these issues that I've documented through date-stamped photos. I think it's interesting that the majority of these 5-star reviews for Southwest are from people who don't write many reviews. This can be a sign of business owners asking for favorable reviews in return for providing a discount. If you're researching electricians or any other businesses on Yelp, I recommend doing your homework. Just because the business has 5-star reviews does not mean they truly are a 5-star business.

I've had SW Electric work on my pool equipment, my interior lighting, add a ceiling fan, add attic fans, etc -- their prices are always reasonable and they take care of me quickly.

Frank started off on a positive note and then things went South…read more Starting with the end first, after doing a job at my home, I hired Frank to replace a simple fluorescent light fixture and also to remove the ballast from another fixture at stores I own. Basic projects akin to what you would find in a home laundry room or basement. As Frank just completed a job that we had contracted before, I trusted him to be reasonable on the second project. Unfortunately, he spent an inordinate amount of time training an apprentice and then charging me for that time. He charged $600 to procure and replace the fixture and $300 to remove the ballast. I've done both these jobs before. One was about an hour and the other a couple hours, maybe a few. I mentioned my concerns about me paying for the apprentice training and Frank became somewhat defensive explaining this was a common practice in the industry. That may be the case in big corporate jobs, but I've never heard of this practice for a small project like this. He refused to budge on the price he was charging me. I paid the two invoices and do not plan to use his service again. It's unfortunate because I was thinking he could become our vendor of choice for the stores I own, but that's not going to happen now. The initial Job Frank did for us was to replace all of the incandescent ceiling lamps in our home with LED lamps. Overall, the work he did was great. However he did not take note that the light switches we had previously we're lit that so that when it's dark we see where the light switches are. Frank replaced those switches with LED compatible switches that do not light up. Not a big deal, but something to be remedied. When I noticed that error, he agreed to work with me on replacing the switches with ones that are lit up at night. He did not offer to procure the switches which I did by going to multiple stores. He did not offer to pay for the switches even though he had thrown away our original switches. He did offer to do the work to install the replacement switches. We agreed he would only charge me a 1/2 hour for what was probably an hour or two of his time and a 1/2 to 1 hour apprentice time. We got it resolved, but it could have been avoided with a little more attention to detail in the first place. On the more positive side of things, Frank did a great job coordinating logistics and confirming our scheduled times the day before. He seems to really know his profession and did good work. He also did a very nice job of cleaning up before leaving. Unfortunately things ended on a sour note. If you choose to use All Spark, you might mention this experience going into the relationship and prepare to have constructive conversations should anything go wrong. In addition you may want to make it clear that you're happy to pay for an apprentice who can do the work of a more expensive person, but that you do not want to pay for training time. I hope this review helps you working with All Spark and also Frank in learning how to better work with clients. A simple reduction in billing associated with the apprentice training could have avoided this whole mess.

It would have been very easy after a long week to let the late Friday afternoon call go to voicemail and handle it on Monday, leaving us to worry about the issue all weekend. Carlos arrived within 15 minutes, investigated the issue, ensured everything was safe, and referred the matter to David, who provided a quote on Monday to replace the entire electrical panel and obtain all permits on our behalf. He reassured us that all would be fine. Once the permits were secured, the Pleasure Point Electric team arrived, installed the new panel, coordinated with PG&E to restore power, and obtained the City permit with no issues. This company is a fine example of a local business that operates professionally with honesty, integrity, and fair pricing. He started with my home 10 years ago and did a terrible job AKA total hack job so I ended up taking him to court and we worked it out.. Stupid me ran into him again 3 years ago and ended up having him do my business cameras 3 years ago and his work quality got much better but he was very expensive but I gave him the job for he seemed eager to please me. I had everything in writing along with a 3 year warrenty on parts and labor along with support if any was needed. Well I needed some support and after 20 calls he finally half way answered my questions and I ended up figuring the rest out myself. I had a bad camera like a year ago and he refused to replace it until I showed him the contract and threatened court again, he finally fixed it after many calls. I still have like 6 months left on my warrenty now and he told me if anyone else touched my cameras my warrenty would be no good. I needed to add 6 cameras and he gave me a quote for 3900.00 and we negotiated it to 3500.00 then he changed his mind and insisted on the 3900.00. I Agreed to pay the higher quote as I was stuck although not comfortable at all working with him any longer. He did the install using 6 pixel cameras and cat 5 in which both are way out dated along with running bare cat 5 wire over 100 feet to feed a camera as all my other wires are in conduit. I went to inspect the job and told him that he could not run bare wire and demanded he put the wire in conduit and looked at his work for he drilled in the top of a waterproof box and made the hole to big and did not use proper fasteners and used bathroom caulking to seal the hole and just threw the 8 port switch in the box along with the electrical and left. It rained that day and I asked him to go back and reseal the box properly and to make sure all the equipment was dry. He said he did and I didn't trust him so I went out to inspect the box to see he did not reseal the box properly and the inside was all wet and condensation everywhere. I told him he did a terrible job and did not want to pay the balance until he fixed it properly. He told me if I didn't he would go tear out all the equipment and sent me nasty videos. I called the Police and they told me to pay him and sue him. I paid him and told him to go fix my box several times as he never did. He went on vacation and all the new cameras went down while he is currently on vacation as I contacted him and he told me I had to wait until March 6 when he gets back.... I told him he is f ing crazy to get someone out here now and he told me he is a one man show LOL wonder why?? I told him I was gonna have someone else come fix it and bill him. He agreed to reimburse me 200.00 for the service call. I had it fixed by a professional company that charged me 200.00 for the call and 150.00 to replace the 8 port that got wet along with fixing several of his cables that were not secure and flimsy n falling apart (See Pics of Marcos work of the box before and after it was properly done). I called Marco and he refused to pay for the guy to come out So were gonna take this whole thing to Judge Judy and see what she says!!!
