After a quick exam on my mother, he determined she had piriformis syndrome and a stenosis condition, and he scheduled her for an injection that he was to perform. After the procedure, my mother's pain got much worse. He had prescribed pain killers, but they weren't helping. We called his office to see if she could take a higher dose, but after a couple of business days, Dr. Villanueva did not get back to us. We called a third time and were told she could take a higher dose. We asked for a follow-up appointment, since she was in even more pain than before the epidural shot he administered. Then the day before her scheduled follow-up, the office called to say they had to reschedule it to the following week. We got very angry that my mother clearly wasn't doing well and that we couldn't get his attention for a follow up. They then took us as a "walk in," and after several hours of waiting, the doctor finally got to examine my mother. During this visit, Dr. Villanueva prescribed a lumbar MRI. The MRI revealed severe stenosis pressing directly on the sciatic nerve. At that point it was clear that only spinal surgery could solve this issue. We proceeded to find a qualified surgeon, and my mother's condition improved dramatically about 3 weeks after the operation. I question Dr. Villanueva's ethics. He was quick to determine that my mother had piriformis syndrome, which was not the case. He should have initially referred her for a lumbar MRI to even see what the problem was. A principled doctor would have determined from the MRI that her stenosis condition was severe and not something a simple epidural could fix. Instead, Dr. John Villanueva took the insurance money to do his thing. We wasted a lot of time and went through a lot of aggravation instead of getting a competent diagnosis from the start. He was slow to respond and did not show empathy for my mother's extreme pain level.

When I spoke to Lucas he said he had an appointment available in 3 weeks. Perfect! Out of everyone I spoke to Lucas was also the friendliest. He explained that I needed to fill out some paperwork first and he would e-mail it to me. Within a few minutes it was in my in box. The day of my appointment I arrived at the office a bit early. I was the only one on the waiting room and a cheerful Lucas greeted me right away. A few minute later Roberto took my temperature then escorted me in. Much like Lucas I immediately got a good vibe from Roberto. He is so chilled and laid back. He took my vitals and walked me to the exam room. A few short minutes later Dr Drange came in. She took the time to listen to me and explained to me what the next steps would be to determine my diagnosis. She suggested an ultrasound of my thyroid and a more in-depth blood test - both of which she could do in her office. Dr Drange did the ultrasound herself - explaining things along the way. Then she brought me to another room where Roberto would take my blood. I dread blood test but Roberto immediately put me at ease. He was very gentle when taking my blood and it didn't hurt at all. I wish all techs were this good! A week later Dr Drange called with the results of my tests and my diagnosis. It's so hard to find a good Dr but I really felt comfortable with her. I appreciated that she listened to my concerns and explained everything to me and made sure I understood what was going on. When I came back for my follow up visit I had the same pleasant experience. Doctor visits are always scary and stressful so I really appreciate the effort that Dr Drange and her staff make to make sure their patients are comfortable and put them at ease. I'm so grateful I found them and am even more grateful that she is going to help me get my life and health back on track.

Last week, I spoke to the receptionist…read morebecause my refills of my prescription had run out so I booked an appointment a week out and was told to go to any Quest location to get bloodwork done. During the same call, I also told the receptionist I needed copies of my files for my Physician and eventually for a new endocrinologist because I moved from the Pasadena area. She said that I would need to fill out the form that will be emailed to me and I would receive the documents within 48 hours. Unfortunately, I did not receive the documents on time which caused me to have to reschedule my appointment with my physician. This past Tuesday, I had to call their office to cancel my appointment because I couldn't get an appointment for bloodwork. I told the receptionist I would call back in once I have gotten the bloodwork done. Today (Thursday) I took time to go to Quest to get bloodwork done and I was told they do not have any requests for bloodwork sent by Dr. Drange's office. So, I waited for about 30-45 minutes and they still didn't receive anything. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a hold of anyone from their office around 11 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.-12:25 p.m. so Quest had to deny my appointment and told me I had to rebook it for another time. Around 12:45 p.m. I received a call from Ruth stating because I requested a transfer of records that they cancelled the bloodwork request. The transfer of records and bloodwork was being done concurrently, so it doesn't make sense to close out my records at their office if that wasn't even communicated to me. It would have been helpful if the receptionist told me on Tuesday when I had to cancel my appointment that they were going to close out my records as a patient, so I didn't have to take time out of my day to try to get bloodwork. On a positive note there is room for improvement, if the front desk and their medical records department kept better lines of communication it would really help their patients out to avoid these misunderstandings and time wasted on the patients' side. And since the receptionist is their first line of contact, the receptionist should note in their system what was spoken about to the patient if it could potentially affect what it done on their medical records side of their office.

I was SO Glad that I was treated by Dr.Pan at the inSite Digestive HealthCare at the SGV office after weeks of suffering. I expected that doctors having those convo out of professionalism, but didn't expected them to actually remembered or even care. When Dr.Pan asked me about how my study plans went which I've only mentioned once two WEEKs ago, I was surprised. Dr.Pan truly did care and remember his patients, and it SHOWs. During the wait time, while I got to observe how he interacted with the other patients, without surprise, he greeted everyone with kindness, patients and staff, elder or young. Dr.Pan is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, and he also speaks good amount of Spanish. He would greet the patients in their native tongue when the patients arrive, asked whether they've improved since last visit. and personally explained the post-procedure care and answer questions before patients were released. I've accompanied my mom to get her regular colonoscopy done at another health center earlier this year, and she was discharged with two sheets of paper without a word with the attending gastroenterologist, yet now I know whom to ask for in the future if anyone who have get GI problems that need to be well taken care of.

I had one meeting with this woman that didn't even last the full time because her professional behavior was so abhorrent that I could not continue in the space with her. She is supposed to be a mental health professional; someone who helps. Instead she snarks, blames, and makes you feel worse. She does not understand what trauma-informed care looks like, and frankly I don't think she cares. I have moved many times in the last 6 years due to a combination of my job and chronic health issues. At the start our meeting she spent about 5 minutes berating me for taking so long to make an appointment and prioritize my mental health. She then proceeded to compare me and my life to her 20-something daughter and mocked me for growing up in the Midwest because I "can't understand how the real world works in LA" (her words). This is the worst clinician I have ever had the experience of speaking with. As soon as I left our appointment I filed a complaint with the licensing board against her. She is a disgrace to the profession and seems like she does more harm to her clients than she helps. I get the impression that if I struggled with thoughts of self harm she would be a person to belittle the person and potentially make them thoughts worse for them. I do not recommend this "professional" to anyone. There is nothing that could ever be said or done that would convince me to have another conversation with her. -10/10

I've known people who have had sessions with her. She is mean spirited, combative, and demeaning within 5 minutes of first meeting. This is not a "tough" approach, she abuses patients with her angry arguments, judgments, and without an iota of compassion. I debated writing this because it's so damning, but it could save someone's life: one of the famous comics, that was very public about being her patient, committed suicide. It is my belief that had he been under better care from an ethical and kind therapist, he would still be alive. Just read every other review, something dark is going on with her.
