Two years ago I was having some real trouble with three bulging disks in my back. I had originally hurt it some 20 years before. The pain had gotten to the point I could no longer do the things I love to do. Exercise had become almost impossible. My options at the time were injections, surgery or physical therapy. Fortunately for me, I chose PT and the folks at ProEx in Haverhill MA. Karen and Jess had the knowledge and experience to put together a program to loosen my frozen vertebrae and strengthen the muscles around my spine. While they can't fix the physical damage to my spine, they have given me the keys to getting my life back. They told me as much on my first visit. In the end I left with: 1. An exercise program to follow to insure my hard won relief would not be short lived. 2. Confidence in the knowledge of what I can and cannot do safely. 3. Suggestions for simple changes in how to handle daily activity to make it safer. 4. Comfort in the knowledge that, if things change, I now have a place to return for the answers. 5. Some new friends in Karen, Jess, Kim, Aman and Brian. My experience was so positive that I have since brought three other family members to ProEx for treatment; my wife and two of my children. Each situation was very different. And each patient was dealt with effectively and in the shortest number of visits possible. Copays do add up you know! The staff at ProEx are wonderful people to work with. You will work hard in PT. But these folks will help you make that experience as positive, humorous and fruitful as possible. Proex is one of the best medical care places I have ever gotten in my 14 years of living. I have been there for almost a year and every staff member is amazing! There are the nicest people I've ever met, they care about every patient the same, and most importantly they helped me recover from my knee surgery so I can get back to what I love doing most. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. My son has been coming here for a period of time due to a sports related injury to his knee. Since his first appointment we have been so happy with Pro Ex. He sees the same therapist for each appoinment and he has been excellent in working with my teenage son. The therapist is excellent and gives my son 100% each visit, and his recovery has moved along perfectly. Without him, I do not know where my son would be at this point. Additionally, the office staff is excellent to work with. Someone always picks up the phone when you call and they are very accomodating when you need to change an appointment, even last minute. I can not say enough about ProEx , they have been great! read more

Wow! I am very impressed and I have only had a couple visits so far. This place is very busy with at least three therapists on duty. I have yet to see this place with no clients inside. Bradford ProEx Physical Therapy does not know what they are doing. I was sent there by my neurosurgeon because it was the closest PT to my home. I've got a very rare compression fracture of the sacrum caused by a stage 3 wound ( I was in a coma and bedridden for over a year) I explained to Matt and Nicole how my sacrum had healed in a strange L-shape, told them I always had to sit on a spinal cushion @ home and in the car . On my 3rd visit, I was asked to ride a reclining bike.. I asked for some kind of padding . I explained to them how I had permanent nerve damage and had no feeling in my crotch area and had bowel and bladder issues from nerve damage. On visit #4, I was told to ride an upright stationary bike, Again, asked for some kind of padding. Nothing was offered . After sitting atop a bicycle seat and riding for 7 minutes ; my condition has worsened to the point that I can no longer sit or lie down without severe pain. The nerve damage has increased dramatically and is affecting both legs and left side of pelvis . I had NO SCIATIC pain prior to going to Bradford ProEx .. Bowel and bladder dysfunction has increased to the point that I'm forced to seek help .. Stay away from this place !!!! Apparently, giving your history means absolutely nothing!! Zero common sense applied to the exercises I was asked to do! ..How I wish I had never heard of this place !! read more

ProEx Physical Therapy destroyed my back. I went in for minor back pain during certain exercises, my doctor recommended I see them to learn some stretches. Instead the therapist disregarded my doctor's diagnosis and decided to do a "stress test" on me, an hour of weight lifting to see what I could take, something that none of my doctors or other physical therapists have ever heard of a response to a client with back pain. They sent me home with orders to do about 90 minutes of core exercises a day. An hour or two after my appointment, my back hurt so much I spent the rest of the day in bed. I pushed myself to do the exercises for the two days until my next appointment. At my appointment, in tears, I told the physical therapist about the pain I was experiencing. She told me I just needed to strengthen my core muscles and work harder, but she went "easy on me" with only half an hour of weightlifting. Starting that night, I was in so much pain I could barely get off the couch long enough to go to the bathroom. This completely incapacitated state ultimately lasted a month. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. For years I had a migraine disorder where the pain was so bad I would just vomit for hours. It was miserable, but nothing to get upset about. After a day or two of no improvement, I called my doctor and we made an appointment for later in the week, but she told me not to return to ProEx. I called ProEx to explain the situation and cancel all my appointments. My therapist had the nerve to try and shame me by telling me essentially, no pain no gain and "any 90 year old woman" could do the workout she put me through. A year of intense pain, multiple rounds of shots and two out patient surgeries later, the problem was a severe inflammation of my intervertebral discs, something no amount exercise would have fixed, and in fact made the problem worse. I am now pain free, but I may need more surgeries in the future if the problem returns. Thus, I recommend you avoid this place unless you have a fairly simple problem. In my experience, they were not particularly interested in solving my back pain, or hearing client feedback, just running me through their assumptions. I waited a year to make this review, because in an attempt to be fair, I wanted to know what my recovery would be like before writing about my experience. read more

I have been a patient at ProEx in Haverhill since November of 2012. After suffering a very bad hamstring injury, I was referred to ProEx. From the moment I walked in, the staff was attentive and caring. Stephanie and Diane at the front desk are always all smiles. Setting up appointments is a breeze and the email reminders are great. I can not thank Jessica McManus and Karen Murphy enough for taking such good care of me and setting up a plan of action to get me back on my feet and back to my regular routine. Jessica and Karen are quite thorough, very knowledgeable. Meaghan and Kylie (exercise techs) are such a great support team, always making sure my form is correct. After I completed my therapy for my hamstring injury, Jessica worked with my personal trainor to ensure a smooth transition back in to my training. I unfortunately also suffered a shoulder injury during this past winter and I knew this would be the place to rehab that as well! I have gotten nothing but genuine support and caring for not only my injury, but my whole body well being. At my first PT appointment at Pro Ex, I limped badly, had such pain I couldn't sleep well and had to pull myself upstairs by the bannister. After 6 weeks with Tyler, I walked out 95% healed. Almost no pain, no limp and able to fully weight bear. The environment is relaxed, supportive and very professional. Tyler constantly asked how the exercises felt and how they were working. The Bradford Professional Physical Therapy staff are nothing short of incredible. I have something called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which at its core means my ENTIRE skeleton sublexes and dislocated. It is a very painful life. The Bradford staff actively listens to my concerns, where other medical professionals over the years have either just scratched their heads and shrugged and told me, "you just need to learn to live with it". Professional Physical Therapy has engaged in learning with me on how to improve my quality of life, and they have succeeded! All I ever wanted was for someone to just TRY something, anything to help me, and Professional Physical Therapy has gone above and beyond. When one approach didn't work, we tried a new one until something landed. The Bradford staff has given me my life back and inspired me to be excited for my future rather than dreading the worsening pain and dislocations that would have one day immobilized me completely. I have a bright, manageable road ahead of me, and I have the Bradford staff to thank for that, they are my heroes.
